The store is run by all volunteers and all the proceeds go to the Arnprior hospital. Downfalls would be the hours. Would be more convenient if opened past 4 and would be great to have a debit machine but be it run by volunteers and the low cost of items I hardly mind taking an extra 3 mins to hit the bank before I go.

At NO TIME during my visit did I see signage to that effect, NOR did the clerk advise me at the cash that this was store policy. I take great offense to businesses thinking they are entitled to keep MY money and/or tell me how to spend it, (e.g. in their store). The fact that the policy is written/buried in the fine print at the very bottom of the receipt (who reads receipts until after-the-fact anyway???) furthers my impression of being baited without warning. Frankly, I find this practice off putting and a very bad look for a small town business. I absolutely will not be spending any more of my money at Jade and Laney, nor will I recommend that anyone I know shop there because of this policy.

They have a good selection on the shelves. And they have a knowledgeable staff that can make recommendations. If you are looking for something that isn't in stock, they will order for very quick delivery. They also have a good selection of out-of-the-ordinary toys and gifts for kids. Finally, they share space with an excellent coffee shop. Hard to ask for more.
