I rated them 4 stars instead of 5 because of their inefficiency, lack of attention to detail, and in our families case, lack of organization for the funeral. I have staffed and organized funerals for family and fellow military comrades. This was the most unorganized I have observed. I do not know if this is the norm, or not for this funeral staff. This particular day, they were challenged to keep each family funeral details compartmentalized without mixing them up, and had completed about half of the preparation for the funeral. The funeral was delayed by over 2 hours partially due to this.

When I researched this place, I saw they did have a lake, and worked with them to find the right plot that was near the lake and the stream. Kim and Paula were terrific to work with. They had valuable suggestions....not just what I should consider but why. They were not interested in the money they'd make...they were interested in getting to know me, my brother, and how they could help make it easier finding the right final resting place. They also were terrific in setting my expectations with how long it will take for the headstone to arrive (whew, more time to figure out what to put on it). This place may or may not be the best for your needs, but do talk with them. They're happy to share their knowledge. Also, the house that's to the left of the entry? That's their office. It fooled me the first time too. And I did get to meet Gracie the comfort dog. She helped.

I was…read morevery anxious about choosing the right people for such an important job, and we live in Washington so I had no idea who would be best. I called the wonderful people at Burckhalter and from the moment they answered the phone I knew I had made the right choice. Dan walked us through the process and spent plenty of time with me, answering questions, making suggestions, and assuring me that they would handle everything so that we could fly in and attend a viewing and lay my mother in law to rest the following day. By the time we arrived in Oklahoma I felt as though we had made new friends. They took care of every detail and truly went the extra mile to make sure that my mother in law was treated with respect and compassion - not to mention that they were SO kind to us. I was shocked that the cost was so reasonable and beyond impressed with the outstanding services we received. I can't say enough about these good people. They thought of everything and even provided us with umbrellas when it rained on the day of her burial. I would highly recommend Burckhalter Funeral Home, both to people who live locally and to those who may need to make these difficult arrangements from far away. I don't give rave reviews often, but they deserve 10 stars.

My Father a Vet recently pasted away. Unfortunately my aging mother had to make arrangements alone…read more THE ENTIRE FAMILY WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE WE RECEIVED. First they was in a hurry, and forcing her to make decisions before she had time to think about them. Sorry but at a time like this ( is not a time to be in a hurry ). Second we had family coming in from all over the US and she did not know the exact time that everyone would arrive. They made her make a decision on the time of the service the very next day after his passing. Third they told her since the service was going to be so late in the afternoon on a Saturday we would not be able to take him to the cemetery until Monday. Well by then most of the family had to return home to go back to work. They would not let her schedule anything on Sunday. Fourth on the obituary notice they got the name of the cemetery wrong. Fifth during the service he was unprepared and was searching for words to say ( like he was killing time or wasting his time ) that was my impression. Six they called my mother late 7.00 pm on Sunday to drive 75 miles to mark his plot, in the dark , in the country. Seven when we was finally able to take him to his final resting place we had to take him from Siloam Springs to Kingston and he was taken in a mini van not a hearse. Eight he did not have directions to get there so he had to follow us ( this funeral home must not have Google maps ) my belief is that the deceased should be first in line. Nine the man that took him to the cemetery only said one small short prayer. and that offered on comfort to us. When it comes time for my Mother to be called home to be with Jesus we will NOT do it with this home. The only part that we was happy with is when the Navy Commander gave my mother the flag. She was very nice and professional unlike the staff at this funeral home. The least this place should do is discount the price and send a letter of apology to my mother. Unhappy Smith Family.
