From the lake and hiking trails to the numerous playgrounds and pavillions Winding trails offers a variety of options. Close to the interstate you would not know that while you are here. It was that serene and tranquil. My firm had our recent company you outing hee and had a wonderful time using the property for our "Olympic" competition. We were provided with shaded pavillions as a central eating/meeting location and equipment to use for sand volleyball kickball and a relay race (which included a canoe of ride around the lake). There were several other groups on the property but I never felt "on top of them" The grounds were clean and well kept with our plenty of garbage cans and recycling bins to dispose of our catered lunch from Bear's BBQ (which was as good as eating at their brick and motor store in Hartford). It also looked like there were individual families enjoying the property but I am not sure if Winding Trails offers a separate membership for that. If you are looking for a place to hold an event large or small, I highly recommend checking Winding Trails.

The kids are always learning something new and they are always having fun (while developing the social skills). Monthly and weekly themes and lessons are consistent, clear, and well communicated with the parents to allow them to be involved and able to follow up and easily provide enrichment after school. Communication across the board is too notch. Throughout the day parents get regular updates via the Brightwheel app, including pictures, meal updates, and potty and/or diaper changing schedules. The app is also used to send centerwide messages from the staff, as well as personal notes to alert us to any issues the children may be having. It's a national organization of volunteers that mobilize to repair, modify, and improve homes for low-income homeowners. Founded in Texas in 1988, over the years, 3.4 million volunteers have worked to rehab over 100,000 homes. With 200+ chapters across the country, on the last Saturday in April, volunteers gather across the country to repair and revitalize homes. We participated in the Hartford's chapter Volunteer Day on Saturday. Our day kicked off with an early 7:30 check-in, orientation, breakfast, and T-shirt distribution at the Sarah J. Rawson Elementary School. At 8:30, we headed off to our assigned house on nearby East Burnham Street. We joined hundreds of volunteers to restore and refurbish thirteen homes across the Blue Hills neighborhood of Hartford. The home we were assigned to included 20 volunteers from Travelers Insurance. It was a long, tiring day that ran from 730 to 4. We painted, dug up and relocated rose bushes, planted bushes, moved mulch, rebuilt a closet, installed a front porch railing, replaced a large back yard clothesline, and were links in a bucket brigade chain to empty basement clutter and move it to a dumpster. There were 41 tasks on our house's punch list, and we got to them all. Shout out to Capital Ice Cream for the welcome delivery of their ice cream for an afternoon break. Shout out to the many leaders who organized the moving parts of today's massive endeavor. The director and the teachers truly love their job. Prior to Covid, I was able to come into the center and nurse my baby. I saw firsthand how well the infant teachers handled their kids. They were all held and attended to as if they were their own. We now have two kids in this center. Their Covid precautions are strict, but we feel safe and clean here. My toddler son is learning so much at the discovery preschool level, much more than I would have been able to expose him to. It truly is like a play based school before school. Only cons are high teacher turnover, but this is common in other daycares from what I hear.

I witness on 3 different occasions a less than ideal tone used with my toddler. I also witness him being off on his own on one occasion very sad. I asked him what was wrong and he said he felt alone because the kid had taken a toy from him. Meanwhile the teacher was on his cell phone (Seen a lot of that when picking up my toddler). At 1st I didn't say anything as I am overprotective of my child, but his other parent went to stop by mid day with some lunch and over heard the teacher using that same tone. Immediately we had a group meeting and the teacher apologized and stated that she was a bit stressed due to a behavioral health child acting out in class, and she took it out on my toddler and the other children, I am still wondering what that had to do with my child?!?? Or why this teacher wasn't given some assistance. I also asked how many times does this happen, as the director continued to use the behavioral child as an excuse to the behavior of the staff. My child was removed immediately. Nothing is worth my child's well being. These teachers and directors need to meet these children where they are. If they are in need or talking you should bend down to their eye level to console them or understand them so you can assist them with care. My son said he was scared to go into the school on his 2nd day. I assumed he was hesitant with a new place and would adjust. I was wrong!!!!! I feel like I also failed my choke because if I had listens to him after day 1, I should have save him the exposure of mental, emotional and verbal abuse!!! i beg any parent that loves their child not to drop them off at Scott swamp RX in Farmington ct.
