Visiting on a Sunday evening, the service and atmosphere was very light any cheery, with no sense of being rushed at any point. We were sat by the window and presented with a bottle of champagne, ordered by my lovely parents, though the card ordered to go alongside didn't appear! It was poured straight away and kept chilled throughout the meal, with our glasses being topped up whenever required. Taking in our surroundings, we felt very much at home - it feels grand, but not in your face. Clean lines are the name of the game, much like the London Carriage Works attached to the Hope Street Hotel. Special, but not overfacing. We tucked into a 3 course Winter menu, with no sign of the dreaded meat and two veg Christmas meal that many restaurants end up relying on at this time of year. I started with scallops, perfectly cooked, followed by lamb. For dessert it was chocolate and cherry, presented with Happy Birthday in chocolate writing; I'm a sucker for the details.
