Update: I didn't know that realtors usually give a closing gift as this was my first home purchase. I was treated so horribly by this company it's ridiculous. They have never tried to make what they did to me right. They never fixed my screen or found my keys or offer to rekey for their mistakes. I feel so ripped off. I utilized Harvey Goodman to assist with managing a property I owned that was in another state. After requesting a number of times for details regarding building and maintenance expenses they were charging me, I got very vague answers. I decided to visit my property to check in on how it was being maintained and was met with units that had water damage, repairs that were haphazardly "fixed," appliances that had been taken by previous tenants, etc. I would not recommend utilizing Harvey Goodman for any of your property needs unless you are able to keep a very close eye on things. read more

I attempted to buy several dilapidated and abandoned adjacent properties on Baker Avenue in Moundsville with the goal of restoring the area and renting these properties out. Initially, I dealt with Sam Matheny of Harvey Goodman Realtors. Sam mentioned many positive things that he had done for the communities in which he works and initially I felt very good about working with him to turn around this eyesore of an area. Sam made a lot of promises to me including setting up a meeting between me and the mayor of Moundsville to possibly get a real estate tax break for purchasing the properties. Sam did not follow through with either setting up that meeting despite me making myself available, or most of the other things that he told me he was going to do. Weeks and, at one point, over a month went by without him communicating to me or responding to my text messages despite Sam's online claims that he is "committed" to "communicating and being readily available" and "providing you with the attention that you want - and deserve." Some four months after my initial contact with him, Sam was still not communicating with me so I asked Harvey Goodman to assign me to another realtor. I then dealt with realtor Mark McNeely for an additional over 3 months in an attempt to buy just one of the properties now and try purchasing the other properties later. While Mark was more responsive than Sam, a period of almost two weeks went by without Sam responding to my latest offer despite him claiming that he was now in "direct contact" with the seller. After over 7 months of getting nowhere, I informed Mark that I was withdrawing my offer and his almost immediate text message reply was "Sounds good. Thanks". Dealing with Sam, Mark and Harvey Goodman Realtors was a colossal waste of my time. I learned my lesson. Never again! read more
