Quality/Quantity - Upscale department store. I am sure it will be hard to compete against. Lots of expensive upscale brand names, many I am not familiar with. But also many "American" brands. See their website for all they sell. Atmosphere - Open 7 days a week from 10am to 8pm and on Sundays from 11:30am to 6pm. Good size department store, almost like a maze...? Not sure if it is due to an older building or done intentionally to make you walk the entire store (think Ikea). Or it could have just been me since they have a bar here and I got confused/lost my sense of direction... Service - Okay. I am always in favor of businesses with bars. My wife shops and I drink. And she can bring her bags to me to watch so she doesn't have to carry them; win/win! Price - 4 to 7 pounds a beer at the bar; reasonably priced for an upscale department store. Absolutely appalling service. Used the £50 American Express Platinum Lifestyle Credit on an order for three items. Two of the three items arrived with the third, most expensive item not in the box. I contacted Customer Service via telephone and email who were extremely rude. Their idea of a resolution was to simply re-arrange a replacement on a next day delivery service. No acknowledgement of the inconvenience or frustration was made and they were satisfied this was a fair resolution. Harvey Nichols has gone rapidly downhill in recent years and customer service staff really need to understand how to show empathy and respect to loyal customers. read more

Amazing! Third year in a row we have attented on mothers day and another outstanding meal. Service impeccable and we had a lovely time. Kids meals are very good. Food is fresh and of good quality and the service is so attentive. Only thing I would change is the lamb skewer we had for our main, the skewer was quite small and so I think you should get two, however the lamb was very tasy and tender. Cocktail was one of the best we have had and is now on my favourite drink list. Thank you for making our day so special. We miss the voucher for the facial that you have done the last few years! Just keep getting emails and text saying delivery has arrived in country,I dont think it's the courier (DHL)) more like Harvey Nichols are not competent enough and incapable to get Valentine's Day orders out. I've emailed customer service and tried to phone, guess what? No reply. I expected more from HN but they are just another faceless useless company with no level of customer service. Used to absolutely love this restaurant. We usually attend on average every six weeks. I think the kids eat free deal is fab if you are a rewards member. However the last few experiences have been disappointing. One visit, I was told tou can use both rewards together, even though have been allowed very other time. Another visit, the coffee machine was being cleaned so they said I had to wait, I then watched as others got coffee and I didnt. Today, they tried to add a lods juice to my bill, despite it cleary showing on the kids menu "complimentary drink with each course" the lady then had to take the kids menu to show the manager. This has been the same menu they have been using for over a year and these were the same members of staff! So they know dam well what you do and do not get. Its not the point of an extra £6 for a juice, its the sneakiness of it and thinking you wont say anything and pay. DO NOT TREAT IS LIKE WE ARE STUPID! oh and I had the set menu and the octopus starter was very small, delicious but small. Oh my word, the sticker shock is frightening! I suppose this is London in general, but many of the prices seemed barely within the realm of reason in that initial moment when I read them as $ rather than £. Thus browsing Harvey Nichols was a rather quick, museum-like affair. That said, what lovely goods were on display! I like the lay-out of the place and it stocks some enviable brands. A whole wall of lovely Lanvin shoes was a favorite exhibit. I also enjoyed the fifth floor, which houses a small and overpriced grocery store. The wine section is particularly lovely, though based on a couple data points, it charges near restaurant mark-ups. For sheer tourist joy, Harvey Nichols loses to Harrods in a rather pathetic fight, but it's worth checking out if you don't expect to spend all day browsing. This review is for the fifth floor Champagne Bar and good lord do I love it here. The BF and I stop here every time we're in London. I love their specialty drinks & he just drinks all the Champers he can manage. Service is always spectacular & I love that the last time we went, there was a really ridiculously loud group of older posh idiots and the server was extremely cool to let us move tables (& agreed with our choice to move ;) Ps. Possibly the most famous shop in London bar Harrods, This designer store located on the corner of Knightsbridge and Slone st and neighbours all the top end designer stores. Similar to Harrods in that it has a food hall it is however more of a clothes store for men and women with the taste for designer labels and ultra desirable goods. Made famous by Absolutely Fabulous it has more than its fair share of celebs and rich clientele looking for this seasons must have luxury or high fashion items. Completely confusing in terms of layout, it is a must see / visit attraction and you can also go to Harrods which is a 2 minute walk away. Don't forget to arrange a bank loan before you visit as this type of clobber doesn't come cheap darling !! Infamous fifth floor restaurant is worth a visit to watch the going's on of a high end clothes store. If you find it as amusing as I did, then it will be worth a visit just for that. read more

The food hall on the fifth floor is an all-time favourite. I am glad they have an express lift taking you there and back down again, thus avoiding the other four floors of designer temptation. Harvey Nichols is definitely positioned at the premium end of the market, but I think the food hall offers good value for money. Met up with long time childhood friend's at Harvey Nichols and went to the fifth floor for tea, scones, sandwiches and champagne. I may be biased as I was in excellent company but I found everything delectable. My only quip- the service left much to be desired. We ordered lemonades only to realize the HN version is basically a soda based drink (not fresh squeezed lemonade like we expect in Canada or the states). SEnding the drink back was such a fuss- didn't expect to need to have a conversation about that. Lol. Like... really? The customer is always right. I RECOMMEND: The scones. EXTRA TIP: Lovely patio. We ate indoors cause it was just too bloody hot! But you get a nice view of KNightsbridge downtown area (and hopefully a breeze to go along with it) read more

I would give it more stars if I had actually purchased something in here. The store is beautiful and the displays are something to behold. The window displays were brilliant! The Alexander McQueen display stopped me in my tracks and had me staring at the dresses like Carrie Bradshaw did at shoes in SATC. They have clothing for everyone from the little ones on up that is astounding - and awfully pricey! The fifth floor is where the food is. Restaurant and groceries. I bet the outside sitting area is to die for when the weather is nice. Wish I had spent my money on something else in the store outside of that sushi. Next time!! read more

10% One of the most painful department store experiences I've had in my life! *** Came here with a small group, Dec '13 during sale season right after Christmas. Our group visited a few other department stores and boutiques in the area. I found this store to be the least impressive in several regards. I imagine much of the issues I mention might not as notable during other times of the year. Most of my activity was centered around looking for items in the men's wear section, and dining in one of the more lackluster upstairs cafe. I'll add in other details, in addition. Coming from the US, I didn't find the prices on items to offer such a good value, even after discount. It seemed as if even a lot of the items were more expensive that what Id find at an American department store in Los Angeles or Manhattan. To be fair, the business can't be held accountable for unfavorable exchange rates and higher local sales tax. Nonetheless, I was able to find more attractive values at Selfridges and Harrod's shortly after. It's inevitable that I might compare them and my prior shopping experience with this branch of Harvey Nichols. Looking at the men's department, I found it a challenge to browse through the men's section. The selection did not appeal to me much. The place was also disorganized. In one instance I found a hoodie I was interested in and brought the item for purchase. The clerk disappeared for 10-15 mins only to return and say they couldn't sell it to me because apparently they had lost the sales tag attached to the hoodie. Later, others in my party would confirm that they observed this wasnt an uncommon occurrence at other parts of the store. I've never experienced this at any other department store. I was shocked and frustrated a store could be that unprofessional. Organization and floor space was a total disaster. Way too much merchandise was placed on the floor, often obstructing the flow of customers. I wouldn't be surprised if it were a severe fire hazard. It was a challenge to stand and observe much of anything, such was the flow of people in such tight and poorly thought out spaces. The cafe we went to upstairs wasn't a whole lot better. Although it didn't take more than ten minutes to get a table, it appeared that waiter service was terribly understaffed to the extent that it'd take 20 mins to get a coffee or a pot of tea, and closer to an 45 mins to have some savory items served after ordering. It would have been welcome if the staff would have at least offed a heads up with such outrageous wait times. Overall, shopping here was an exhausting and frustrating experience. Thankfully I had much better experience at some of the more organized department stores within the same area. Well, waiter service became a consistent issue at other restaurants, but I don't recall another quite as aggravating. Enter at your own risk! read more

Out of all of the high end department stores Harvey Nichols is surely the best in my eyes. They actually have a proper sale where you can grab insane bargains - I'm talking £10 and £20 for stuff. The 5th floor Café in Harvey Nichols is place where the jivey set meet to eat. The menu changes about 4 times a day according to breakfast, elevensies, lunch and dinner. Such delicacies as San Danielle ham sided by rocket and Parmesan shavings, Grilled Mackerel fillet with beetroot pesto, cucumber and cumin salad and Pan roasted scallops with celeriac puree and warm wholegrain mustard vinaigrette. For afters, White chocolate raspberry cheesecake or an Orange and Cointreau frozen parfait with passion fruit sorbet are both creative and delicious. Classic teas, varied coffees and French wines by the glass or bottle are on hand. The Café also serves Sushi and being on the floor where the food store is located, I recommend you walk around and admire all the marvelous selections of cheese, bread, fruit, vegetables, wine, meat and fish on display not quite so grand as in Harrods but quite breathtaking in its diversity. read more

I would give Harvey Nicks a full five stars if I could actually afford the merchandise here. The displays are breathtaking, almost as good as (or better than) a museum. With that being said, the fifth floor food hall is my hands-down favorite area of the store, as it features an almost dizzying array of options ( including a butcher counter and charcuterie). My mom and I opted to go the more traditional route, with the express afternoon tea. This is an excellent location to people watch as well. Every time I go to London I take the express elevator to the 5th Floor where not only can I enjoy amazing sushi, great cocktails (at least 4 stars to the dirty martini here) and some lovely lunch dishes with a view over the rooftops of fabulous Kensington there is also a great supermarket that stocks all your daily needs like pasta, bread and milk. All in great packaging, all at a premium rate and all served by smiling young people in nice aprons. It's a place to get proper old fashioned service while still enjoying the light and breezy air of a contemporary company concept. Want to experience the high life but only have the low budget? A coffee on the 5th Floor cafe is cheaper than a Starbucks and has a better view. The people watching is serious fun, made all the more exciting with the chance of seeing the odd celebrity in the crowds of people milling about looking at the jars of caviar and john dory thins. read more

If you're a fan of Ab Fab you will certainly know why Patsy and Edina are fans of Harvey Nichols. I actually prefer Harvey Nics to Harrods as it is far more modern and easier to navigate around. Be warned though; it is an expensive shop (a designer lovers heaven) and a few glasses of champagne in the 5th floor bar may lead to disastrous consequences! The first floor is dedicated to beauty products and perfumes. The staff are a little over bearing and all look like they have a wee too much makeup on but it still has a buzzy atmosphere and you never know who you will spot. My favourite floor is the food hall. Again, very expensive but the range of treats (and healthy foods) you can buy here is amazing. There is also a Yo Sushi in addition to the 'posher' official Harvey Nichols restaurant. Always full of the beautiful people, you do feel like you need to look fabulous and groomed just to go in but it really is a great store as department shops go. read more

NAH, not my kind of place. I never thought I'd be saying this, but I like Harrods better. Both are overpriced, and pretentious, but worth a pop in. There isn't anything too special in this department store. This place is separated in sections, expensive shirts here, expensive shoes there, and oh look, expensive jeans down there. Its not one of those stores that I HAVE to visit or even miss. The employees that I've come across here weren't helpful, and actually didn't even care to help. I remember we were looking at jeans and ending up confusing ourselves because of the odd layout...there was an employee behind the desk, just sitting there, didn't even bother to get up & offer to help or do their job. Their displays out front are colorful, very random, and catch your eye. No I didn't say that they were amazing, but you'll probably walk by and think, "what?" Its in a great shopping area for those that like to spend thousands. This street has Gucci, Prada, Louis V., and LOL the Billionaires Club store. After walking around Harrods, walking around Harvey Nichols was refreshing. High-end merchandise without the crowds! We actually popped in because it was raining outside and we thought we would just hide out in here until the rain eased up. What a good idea! We spent a few hours in there, I shopped for nail polish at Nails Inc. while Work BFF, her sister, and their friend made a beeline straight for the Trish McEvoy area. The nice thing about Nails Inc... they have wonderful colours and they let you try them on before you purchase them! How many times have you purchased a colour, got it home, put it on, and hated it?! My only problem with their 'Champagne Nail Bar'... it wasn't busy, in fact two the staff members were just sitting there chatting, but I heard them tell a lady that they couldn't do a manicure for her. And the girl who was helping me because I wanted a matte nail colour got annoyed with me when I accidentally smudged the tester she had put on me. Oops. However, I did like the 3 for £22 offer because normally their nail polish is £11 per bottle... not including any of the special ones or the finishes (like the matte finish that turns any nail polish into a matte colour). I walked through the jewelry area because the displays are just magnificent before heading over the the Trish McEvoy booth to see what the girls were getting into. They were getting make up tutorials. I sat and watched them and I have to say after walking through the MAC make up area (my make up of choice) and being told not to touch things and watching some of the other ladies at other make up booths, the ladies at the Trish McEvoy booth were so lovely! Edie was hilarious, but she was also very friendly and not pushy at all... especially after all the time she spent doing their make up and showing them how to apply it. I was told that I have to stop in when I am around next to have my make up done since I didn't get it done just then. I might just do that ;) read more

Harvey Nicks is one such store, practically alienating every gal not perpetually trussed up to within an inch of her life, and for that reason I'm not entirely enamored of it. Having worked in Harvey Nicks many a moon ago I feel as if I've seen it off guard. Pushy rich women, hip hop royalty, people with more money than sense and, erm, Pete Burns, Harvey Nicks is a very particular type of department store with a varied clientele with but one thing in common. Money. Don't get me wrong, for its contemporary womenswear, its premium beauty and extraordinary window displays I love Harvey Nicks. But I prefer my department stores with a rather more democratic and accessible feel and for that reason I give Harvey Nicks three stars and implore you, instead, to head to Selfridges. read more

On a recent trip to London, I spent my last Sunday morning on the 5th floor of Harvey Nichols. I had desperately wanted a traditional English breakfast so my sister suggested this spot and we decided to go. On the fifth floor of Harvey Nichols is a magical land of sushi counters, a little bistro area for where they serve brunches and lunches and other epicurean delights and the rest of the floor has lots of foodstuffs and gadgets. After being seated, we took a quick look at the menu and asked the waiter if he could accommodate our request for a vegetarian English breakfast (read: no blood sausage). When our meals arrived, I was so happy, a plate full of fried eggs, toast, beans, and pan roasted mushrooms and tomatoes. This along with the pot of tea, delicious jam and honey made for a perfect breakfast. Other notes, this is a very service oriented place, people are friendly and helpful and do it with a smile. And, while random, it's absolutely fun to sit on the top floor of a schmancy department store and enjoy a long lazy breakfast. read more

The Harvey Nichols located in Knightsbridge is the flagship location of the British luxury department store that was originally founded in 1831. Menswear on the lower level has been recently renovated. I prefer the calmness in Harvey Nic's as compared to the insanity and the crowds of Harrods located a few blocks away. As my sweet British doubles tennis partner, Andy, once said about Harvey Nichols, "How do you compete with a man who has it all?!" Harvey Nichols has collections from every major designer. I'm sure I've reviewed this before but this is just a fantastic place to shop. Predictibly I focused most on the one destination I knew I was going to enjoy the most and so made my way up to the 5th floor where apart from the very high fashion and designer itens there was going to be something equally as expensive but in an affordable size - chocolate. The food hall did distract me though and I almost wandered into the posh cafe but chocolate drove me on and I made it in to the food hall to the chocolate area. The smell is quite something and the friendly staff there allowed me to try a large number of different types of chocolate before I settled on the ones I wanted to take home. Of the diffferent chocolates I bought I have to admit they were on a par with the other high quality chocolates I have tried but that is an excellent thing since I have had chocolates that were suposed to be good and were dire. So do pop up to the 5th floor and get yourself some chocolate - they have a fantastic selection! read more

I think this is the defining designer store in the London & UK. The place to come to get designer clothes for men and women. Also renowned for its Food Foor - where you can pick up "deli items", wines as well as fresh fruit & vegetables. Often overlooked is the fact there are other departments in store ncluding homewares, Audio Visual & stationery. Although these are modest compared to other dept stores. There are also some nice places to stop & relax. Fifth Floor (restaurant/bar on the, erm, 5th floor) is a dining/drinking institution in the "monied" world - enjoy the experience of high earners checking each other out! There's also a Yo!Sushi concession and a few other cafes. One service worth using is the Personal Shopper - its free & really cuts to the chase (especially when I'm looking for gift recommendations). A long-standing London institution, in the past few years the brand has expanded & one store has become 5 with outlets in Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham & Dublin. read more

Generally Harvey Nichols is what it promises. Posh and expensive. People who go there are quite stiff and take themselves very seriously:) Their bar is not bad, mudslide cocktail was delicious but the staff ignored me when i was waiting on my own for someone, maybe I just wasn't hitting 50 so they thought I am not carrying Amex in my pocket so why bother?? The interior is fairly basic and if you didn't have to use a lift to get there you'd never gues you are in the fifth floor. Myself and three sisters took our mum to the main resurant for her 65th. We spent the day shopping and doing the usual girlie stuff and then went for lunch, We had the 3 course set menu and was seated right at the center table. It was half full mostly with snobby rich women lunching and office parties as it was december. The waiters were totall disinterested in us but service was standard to one of these high end returants. I had scallops for starters and smoked duck breast for entree. The scallops were amazing served with a hazlenut sauce however the duck was far to rich and over cooked we skipped pudding and opted for cocktails in the bar next door and i must say i had the best cocktail iv ever tasted, Pear vodka pear juice a couple of other ingriedents all over crushed ice it was AMAZING. I dont think i would go back to the resturant but would def good back for the cocktails. read more
