If I had to think about the top five things I've ever eaten, this place would take the cake…read more(figuratively and literally, hehe) in terms of dessert. Like Demel, Cafe Central is a MUST visit when you go to Vienna, where the coffee houses are a sight to behold on their own. Yes, the wait is quite long. Every time I pass by, there's a line, but it actually goes rather quickly and if you can find something to do to pass the time, it's like nothing at all. First off, the interior is STRIKING, a work of art in its own right with marble columns, stylish looking cafe tables, and paintings every where you go. Apparently Sigmund Freud has been a frequent patron here. Even if you were to get nothing at all, just the experience of sitting here is worth your eyes absorbing. But, oh!--the cakes--and the coffees! I had me an iced coffee that had a great body mixed with a delicate flavor to give me a jolt through the day. The hazelnut cake was airy and fluffy, not at all too sweet like American desserts have a tendency to be! The staff here move efficiently, and I love how there's no pressure to hurry up and pay your bill or make your order. A repeat place to be sure if I were to go back to Vienna. My twin and I went on Sept '25 for our vacation.

The building is very elegant and classical, really enjoyed the atmosphere as walking in, we sat down at a corner next to the window and could not wait to try out the coffee and pastries here. We got Cafe Central Kafee and Maria Therasia for coffee and shared one Viennese Apple Strudel. The coffee is so smooth and with the added liquor, the fragrance is amazing!!! No question, this is the BEST Apple strudel I've tasted, crunchy texture for the outside crust and the filling is full of fruity flavors. We spent about a bit more than an hour there and that was the most relaxing, appreciating and beautiful moment among this Europe trip.

Sunday finds many restaurants closed in Vienna, especially in smaller neighborhoods outside of the…read moredowntown district. with web help we found this place. a short walk from our hotel that had a menu of items up our alley. salads, pastas, Austrian dishes, pizza, etc. only one other table occupied in the sidewalk dining area and none inside the too hot seating there. our server was a very personable and helpful young man answering all our questions with ease. my DW chose her usual fave, pasta bolognese. she enjoyed it very much. I was craving some veggies or greens but also something light so I chose a cucumber, tomato, and onion salad-similar to a Greek, hold the feta-with grilled chicken strips. We had seen entrees come to the other occupied table so we had an idea of the portion sizes served but when ours came it was wow. my salad was a large plate covered with bright chunks of tomato and cukes, with red onion and also some unlisted green peppers. No problem there. Then on top were about a dozen at least thin strips of freshly grilled chicken breast, clearly hand cut from an actual breast before cooking. The dressing was light but with a nice herbaceous note again similar to a typical Greek salad. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I tore this salad down to the plate and it couldn't have been more perfect for what was looking for. We enjoyed our experience here and would return and recommend easily.

Came here for breakfast since Vienna isn't really big on breakfast and we were missing home…read more This place was really close to our Airbnb and it reminded us of home. The breakfast items we ordered came with pita bread, so we made little sandwiches out of it. SO GOOD! They even had picked red onions on the side. Our meal was supposed to come with orange juice, but we never got it. We also ordered coffee, which comes in a little ass shot cup. Didn't feel like complaining because we're out of towners and didn't want to be nuisance. Would definitely come here again, but this place is a smoking restaurant, and someone next to us was chain smoking
