    Apple strudel

Another famous Cafe, the hubby and I got to try this during our trip to Vienna. This is a cafe where famous people have visited so it is quite popular as it is located near city hall. We had to wait in line for around 30ish minutes before we were seated. The ambiance here takes you back in time and service here was very good. As we were visiting in the afternoon, we got a latte as well as the famous apple strudel in vanilla sauce. The strudel was good and the vanilla sauce is definitely sweet, but the dessert did not taste as fresh as I feel it should have been. However, not bad and worth visiting for the experience.

If you have any interest in Viennese cafe culture, this place is a must visit. The places oozes decadence. The coffees were good. The service was very good and proper. The food was good. Def a great place to spend a morning or afternoon.

Wonderful cafe in the middle of the Ring. We didn't need to wait in line and i highly recommend going in early Oct. it's the perfect time to visit. We are party of 4 and had breakfast. Everything was wonderful, the service and the ambiance. One of the must visit on your trip to Vienna

    Sachertorte

Food wasn't too great. Cake was very dry and bland. I had much better Kaiserschmarran at other restaurants. Service was quick and everyone was very pleasant. Pretty seating outside with heated lamps.

Beautiful September evening in the patio

Our first meal in Vienna and probably my favorite! We sat on the outdoor patio - no reservation needed, just choose an open table! The saffron risotto was delicious. We shared a seasonal strawberry blossom for dessert. It was bigger than the menu picture and capped off our meal perfectly! Located far enough off the street that the traffic noise wasn't a distraction. I'd definitely return.

Viennese cafe from the 1800s with large variety of food and beverages - cakes, pastries, coffee, etc. The interior is lovely and it's a wonderful experience dining in such a historical place. The coffee and cake were decent. The cake was served quite late; it didn't seem that service was generally slow, rather that the waiter had forgotten about it on accident.

Even though this cafe is touristy, it is absolutely wonderful for service, selection, presentation and food quality. Beautifully presented and the flavors are wonderful.

Sigmund Freud's local coffee shop. Café Landtmann in Vienna is such a great spot across from City Hall. My visit was perfect because of sweet and attentive server. The patio is lively. Inside, go see the beautiful wood carved panels. Perfect spot to do a little work and part of my cafe hop in Vienna. One espresso for me please!

    Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Soup

Stopped in for an early dinner. The Pumpkin Sweet Potato soup was delicious as well as the Original Buchteln!

Black tie service for breakfast, oh yeah. Absolutely some of the best coffee, yep, and delicious food. That is the recipe for a great place to go, and this cafe has it down pat. Service is excellent and friendly. The coffee is outstanding and the smoked salmon is delicately done and delicious. The avocado and egg was done differently than I would have imagined, but the egg was perfect. Everyone around me had beautiful food, I kept wanting more, but I settled with a second kaffe. So good.

    Chicken and salad 23 euros

Cafe Landtmann is a Viennese coffee house established in 1873. It is located across the street from Rathausplatz. When I arrived at lunch time they were completely packed for outdoor seating and had a small line of people for sitting outdoors. Fortunately they had plenty of seating indoors. The inside of this place is fancy and the service was excellent as well. The lunch menu had very few items that looked appealing and so I settled on a salad with chicken. Salad with Chicken (23 euros) - The salad consisted of a layer of potatoes topped with some greens and 3 pieces of chicken tenders lightly battered. It wasn't exactly the healthy option I was seeking, nor did I see any healthy options on the menu. Taste wise everything was ok. The menu was extremely limited in items for lunch. Water (7.50 euros for a 1 liter bottle) - This costs less than 1 euro at the grocery store. I don't know how they can justify this pricing. Overall the food was just ok. The décor and service were great. I made a huge mistake by not reading my YELP buddy Sam B.'s review as her experience wasn't that great either here. I know better next time. :P

    Table seating in booth

Great food and service. Staff were very friendly and spoke great English (I was American tourist). Spent a few hours here reading with my tea and cake. Before which I'd had a nice soup and venison ragout. Location right across the street from the beautiful Rathaus.

The building is very elegant and classical, really enjoyed the atmosphere as walking in, we sat down at a corner next to the window and could not wait to try out the coffee and pastries here. We got Cafe Central Kafee and Maria Therasia for coffee and shared one Viennese Apple Strudel. The coffee is so smooth and with the added liquor, the fragrance is amazing!!! No question, this is the BEST Apple strudel I've tasted, crunchy texture for the outside crust and the filling is full of fruity flavors. We spent about a bit more than an hour there and that was the most relaxing, appreciating and beautiful moment among this Europe trip.

Well known for being a beautiful and historic cafe established 1876 frequented by the likes of famous names like Trotsky and Freud, this traditional Viennese coffeehouse and cafe is a popular tourist destination. Having walked by around 7:30pm the prior evening and seeing a line of about 15 people outside, the next morning arriving around 9am the line was about 15 minutes without reservations. Upon entering the inside is beautiful, cavernous domed ceilings, chandeliers and a very classic bistro vibe. Enough seating for probably 150 customers, quite large inside, and about two-thirds full. That's when I realized the line outside was more for show, which at some places I get because staffing might be hard and they want to ramp up the pacing between breakfast and lunch services. In a place like this it seems more like a marketing technique to create hype, which kinda annoyed me--it's not respectful of customers' time. It took a while maybe 10 minutes for a staff member to pass menus, then another 10 minutes for him to come back and check in. What I'll say is he was swift to answer our questions and knew the menu well. In general service felt lacking though, after eating it took quite a long time to get our server's attention again to get the check. For breakfast I was a little surprised by the prices for the food offered, on the high side. While the vegan spreads were very good, from the menu it wasn't clear that it was actually vegan cream cheese that was the base of the spreads. Unfortunately the rest of the food was meh, €14.50 for a small croissant (not especially good), a plain roll, a boiled egg and latte, with a pat of butter and jam. Would I come back? Maybe to try a couple of their baked pastries and dessert, but not for breakfast. For more info: https://cafecentral.wien/en/

We were directed to go upstairs and found an open seat in no time at all. Just passing by all the display cases filled with desserts and pastries triggered the cravings. We did a quick menu perusal but really knew that we wanted to try the kaiserschmarrn which was a traditional Austrian dessert made up torn up pancakes, served with a plum compote and dusted with powdered sugar. It was light, had a nice caramelized flavor from browning in the pan and little pops of more sweetness from the raisins. It was so delicious that we came back the next day for more but shortcut the line and got it to go from the takeaway window. Same kaiserschmarrn but around 3 Euros cheaper for a larger serving. After eating we wanted around the restaurant and towards the back you can see just how the cooks juggled making many pans of Kaiserschmarrn at the same time. Yes it's a bit pricey but so tasty to try at least once.
