Clothes Mentor is one of the best and now have an online presence as well - but I love old school browsing, still. After 40 years of buying, today was a first. Today was my first try at selling. I wasn't sure what to expect - but they made the process very simple. I have been purging and donating... hand-selected some brand new with tags jewelry and shoes, along with some gently-used shoes. I did well.... they offered to purchase all of the new items I brought, and I felt the offer was fair. You do receive more funds if you are willing to accept a store credit - but since I'm downsizing, it felt like a good decision to take cash. All in? I dropped off my basket and had a text advising my order was processed. You have 24 hours to meet with the store and discuss the offer to finalize. They keep what you agree to sell and you take back your basket of what they pass on buying (which includes any boxes from items they buy). I recycled the boxes and dropped the rest at a local donation site. Easy! The store is clean, well-organized, and well-staffed. I was helped by 3 people between the drop off and offer and they were all very friendly and helpful. This really is a great way to reduce, reuse, and recycle fashion and accessories. You save money also - all in all, a great solution.

I go through the clothes on the racks, and I am stumped. I see tops that are so worn, they should be in the garbage. I brought in seven jeans from Nordstrom, Lululemon pants (worn once), WHBM tops. They took none of it. I'm not even sure they went through it. It was a young lady, so I'm not sure she knows what women my age are looking for. I am not being biased when I say my stuff was by far nicer that a lot of what I saw they had. Very disappointing.

It is the definition of a small business --- the owner, Allison, is there every day behind the counter which I love. She is not only knowledgeable from first-hand experience (with both her kids) but she does a lot of research on "natural" baby toys, materials and such so her store has a great variety of products (not just cloth diapers!). I have bought not only a good selection of diapers, but clothing, tea, toys and wool dryer balls here. She also seems to take pride in being a part of the community and offers free cloth diaper classes and posts a lot of local info on her Facebook page. She is great about answering any question you may have... which as a first time mom, I really appreciate! She sells many handmade things (which I love!) to include jewelry, clothing, and toys.... she also has these graham crackers from a local vendor @ the register -- YUM! While I find the name of this store really hard to pronounce and generally just refer to it as the diaper store, it's a great place to stop in if you are walking around in the center of Troy. Found a great dress and awesome price and received great customer service from young lady named Kendra. I know the store gets a bad reputation sometimes of it being messy however the store is very neat and clean and orderly this morning I believe it's the customers that come in a make the big masses and the staff may not be able to keep up with cleaning up for such a large volume of items. But I actually did start wearing Alloy's clothes as a teen and have kept it up until the pregnant almost 30 year old wife I am today. I love their clothes. I got 4 shirts for get this....Less than $40.00. That includes shipping. Yes less than $40.00! And the clothes are great and fashionable and great for maternity wear. I don't know what teenager would wear a brand new suit jacket from Anthropologie. Or work dresses that I wore when I was pregnant that are now too big. There is no way Plato's closet would have taken those clothes though so I brought them to Uptown Cheapskate who bought the majority of them. The rest I sold on Poshmark. I definitely won't be back because it was a waste of time and their process does not seem to make any sense.

Yesterday, they had buy one get one free on this ankle socks which is such a great deal. I ended up getting 24 pairs of socks for $20. While in here I like shopping around. The dresses are usually not my style but they have really cute sandals and leggings. The dressing rooms were clean and everything was very organized. This is a large store, so you can end up spending a lot of time shopping around. They had three cash registers open and I only had to wait a minute or two in line before I was able to check out.
