It has been great. I did initially meet with my therapist in person and then we switched to online via video call. Unlike previous therapists at groups who take insurance, D (not sure if I should post her name) is very proactive and responsive to my questions, concerns, and has explained how we are moving forward and how she hopes to help me. She stays up to date with current industry standards, with industry journals and periodicals, and with events in the psychology field. Instead of just talking about my issues and background she offers book titles, workshops she came across, workbooks---let me be clear that I asked for these recommendations, she does not require or even persuade me to look into these additional resources. My experience with our in-person therapy sessions has fully lived up to those expectations. Going into it, I wasn't entirely aware of all that I was "carrying." Dr. Mitchell created a safe, welcoming environment for me to unpack and resolve lingering issues in my present that were being influenced by my past. She is a fantastic therapist; she really listens and participates in the session, helping me talk back to distortions I have in my thinking. She is very attentive and has an amazing memory. By having appointments at various times of the day including earlier some days and into the late evenings other days, she is accommodating to what her patients need which I really appreciate. She also has a really simple and easy billing system - it sounds minor but paying therapists has ALWAYS been such a painful experience with everyone else that I've seen (remembering to bring my checkbook, having to coordinate to get a hand-written summary to send for insurance reimbursement, etc.). With Kate, I have auto-pay set up using my credit card, and I get a thorough monthly superbill emailed to me like clockwork to supply to insurance, so easy. She's the only therapist I've ever looked forward to seeing - knowing it will help me process what's going on in my day-to-day life and I'll come out with new solutions to try. She has helped me through some very difficult times. If I ever leave this area I think I would have to travel to keep seeing Kate.
