Since I usually shop in Beverly Hills, I would not consider this boutique "high end" ie you won't be finding Chanel and Louboutin here. But it is definitely "higher end" than a fair amount of boutiques in Saratoga. Some designers they feature are: Alice + Olivia DVF Vince Citizens of Humanity Rachel Zoe Gold Hawk William Rast Elizabeth & James Michael Lauren Gentlefawn Art of Henri Alkemie MiH Left on Houston What I love: Local designer goods--unique, one of a kind, made from the heart. I also love the hats. The hats for racing season are outrageous and so fun to look at and try on! What I like: the quality of the clothing here is pretty good. They also have bathroom they allow patrons to use, thank god! The bathroom is standard and clean. Service: I only met two women who work here. One is the owner, she is very helpful, knowledgable, and efficient.... although she is not the warmest of people. The other woman is very sweet. Prices: prices are reasonable for the brands they are carrying. Overall would I come back? Perhaps, if the atmosphere would be a little more warm and welcoming.

I like that they have some known names as well as some local designers. They offered to order other sizes and ship to me so I could decide on what to keep. Called back today to have them ship a pair of earrings that I loved, but didn't buy initially. Thanks Encounter!

"The Track" as it is known by the locals, is only open for 40 days, from mid-July through early September, and the most famous race at the track is the Travers held the last weekend in August. Locals and tourists flock to The Track during these six weeks of Summer to socialize with their friends, and to watch the thoroughbreds run the 1 and 1/8th mile dirt track. Films such as "Seabiscuit," "Saratoga," "The Horse Whisperer," "Billy Bathgate," "Ghost Story," and "My Old Man", as well as a scene in Ian Fleming's James Bond novel, "Diamonds are Forever," were all filmed at the Saratoga track. It should come as no surprise that the locals are very proud to support their track, and to wear official logo'd merchandise to support the horse racing lifestyle. That's where "Embrace The Race" enters the picture. Mike DeAnzeris and his team have created the official logo for Saratoga, and they sell branded apparel and merchandise in their store on Circular Street, just off of Broadway. The storefront has quite the collection of polo shirts, t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, ties, drinking glasses, and umbrellas to help you express your passion for horse racing, and your support of the Saratoga Springs horse racing community. You can either stop by the shop on Circular Street, or visit their website at www.embracetherace.com to find something to suit your tastes. It's a very cool logo, and the perfect gift for someone who enjoys horse racing.

A new business just opened recently, on the corner of Grand and Beekman, and is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. The shop's sign simply says "Textile Studio". Once you enter, you see it is a very special place. The husband/wife team are both textile designers and weavers and they make their own cloth which they then construct into scarves, hats, vests, neckties, handbags, jackets and skirts. I love textiles and was eager to visit after the first time I drove by a few days ago. Their weaving is quite lovely, with unique designs made from some interesting blends (including cotton, wool, rayon, soy fiber and silk). The clothes are nicely constructed. I tried on a few jackets and the fit is nice - not highly tailored, but tailored enough that the fit is good and definitely not frumpy. Their handbags (just a few) are gorgeous, and I can't wait to pick out a great scarf too. I walked in close to closing time and one of the owners (not sure if it was fratelli or Lockwood) was at the loom. He was very welcoming. I left soon because I was just popping in to check the place out, but I can't wait to go back and pick out a perfect handbag. All in all, it's a very nice shop, with a great selection, a wonderful atmosphere, and if you're there when it's quiet, you'll likely to be able to watch one of the weavers at the loom.
