Super store of fabulous hats, fascinators and all kinds of accessories. Sadly, I couldn't find a hat that fit my head/face properly for what I was looking for. Alas, I'm just picky. My mom however did and she is super happy with her purchase. They can pretty much customize any hat with extra goodies if you like. And they have hat boxes too in case you need to transport your hat safely. Note, this store is packed so take your time to really look. And if you can bring a picture of your dress or know what your are wearing, it makes the selection a bit easier. We were there Belmont Stakes week/weekend and to say this place was hopping would be an understatement. The staff was very accomodating and we didn't have to wait long. read more

This is a most awesome incredible store with good quality house branded hats to high end European hand made hats. I was looking for a Panama straw fedora in a darker color for a yellow feather hat band I'm having made. I settled on a dark grey Meyser fedora, hand woven Panama straw that was hand made into a fedora in Germany. Friends I was with each bought hats, even though we have many but evidently not enough when we saw the selections here. read more

My family was followed around like we were common criminals. They told my son not to touch anything. The man who was also working there stared at my wife and child creepily. He didn't notice my Rolex which meant I could have bought anything there many times over. Cheap products and overpriced. Go down the street -- there's places that care about you. Once people wore hats, not wearing a hat was a sign of a problem. Today less so but some of us still wear hats regularly and there are some places where you do buy hats. That having been said when we saw this place while on holiday in Saratoga, my wife knew we were stopping in. the result though is a place we both liked. Because of the race course and the 'season' in Saratoga this is a town which encourages hats and beyond the hats for men, this store has many different hats for ladies to wear. If you wear hats normally, you'll love this place and if you don't already like hats, stop by here or the satellite shop at 328 on the same street. My friend has a thing for hats. She can pull off the most ridiculous outfits and because she can, she does. So off to find a fascinator in the land of the races. First stop is a tiny store packed with options. We tried to woek our way through but the incredibly rude woman who clearly did not want to be bothered (or make a sale) was a bit of a detractor. And it turns out she was the owner! We dicovered this after leaving the small shop on Broadway and walking into the larger location up the road. There the girl was sweet as pie and incredibly apologetic for her ecentric boss's demeanor. Nice girl who tried to compensate for her awful boss could get us to purchase from such a nasty woman. read more

The overly stylish boy working here had no interest in helping me and my boyfriend in our search for hats and bow ties. The selection was amazing, hence the extra star, but his rude attitude really ruined it. When you're in a store with no other customers looking for hats and accessories let's have some fun! Terrible customer service here. Do not shop here! It's a rip off and Joyce the owner does not handle issues. She's hides behind her NO REFUND policy. Attempted to contact her regarding a faulty hat they sold us and she refused to reach out, got the police involved so she didn't have to deal with to. Disappointing. read more

Today I purchased a hat from Hatsational after seeing it online at Wallaroo Hat Company. I saw that this store carried Wallaroo hats so I chose to go there to buy my hat locally. I just looked at the Wallaroo website and the hat is $46. Hatsational charged me $72. I called the store and they said there is a refund policy on the counter and on the receipt. I asked how they could justify charging so much and I was told they have a standard markup. They won't refund me the difference. So much for shopping local. My rating is zero but I can't give them a zero and post my review. read more

The stars are simply for the hat selection. The attendant was rude and didn't greet my wife and I. We were followed around the store like she thought we might be stealing. Instead of offering help and suggestions, she merely stared at us like we might be criminals. I wanted to try on a top hat but I was afraid I'd be met with a rude comment. Hatsational has the rudest employee's I have ever experienced. My group bought 4 hats on Saturday at 4:20 pm totaling $459. When we opened the bag this morning we noticed that the wrong hat was in our bag. We went back at 10:30 Sunday morning and Randy (rude rude rude man) informed us there were no returns or exchanges and there was nothing he could do. Randy was in the store and helped us the day before. I strongly discourage anyone from doing business with this store. They put the wrong item in our bag. Utterly awful experience!!! I called to speak with the manager who was more rude than Randy in the store. I was informed the man helping me was a rep from hat line and not an employee. This is the WORST customer service. STOP!!! DO NOT ENTER either of the two Hatsational stores in Saratoga Springs, NY. If only I had read the reviews prior, I wouldn't have stepped foot in here. (The poor reviews at the bottom that the shop can unfortunately hide quite well) The salesgirl Randy was delightful. I bought the Betsey Johnson phone pocketbook, but unfortunately it is not compatible with my iPhone 6+. I called to say that the pocketbook isn't working because the phone receiver isn't compatible with my iPhone 6+, and the owner robotically gave me her automated sounding reply, "it's our corporate policy, we don't do any returns, exchanges or sales!" I understand about store policy, but in all fairness, this isn't a hat where we have issues of personal hygiene. This is a $104.86 pocketbook that isn't functional with my iPhone 6+. All this could've and should've been avoided if she'd posted a sign that these phone pocketbooks are not compatible with iPhone 6+!!! (But seeing her greed explains why she fails to let customers know the truth) It's underhanded and dishonest not to tell this vital fact! And for the review about how utterly horribly this owner treated a disabled person, I'm sorry that you had to cross paths with this type of a store owner who clearly cares far more about money, than customer goodwill. read more

Wonderful experience! I purchased a fascinator here as well as an adorable hat for my 7 year old son just last week. The owner and young gentleman who helped me were terrific! I bought the fascinator first and the went looking for my matching dress. The staff were so helpful in helping me select something that was on trend and would be easy to find an outfit for. The quality here is unparalleled...other hats you will find on Broadway just won't compare. I'm hooked! Best place to shop for sure! read more

This shop has beautiful merchandise - but it's a shame that their customer service isn't as nice as their products. I went in this past weekend with a friend who requires a medical service dog. We had been into a number of shops and restaurants in town and everyone was aware of the legal requirement (Federal Americans With Disabilities Act) to allow working service animals into business establishments; but not the staff at Hatsational. The store manager came to us and told us she couldn't have a dander-covered, slobbery, dirty animal anywhere near her hats and we would have to leave the store. My friend explained that the dog was a medical service animal (he was wearing his cape and certificate, so she shouldn't have had to explain anything) and the woman was insistent. She made a terrible scene and finally we left to avoid any more conflict. My poor friend was totally humiliated, and we weren't able to make the purchase. Not only is this behavior illegal, it is inhumane. I was disgusted by her treatment of a disabled person and her insensitivity to my friend's special needs. Moreover, she embarrassed her in public and was unbelievably rude. Their derby hats are beautiful, but I can't recommend this shop. In fact, I might encourage potential shoppers to actively boycott it until the proprietor has had a chance to familiarize herself with the ADA. read more

I have never been treated more poorly by any retail establishment! On occasion we all make a purchasing error and are horrified by our mistake once we get home. This was my recent experience: My daughters and I stopped in with our dresses to purchase hats for an October wedding. Our expectations were to receive "design" experience and help with selecting a perfect hat to complete our outfits. We were given very little recommendation and absolutely no comments or suggestions were offered to dissuade us if a potentially bad selection was made on our parts. I fell in love with a particular hat/fascinator, wanted to think on it a bit because it was very pricey and was told by the owner, "I can't guarantee it will be here when you decide to come back." So, impulsively, I decided to purchase the hat/fascinator. Two things should have clued me in at that moment: 1) when I indicated that the hat was a bit loose and that the comb wasn't matching up with my head, I asked the owner if she could alter for me but she indicated it would be "cheaper" for me to do it myself and proceeded to show me what to do. I should have been horrified by what was in fact a condescending remark but was distracted by my daughters and grandson; and 2) when I asked if the hat/fascinator was in fact appropriate for an afternoon October wedding she said, "It can go either way." The day after bringing the hat home, I realized it would be totally inappropriate for October and for this particular wedding and in fact didn't really go with the dress. I knew that the store had a no return policy but was hoping I could appeal to the owner's desire to build a good reputation and keep a customer happy. I stopped in but she was out sick, her staff indicated that she wouldn't return it and I was told to call her the next day. I did, but she wouldn't budge with her policy. I even asked if she could help me find something that would actually work and I wouldn't expect a refund even if the replacement was much lower priced. However, no matter what I said her mantra was the same, "we have a firm no return policy." I asked her if she had any ideas of what I could potentially do with the hat because I would never wear it and her response was to wear it to the track in the summer. When I brought it into the store and left it at my wits end, she told me she was tired of me calling, she indicated that I was harassing her and if I didn't leave her store she would call the police. I was mortified by the treatment. Yes, I made a bad decision, but am out of pocket $200 and completely embarrassed by the treatment I received from this woman. DON'T SHOP IN HER STORE!!! read more

I was so shocked to see the poor review listed . I live in Saratoga and am a hat person. I love this shop! The staff and especially the owner are beyond friendly, helpful and so knowledgeable. They have the most beautiful things and never any pressure to buy. I haven't had to return anything but perhaps the person should have checked first to see if the purse would be compatible with her iphone prior to purchasing it. My Fiance went into this hat store looking for a top hat for our wedding. We found the perfect one. The owner was so kind and helpful, she was truly a delight to work with. The store has hats and many other items to complete and entire look. Yes, the prices are a bit expensive, but what do you expect from Broadway.
