flyer I saw at my Barre studio
    Van D.

I discovered a postcard regarding the production of "Christmas is..." at my local Barre studio, and I was pleased when they had an additional showtime added that was convenient for my schedule. Ticket prices vary by productions, but this community college theater is more affordable than going to a big theater. I made my ticket purchase online, and the process was simple enough. Pick the performance and time you want, then pick the seats. Upon check out the direction was to pick up the tickets at the Box Office at least 30 minutes before show time. As suggested, I arrived early to pick up my tickets. Noticing that the people before me had issues communicating with the staff cause of the glass and the face mask, I took out my ID to expedite the process so they can SEE my name. The lady at the box office handed me tickets. I went off to take photos of them... and noticed O-33-34 THESE WEREN'T THE SEATS I PAID FOR!!!!! Oh goodness... Had to go back to the box office with my receipt and all of that showing that my seats should be G12-13. That's 8 rows of difference, not to mention the people with those O seats wouldn't have their tickets when they pick it up at the box office. Such incompetence when I even showed them my ID to get the correct tickets. And box office person was like ohh you're not Charlotte... Lady, I showed you my ID and my name does not spell or sound nearly like a Charlotte. Anyways, on to the seats... there was a poor old gentlemen who fell in the row behind us. And to be honest we didn't notice anything at first because they did a POOR JOB with their emergency training. They bragged about their team's covid training and testing, but they clearly had no emergency training. No sense of authority to manage the situation. They did a terrible job blocking people from the paramedic's way. And half of what should be commands sounded like suggestions. There were so my bystanders in the way of the professionals handing the situation. If I ever have an emergency I hope I don't have it here. Onto the production... not that I hated it but I felt like the marketing did not align well with what I got... Like if I want a strawberry smoothie... I don't want to get a strawberry banana blueberry smoothie that day. The advertised production talked about a show production about Santa's Elves in NYC by the Citrus singers and a live orchestra. The start time was 7pm and I was confused for the first hour with singing and dancing. Like am I at the correct production? Am I at a different show? This whole hour plus pass by and an intermission before my expectation of the Santa's Elves show even started around 8:45pm... and everything ended by 10pm. The production was fine but what I expected and wanted to purchase tickets for was only have of the time there... and the second half where I was tired and over it. The audience was also pretty awful. Lots of noisy inconsiderate folks... There's a face mask mandate and I definitely saw a few folks pull their facemasks down. I acknowledge this was an affordable experience, but I feel like I would prefer to pay more for a better experience. Or more accurately advertised. Oh and I'm not a fan of the digital screen of a background. There were times where the bright lights flashed into the audience in a blinding manner. I like to support students and schools, but my experience was unusually awful.

We had the pleasure of watching a 6-actor play of Pride and Prejudice at the Haugh Theater. Amazing, brilliant, funny! If you see this review in time, there's one more matinee tomorrow at 2! Plenty of parking, two separate entrances, plenty of bathrooms, it's a wonderful venue on the campus of Citrus College.

This is an amazing venue, one would never guess it is a junior college. Lights, sounds and programs available are terrific.

Saw the Glenn Miller Orchestra here a few weeks ago--great show and a great value at this venue! There is a whole season of wonderful shows happening here. Nice to have a local venue and skip the drive into one of the big cities. And free parking! Definitely coming back!

The Haugh Performing Arts Center located on the campus of Citrus College is a great theatre that showcases many kinds of live acts. The theatre which is pronounced "ha" as in hahaha! just finished a weekend showing of Chicago. There are great shows to match every kind of personality. The parking is free, the box office is open before most shows, and the theatre is very nice. It's definitely worth it to see a show here!

APU has a pretty decent theater department, so it is usually a pleasurable and esthetic endevour to go see a production at the Warehouse Theater. Now, remember, all actors and most people involved in production are students, so there can be "oopsies", but you just have to give them grace. They have done so many things in the past, and I am always happy to go out and support them. After all, where in the SGV can you get theater for 10-15 bucks? There are usually about 5 productions during a school year, and you can see what is featured during the season here: http://www.apu.edu/cma/vpa/theaterfilmtv/theater/season/ Theater nights are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm with occasional Sunday afternoon (2 pm) showings. You can buy tickets online, beforehand at the Felix Event Center, or on the night of the performance at the theater ticket office (though they can be sold out). The auditorium is pretty cozy, and they offer beverages and snacks before the show and during intermission. There is plenty of parking and friendly faces : ) Go check it out!

2026 Season - April 4, 2026 - May 17, 2026…read more This visit applies strictly to the very last day of the season - May 17, 2026 As a first-timer to any Renaissance Pleasure Faire, there was a lot of anticipation on my part, having seen numerous videos on social media & YouTube. As always, I think the best policy is always to curb any & all expectations. Parking - Perhaps my biggest criticism of my entire experience. This is a rather specific situation that pertains strictky to ADA Handicap Parking. There is a specific lot that is designated for handicap parking - Lot 3 of the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area (where the Ren Faire takes place). However, Lot 3 is situated farther than most parking = you have to walk much farther away than most of the other guests. It's ironic in that ADA Handicap Parking should allow you to be closer to the event's entrance. Perhaps the only advantage to parking in this distant lot is that your car will not be caught in the middle of the chaos of everyone else trying to leave. It very evident that this was an oversight when faire organizers made decision to have the event take place at Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area. If there's a way to modify this for future seasons, this would be the biggest improvement that they could make. FOOD Tri-Tip Sandwich ($18) - 6.0/ 10 It's to be expected, but you're definitely going to be paying for more than what you receive - inflation, labor costs, etc. That said, it's fairly hard to mess-up tri-tip. It's not necessarily dry, but the drizzle of bbq sauce helps. Frankly, I wished I asked for more bbq sauce (on the side). The tri tip is served in a roll that's slightly wider than a hot dog bun. It wasn't anything to "write home about", but it's seemed like a better option than most. 1 sandwich is only substantial enough to be a snack. Granted, I walked a good 10 minutes (to the jousting arena) before enjoying my sandwich, I think it would had been helpful if it was served much warmer. French Fries - 6.0 / 10 It's french fries. I will say that the portion is very generous. There was more than enough for me & my friend, so I'd even say it'd be enough fro 3-4 people, assuming it's being shared as a side. Again, maybe it's because I waited a good 10 minutes (buying a beer, walking over to the jousting arena) before enjoying the fries, but it might have been helpful if they could be served a bit warmer. They were still pretty crispy (more on the well-done side, which I prefer). Just some things to note (especially as a 1st timer): - Dress-Up. You're in the 16th Century / Elizabethan Era. So knights, nobleman, peasants, merchants, inn-keepers, plague doctors. But basically, in 2026 at least, anything that isn't "modern" (the past 100 years) is fair game. You can literally see almost anything & it wouldn't seem too out-of-pocket. Yeah, you'll get some strange looks & comments, but people get over it fairly quickly. Just dress-up. - Try to speak "in-character". Whatever it is that you decide to go as, try to "play the part". The volunteers / workers will respond to you accordingly & will "play along". Embrace it & have fun. - The focus of the faire is the shops. That's fine. Get your shopping-on & support these vendors. But there's also many games / activities (archery, axe throwing, dunk tank, how long you hang on a bar, etc.), manually-powered rides, performance shows, & craft activities (making chain mail, sewing, casting coins, & other cool stuff). Like anything else, you get what you put in. Bring your enthusiasm & pack your patience. Also knowing what I know now, I'm definitely going to focus more on my next visit with more investment in my costume (granted I came dressed as a humble peasant).
