COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This event currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was here several months ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their event UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is pretty massive. When you enter the grounds, turn left. There you will be directed to pay for parking ($15 for regular cars - general parking, $30 for VIP parking, $23 for RVs and limos, and $38 for buses) and where to park. As mentioned by my excellent buddy, Justin, parking for handicapped individuals freaking suck. Whoever organized this event sucks. Handicapped parking is in lot 3, which is hella far away from the event. You would think it would be much closer to the event, but noooooo. Some idiot organized it to be like this. Why?!?! Please make the entrance closer to the handicapped parking lot in the future. That would make a lot of sense. They take cash and credit cards. Event: The festival offers immersive 14 - 17 century Elizabethan-era entertainment, jousting tournaments, artisanal shopping, and medieval food like turkey legs. The event itself was very fun and entertaining. I had a great time with my close friend. I highly encourage anyone who attends to dress up. If you don't, you will stick out like a very sore and ugly thumb. If you do dress up, costume weapons must be sheathed and peace tied. Also, wear comfy shoes. There is soooooo much walking. It's also hella dusty at this event, which is lowkey on point with ye - old England. To add on, when Justin and I attended this event in mid May, the weather was soooo on point because it was gloomy and overcast. This is exactly how I imagined old timey England during the renaissance. You can absolutely bring food and drinks into the event, but they cannot be picnic food, food that requires heating or refrigeration, alcohol, anything in glass containers, and coolers. You can bring water, but it cannot be opened yet. Or you can bring an empty reusable water bottle for it to be filled up at the event. There are plenty of bathrooms (porta potties and hand washing stations) at this event. Note: While at the event, we didn't see any refillable water bottle stations. Where were they hiding? Food: My bestie and I got the tri tip sandwich and french fries. Honestly, coming into this event, I already knew that the food was gonna be mid. Lmao I had low expectations for the food because I wasn't really there for the food. Plus, I guess this was also kinda lowkey on point with the renaissance era in England because food in that time period was also mid. Lol I was primarily there for the medieval vibes and jousting, which delivered in spades. I would honestly go every year just for the medieval vibes and jousting. Screw the food there. Anyways, the tri tip sandwich was overly priced with a meager amount of meat in the sandwich in a sad ass hot dog bun. It was more of a sad- wich. This is why I removed one star. Flavor wise, it was okay. My friend knows that I'm not the biggest fan of anything BBQ, but I'll eat it anyways. The fries that we got were plentiful for the price point and it was very crunchy. I was disappointed when it wasn't really salted, which made it taste bland TBH. I should also note that the tri tip sandwich and fries were cold by the time we sat down and ate them because we spent like 10 - 15 minutes walking around and finding a place to eat. Don't be like us. Eat your food while it's hot. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum. Still, cash is king at this event. Many vendors only take cash, so bring at least $100 per person.

But if you were unlucky enough to sit in the seats closest to the stage, you lose sight of what's going on. My recommendation is to arrive early so you can sit in the main hall. Every seat there has a great view of the stage. If you have to sit upstairs, make sure to sit where you have a direct view of the stage. If you end up sitting on the ends, you have an impaired view of the stage and you miss seeing part of what's going on because it is blocked so everyone is leaning forward to try and see what they're missing. Good theater. Nice acoustics. Parking is pretty tight but there is extra available parking at the high school and on the street.

Our group appreciated the acting by both our game master and the live actor, as they both added a theatrical element to the experience. I believe the Ministry of Peculiarities only hosts one escape room concept, which is called Hope End. It was on the creepier/unsettling side, but not too scary, so everyone (ranging from scaredy cats to horror enthusiasts) is likely to have a good time. It also accommodated our huge group of eleven (I believe 12 people is the max), and there were plenty of puzzles to go around. I would definitely recommend the Ministry of Peculiarities to anyone looking for a unique escape room experience! Personally, I'm keeping an eye out for updates -- I'd love to come back with my friends if they introduce a new concept.

There are live actor(s) but no physical touch. Their performance is really impressive, which seems more common in LA. Coming from SF, any live actors are usually much more reserved, so this was a thrilling change of pace. Clues are given freely and appropriately, which is a skill in itself and keeps the experience moving from one satisfying puzzle conclusion to the next. Overall I highly recommend Hope's End, it is an enjoyable experience appropriate for our group of 7 people. As a huge escape room fan, I can confidently say this is in the top 10% of escape rooms I've done.

He is a little obsessed with Christmas and the Citrus College Theater but why not?? The theater is beautiful and comfortable, complete with a symphony pit that rises up and down. It is a beautifully modern building with its entrance flanked by a couple vertical mosaic tile "pictures" of trees, one of which is my cell screen saver I liked it so much. See picture. The production is about 2 hours plus about a 15 minute intermission, not too long, not too short. And the intermission breaks the show into two parts, the choir and bells performance of the Citrus Singers first followed by the year's Christmas play complete with appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus. I'm a 52 year old man and I thought I'd never say this but the choir and bells performances are wonderful. Maybe I'm getting old! No, seriously, they performers are fantastic and I absolutely love how the director and his assistant (?) vary the songs ever year with new and creative arrangements. They even did a mashup kind of thing with overplaying verses of two classic Christmas songs. It is truly amazing how the performers remember all the nuances and keep up with zero .mistakes year after year. My absolute favorite part of the first part of the show is when the director adds some comedy into the mix and has the new performers overemphasize their lack of experience and how the senior performers are rather blasé about giving yet another performance year after year. Come on, that's funny! Oh, and how one performer sits and waits to play her one bell note. Okay, it's cute. I also like how they've added some very creative percussionists and dancers at the end of the first half, too. This year's play is called "Christmas is..." and as I type, you've got 3 days left to see it! It is a very cute and creative play involving performers playing various candy bars you know and love as the plot thickens in the Land of Candy. I will leave it at that so as not to give too much away. Again, the length of each performance is perfect because I tend to get antsy. My kids (13 & 16) also loved it and look forward to the play every year. Tickets range from a very reasonable $17-$35 and I think you'd have a good seat anywhere although my BIL always chooses the front or 2nd rows. We also went to see a Rock Band do cover songs back in February this year and it was also great and you can see that my son absolutely loved every second of it.
