    A beautiful outdoor beer garden

This place is so cool! My girlfriend and I were visiting from the U.S. and my girlfriend's sister's boyfriend lives in Berlin and just absolutely swore by this place as the best beer garden in Berlin. He was so right! First, and most importantly, their beer is AMAZING. Germans know their beer and this place is true to that. Secondly, the atmosphere is fantastic on a warm, summer day. One can sit outside on picnic-tables amongst many of local Berliners(?) and enjoy a tall beer. Lastly, one can bring their own food! Our kind host absolutely spoiled us with a great German spread and paired with this fine venue, it made for my favorite night in Berlin. Excellent place to visit! Prost!

This is such a great small brewery! It has been established by the brewers of Technische Universität Berlin and that is why they are located there in Wedding. I must say I do not like the area, but I was so surprised and happy to find this small brewery! They have lots of seasonal beers and some standards, the prices are very fair! I added the menu in the fotos section. For lovers of something stronger than beer I saw they had quite some sorts of whisky and Obstler. You can have a snack there too: the Flammkuchen are really good! You should definitely try! Since I don't like the new branding and the beers of the my ex-favorite brewery Lemkes Brauhaus, I think this will be the place I will go for some good freshly brewed beer.

    Summer seasonal is devine

I hadn't…read moreintended on stopping here but when I found them on Yelp, it looked like my kind of place. A tiny beer garden tucked away in the Market. It's not the easiest place to find since it's the only place in the market that's not out in the forefront. The best way for me to give a navigational tip is that if you're looking at the toilet area, do an about face and head to Heidenpeters. It's literally 180° from there. Their Mosaic session IPA blew me away and I wanted more. Unfortunately they were not able to break a €50 bill so I was only able to sample one additional brew. I went with the Pale and it was okay. Pretty standard if a bit sweet. I would have loved to try more for sure. I felt bad using all change to pay for my beer but it's not as if I didn't have any money. So of course I sent my lovely wife to do the deed. The beertender informed her that they don't ordinarily take change but she made an exception. So I suppose you should bring your card or small bills if you intend to have a few brews here.

For one, there was only a pale ale on tap, when I was hoping for more variety. The taste was very pale ale-y, with a hoppier edge, but it wasn't necessarily stand-out or distinctive. I mean, I love my American microbrews and was hoping his would be a bit more distinct in flavor than the standard pilsner beers regularly available here. Additionally, the service was slooowwwww. I guess that's what you get for visiting on a night like Street Food Thursday, so I can't complain too much, but even so, my wait for food was shorter than this. Also, the fact that I had to stand in line for five minutes to return my glass for Pfand was kind of frustrating, but that's just part of the deal, I suppose. Of course, this review is not the be-all end-all, and I am looking forward to returning, perhaps on a Friday, when the atmosphere is more relaxed and hopefully there are a couple choices on tap. I would really like to give Heidenpeters a four or five-star review, so here's hoping that my first experience was just a fluke.

The warm waitstaff and barkeeps made us feel right at home. Regarding delicious beers, I ordered the Dunkel and my husband ordered a Pilsner. My Dunkel was delicious and STRONG.......I will leave this part for the end of the review. My husband enjoyed his pilsner. This is one of those places that is like a Keller type setting since you are a bit underground like in a grotto. You can easily visit with folks at the tables next to you if they seem open to it. We visited with an interesting couple from New Zealand and it just made the evening even more idyllic. We ordered the bavarian veal sausage with fresh pretzel and sweet mustard, the fraconian grilled sausages with homemade sauerkraut, and the black lentil salad with celery. When I say every single thing I ate was perfection......I mean it. It fulfilled my dreams of eating actual German food in Germany! I have already searched AI and Pinterest for a dupe of that salad. It was so refreshing and delicious with a nice vinegary bite to cut the richness of the sausages. The veal sausage was my favorite with the most amazing delicate flavor. Hey there, restaurant/brewhouse with the longest name ever......we will meet again. I think I might have been saying something similar as my husband sweetly guided my weaving self down the sidewalk after that strong Dunkel!

The restaurant is very small and quaint. It is definitely a spot for locals that we were fortunate enough to have been led to. It is the German equivalent of a tapas bar. After some deliberation, we turned the menus back over to our hostess (who I also believe was a co-owner of the restaurant) and simply asked if they would bring out a couple of each item on the sampler menu and a few of the five or six main entrées that we wanted to try. That begin about an hour of culinary experience not to be forgotten. There is no better way to experience German cuisine! Each of the menu items was wonderful and different and it's own unique way. We tried six or seven different types of sausage a variety of pickled vegetables, regional cheeses and other delicacies all served with a variety of great homemade bread. Although absolutely stuffed, we couldn't resist dessert, so we did the same thing, ordered one of each and shared everything. Portion sizes are small, as you would expect from a tapas bar, the the food quality was exceptional! The prices were reasonable and the environment was great.

We made a reservation months in advance since we didn't want to risk it with a group our size, and everything went super smoothly from the moment we arrived. Our waitress was fantastic. She walked us through the menu, which was super helpful for a group of mostly first timers, and made sure our beers and food came out quickly. We loved the house Kölsch, which kept coming in small half pint rounds until we finally asked to close out. The food was exactly what we were hoping for in our first German meal ie. hearty, comforting, and delicious. The group favorites were the schnitzel, the different wursts, and the crispy fried pork knuckle. Another big plus was how accommodating they were. They even made space for us to store all our luggage while we ate, which made the whole experience that much more relaxed. If you ever find yourself near Berlin Central Station with some time to spare, Gaffel Haus is absolutely worth a visit. Great food, great beer, and a super welcoming vibe.

One half has one of the most famous biergartens in the city. The other half hosts some sort of street food fair every weekend with a large changing array of food carts. We went for the African Food Festival. You only get BRLO beer if you go to the biergarten side. On the food fair side, you get a fixed drink vendor who sells a small selection of soft drinks and bottled beers. (But hey, don't knock German bottled beer.) * * * The location is 1/3 nice 2/3 not so nice. The biergarten is right near an enormous urban park. It is a more of a flat sports space than a dramatic forest, garden or lakeside. Berlin has lots of parks with the last three. But hey, flat parks are nice too. Over the whole lot runs one of the largest subways in the system. Nearby are all sorts of highways. So this is not the most sylvan tranquil location you can find for drinking beer outside. Either you really like BRLO beer, or you like the food carts at your particular food festival. * * * When we were there, the African Food Festival was not the greatest. The SHOPPING was fantastic. There was all sorts of colorful African wear to buy. I bought a spectacular bag from a Kenyan stand. The food was unfortunately on the meh side ... We tried food from multiple different vendors Including vendors for which there were long lines. Somehow the thrills were never there. I imagine if you go on a day with really good food trucks, Your experience will be different than ours. Rumor also has it - although I can not substantiate this That BRLO's own food on their side of the wall is pretty good. * * * I could be talked into going back and trying BRLO's own domestic side. But there are many spectacular biergartens in Berlin And many are known for their food as well as their beer. I imagine BRLO is a great thing if you live in the neighborhood. Otherwise save your trips to under the subway for weekends When you are particularly excited about the food festival de jour.
