During my life, I've been exposed to a lot of radiation. I've had interventional fluoroscopy and CT…read morescans performed multiple times. Because of this, I try to limit non-essential radiation exposure. I went to Lumos to get my teeth cleaned. The dentist told me that I needed to get an x-ray first, which I declined. Then, she didn't ask why I declined, she didn't ask whether my family has a history of radiation-associated leukemias, she didn't ask whether I was on immunosuppressive medicines that could make me more vulnerable to radiation. The dentist didn't ask me anything. She rudely told me that I shouldn't come to Lumos. The entire process felt disrespectful and dehumanizing. I would recommend against coming here.

He was still heavily medicated and tripped and stumbled his way out. I had to find a wheel chair on my own from the Yale office to get my sedated child safely to the car. Against my better judgement we took our youngest there too. I fully recognize that even using best practices there can be unwanted outcomes. When I expressed my concerns first to the nurse than the doctor that my child was reporting pain and was pounding on the arm rest to get them to stop or to acknowledge them and he was shushed and told to stop moving. Certainly there are limits to medication dosages and sometimes pain can happen. That is not the problem. Its the hubris and arrogance coupled with the gaslighting from staff. The reluctance to admit a complications. That is the problem. The doctor was better about it and had a reasonable explanation for every concern though was not apologetic/sympathetic that there were compications. The nurse was the real offender. Starting by saying my child was just being emotional. Minimizing this child's concerns and acting almost put out by my asking questions respectfully. Coastal has a nursing problem.
