After 3 attempts to deliver a dresser, I'm beyond frustrated. 1st delivery: I waited all day only to have the dresser arrive damaged. After a 3-week wait, the 2nd delivery was another disaster. I waited all day again, only to get a call at 6:15 PM saying the replacement dresser was broken. Then, 2 weeks later, the 3rd attempt was an even bigger joke. The driver didn't show up. At 6:40 PM, I got a call saying he needed 45 minutes to arrive--after I had waited all day! When I spoke to the manager at the Pineville, NC store, the best they could do was schedule another attempt 2 weeks out, with no guarantee of a daytime delivery. I asked to cancel the order and have them pick up the damaged piece. A few minutes later, I got a call saying they could pick up the damaged dresser in 2 days but couldn't deliver a replacement until mid-December. Where's the logic in that? This has been an absolutely unbelievable customer service experience. For a company that calls itself customer-focused, this is unacceptable. On the third delivery attempt, Haverty's sent out a manager, Ethan, who was phenomenal! He definitely knew what he was doing and guided the work crew in the delivery of my couch. First, I'm not a first-time unhappy customer. I have many furniture items from them bought over the years and have been happy. A King pillow top hybrid mattress purchased a year ago, just like the one in another room that I purchased from them previously started to develop a hump in the middle. The correct characterization is that the pillow top that is compressed when we sleep on the sides is not returning to the height of the center.. because the difference in height is not noticeable at the ends of the mattress where a lesser weight is placed. "Customer Care" (euphemism) came out. The guy, wordlessly, measured the difference, in the center as I recall, said nothing else, could not be tempted to make any comments, said CC would be back in touch. I called them, and get ready for their excuse, and I paraphrase: " The difference measured in the center is not sufficient to void the warranty. Call us when the height reaches .. forget what she said.. I think it was 2" Let me translate that. "We know you have to struggle to move up to the center of the hilltop right now, but the Manufacturer won't let us honor the warranty until you absolutely can't get there. In any case, we want YOU to measure the difference and call us then and we'll tell you that the warranty has expired. Notice, and I see this all the time. Haverty sold you the merchandise but at warranty time it's not them, not invented here excuse. I cancelled an outstanding order I had at the time. Color me gone. read more

I've sent every photo requested, returned every phone call and email. My chair is still broken with no appointment set to replace or repair it. I have been more than patient. Let me start by saying I have shopped at Havertys before. About 2 weeks ago I came in looking for a Sofa. I was immediately greeted by Jack. I thought he looked familiar, and while we were talking I figured it out! Jack had hired me for my very first job when I was only 17 years old! We gave each other the biggest hug; I could not have been more delighted!! He graciously showed me around the Showroom and pretty quickly we zeroed in on The Sofa! The great news is it could be ordered with a Shay's attached instead of the L Shape arrangement as it was presented on the floor. We emailed back and fourth for a week and a half and today I decided to go back in. Jack was there and we Both sat on it again. I decided to go with it. This was by far the best furniture buying experience I've ever had. It's actually one of the best shopping trips in general I've ever had. I've been looking for sofas for over a month and was dreading coming into another store. Let me just say that our sales man, Scot Moore, made the experience seamless and hassle free! I hope the company sees this review and rewards him for his great job! He wasn't your typical pushy sales man trying to sell you stuff you don't need or want. He pointed out where items were in the store and gave us space to shop. He was available when we had questions and were ready to make our purchase. I was excited to find my sofas there! I'd already been to five different stores and was about to just give up and sit on my floor :) I found a sectional that I loved and told Scot. He let me know that the sectional also came in a sofa and loveseat that they didn't have on the sales floor. He printed out pictures and I fell in love with the sofas. I emailed him the measurements of my living room and he had a designer create a drawing of what the furniture would look like in my home. That's how I was able to decide to get the 2 sofas instead of the sectional. When my sofas were delivered, the gentlemen that delivered them were careful and did a great job of not leaving a mess. Sofas were padded, wrapped, and in perfect condition. I'm so happy with my purchase! Next time I need furniture I will definitely be contacting Scot Moore. I was 100% comfortable with making my purchase because Scot said that I had 3 days after delivery to decide if I wanted to change from my purchase of the sofas to the sectional. After owning this sofa for less than a year and a half, I would not recommend buying from Haverty's. The quality of the sofa is horrible. We have had to replace several cushion covers under the 1 year warranty because they ripped at the seams. After the warranty expired, it was a hassle trying to replace other ripped covers at no cost. We ordered the sofa in January of 2020. The sofa is finally scheduled for delivery in November of 2021. It took almost one year for the sofa to be delivered. Even given the issues with supply and staffing this wait is not acceptable. While there was regular communication we were given date after date after date for estimated ETA. None of these were even remotely reliable. While Paul was polite and good to work with and I believe he tried what he could. I will not be purchasing furniture from Havertys in the future. Update unforunelty during delivery damaged was done to our home. The delivery team did not put down a mat to protect the hardwood flooring. Two of the employees attempted to brute force push the sofa through the front door. This resulting in chipping and scratching of the front door and hardwood floor and denting and scratching of the door fram. read more

Very happy with our purchase! We went in about a month ago and looked for bedroom furniture, Orlando assisted us. It was nice to be able to look around and not have a salesman following you around. He gave us his card and quoted us on some things. About a month later we came back and decided to buy the furniture during the huge labor day weekend sale. When we went back that place was crazy busy! Parking lot full, etc. But among the mist of the craziness we asked for Orlando again and he helped us make the purchase. The furniture was delivered two days later and the delivery went smoothly. The furniture itself looked even better in our house and it is top notch. Super high quality and durable. Marla is extremely knowledgeable on all things furniture, she has a good eye for things that match well, she's not pushy at all like some sales associates at other stores can be. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, she made the whole experience fun and stress free! The delivery went smoothly as well. There are some delays in our furniture due to COVID, but they have been keeping constant communication with us and letting us know where the furniture is as well as estimated arrival. The one that was delivered had damaged upholstery that was even marked with red tape. I was promised that it would be repaired. Then I sat on the sofa, heard a "pop" and sank about four inches. Will not be purchasing furniture here again. Worked with Scott Moore and Orlando Diaz back in September of 2014. Purchased a living room table set and a chair. I was also sold a Guardsman Gold warranty plan by Mr. Moore who showed me a list of items they covered. What Mr. Moore did not go over is how ridiculous and outdated the claims process is with Guardsman and that if you don't fax or mail in a claim AFTER completing an online form they will deny your request. It's just a series of hoops they make you jump through to avoid servicing your claim. It's too bad because something like this is just the type of situation that leads me to find a way to mention NOT to shop at Havertys in almost any social conversation. read more

i ordered a piece of furniture from havertys in April for Delivery in June. When the piece was delivered it was damaged, which is fine but the way they handled the situation was far from professional. i was initially told i'd have to wait another month to get the piece then i was informed that i'd recieve it a week later. Prior to delivery i was told there had been an error and the only piece they had left was damaged. we reached out to another haverty's asking about their floor unit asking if they were able to sell that similarly to how the other store had, they declined. On 7/4 I cancelled my order, went to a competitor and ordered furniture to fill two rooms in my new home. my issue here is that my cancellation and payment was apparently never issued, i spoke with Haverty's on Friday asking about the status of my refund, they advised me to call in Monday so i did and they said it was never processed. i finally got in touch with someone to process my refund on Monday. Overall this was a very poor experience, my salesperson was great and i liked the products offered, but i would never deal with this company just given the situation which was triggered by one individual issue. read more

Let me just cut to the chase. Horrible Service!! Now the longer version. We ordered two barrel chairs for our library. We debated on the delivery of the chairs. Should we pick them up or pay for delivery. Since they offer "Top Drawer Delivery" we said ship it. Our scheduled delivery time was between 2:00 and 4:30. They arrived at 6:30pm with the furniture. Okay that happens from time to time. Not what I would expect from the "Top Drawer Deliver Service" I was a bit taken back when the delivery guy walked in with wet shoes right across our new thousand dollar rug. No time for booties for him. The other delivery guy did have the foresight to put booties on over his boots since it's raining and muddy outside. They unwrapped our furniture. The first chair had about a 1 inch slice in the back. The second chair seemed to be okay. We notified the delivery guys that we didn't want the damaged chair. He stated that the company would call us ten minutes after they check out of the delivery. He stated that they would send us a replacement chair and pick the damaged one up. We bought the story as it was sold. Like a couple of dummies we awaited the call. Guess what thirty minutes later we realized the call wasn't coming. So we called customer care. They tell us sorry we don't know why they told you we would call in ten minutes that's not true. We then ask what do we do with the chair? Well you shouldn't have accepted it if you weren't satisfied with it. We exclaimed we asked and they told us that we had to keep it. The company would send a replacement and pick the junk chair up when the replacement was delivered. We hear no that's not true either. We will have to call you on Monday to schedule a repair appointment. We stated we don't want the chair it is ripped. We want a new chair. Oh well can you send us a picture of the damaged chair. Sure. Okay well we will call you on Monday to schedule. So we are now stuck with the bad chair for who knows how long. They sure don't hesitate taking money. Customer service sucks though. The moral of this is "Top Drawer Service" is dirty shoes on the new rug, people lying to your face, and of course followed with a heaping helping of you're out of luck on the phone. So take a chance if you must. I'm sure when they deliver chairs that don't come from Sanford and Sons back lot. It might be okay. read more

My wife spent several thousand dollars. Then we were told it would be six weeks for delivery. Delivery day arrived and we were told two different time frames. After waiting for half a day, I was then told it would be three more days after being told before that it was out for delivery. In short, when they give you a delivery time, you will be lucky if you get it some time that day. Once they get your money, customer service goes out the window. Here we still sit (on the floor and camping chairs) Because we aren't important enough to get our beloved pieces of a couch delivered before Christmas. I ordered on September 7th 2020 and it is December 18th with no furniture in sight or delivery set. To say I am saddened by the lies and the cancelled plans for each holiday with loved ones has been a HUGE disappointment over and over. I URGE you to reconsider HAVERTYS. Everything about this furniture buying experience was completely opposite what I expected. It has been a dreaded item on my "to do list" for a while. After finally deciding to start looking, I went to several stores on "furniture row" and ended up at Haverty's last. I appreciated most the no pressure sales so that's the first big plus. Jeff, my Sales Consultant, let me wander the showroom so I could see what I liked/didn't like. After settling on a particular living room set, he introduced me to one of their Design Consultants, Chanel, to help pick out fabrics, layouts, etc. Even though I had measurements for the living room, they also came out to the house so they could see the overall space. My order was ready much quicker than expected and was delivered this week. Chanel was here to make sure it was placed correctly and to make sure I was pleased. The Delivery guys were great--on time and quick to get the job done. I am pleased with the purchase so far. And I'd definitely recommend Chanel and Jeff for your next furniture purchase. Ah yes...time again for some new living room furniture. After getting new sofas every couple of years, we decided to give some leather furniture a try. We found a couple of beautiful pieces and got a quote from our salesperson, Jeff. We thanked him and went to check out some competitors' options to compare. I'm not a huge fan of the all-day shopping events, and my preference was for the Haverty's pieces, so I decided to go back and see if Jeff could knock off the shipping charges to keep the price around 3 grand. He looked incredibly annoyed (and why wouldn't he...it eats into his commission). He had to "speak with someone" about getting the price down. He also asked if I would buy today if he could get the price of the shipping knocked off. Which of course, led to my belief that I'd be pulling out my wallet in a couple of minutes. Here's where my decision to find a new store, or at the very least, work with another salesperson comes into play. When speaking with Jeff, I expressed that I wanted to stay around or under 3 grand to stay within my budget...that...and...my wife wasn't exactly thrilled about purchasing a leather set to begin with. Annoyed that I was asking for "free shipping" ($120) on a $3,000 purchase, Jeff decides that the best thing to tell me...is...that I should have been looking at furniture I can afford. Did he really just say that? There's no way I heard that, right? Now there's two sides to me...the one that could have handed him my business card and discussed the difference between the words "budget" and "afford," and the one that was in total shock as he walked away to talk to a manager. While my nature tends to lean towards the former, I was certain that any discussion past this point would have been a waste of breath. To be fair, i was already receiving a $100 discount for every thousand I spent (not including the $300 warranty). Since the price only came to $2700 without taxes and warranty, it would only be $200 off. I walked in to speak with Jeff for a deal on shipping. I was prepared to leave and buy elsewhere if he was unwilling to negotiate. The only reason I'm updating my review is to bring light to a poor choice of how to speak to a customer and an unwillingness to be flexible. Profit margin is considerably higher in the furniture business than in most other retail outlets. As a returning customer I expect some flexibility in maintaining the relationship. Acting like the $120 delivery charge would bring the net profit below all costs was absurd...and if it's not absurd...Haverty's business model must be. read more
