We were matched with Samantha for our recent 5-day trip to Big Island with our 4 month old…read moredaughter. She was amazing and even in the short duration our baby really bonded with her and enjoyed their time together. She was super punctual, flexible with adjusting some hours based on checkin and checkout times, and we could tell she really enjoys caring for little ones. Thanks to her, we were able to step away and explore a bit. Also were generally able to unwind during meals etc knowing she was cared for even if in the next room. She also helped with bottle and pump cleaning, general housekeeping, unpacking and packing, laundry etc while the baby slept which really took a lot off our plate during the short trip. The process of requesting a nanny with Malihini Keiki care and being matched also was super seamless and all online - I only got around to it the week before our trip but they were prompt with getting back with a match within 48 hours. Would highly recommend!

Update: 2 days later after our 1 star review incident (scroll down to read with photos)…read more I had a talk with the owner Heidi and she made up for the experience by 1) watching the video and audio footage, 2) took the time to hear me out, 3) terminated Lydia's time with her agency, and got Lydia to 100% refund me, 4) offered me 2 hours of free nannying on her dime. She went above and beyond to remedy and let me know that if I ever felt it was unsafe with a current nanny that I could call/reach out to get reassigned (which I did not know). I did reach out with 1 hour left with Lydia but felt like I had no choice as I was trying to pack for a flight that took off 2 hours later. Anyway, this solidifies why as a parent you should have some sort of recording device like a Nanit to protect your little ones because there are people like Lydia everywhere regardless of what nanny service you use. I've had nannies in Kona, Honolulu, Seattle and Houston so I definitely know people like her exist. So I'm changing my 1 star review to a 5 star review. I thought about taking down what happened with Lydia and the screenshots from our Nanit but it needs to be a teaching lesson to everyone (parents and nannies) that you ought to behave like someone is watching you, especially if you're on the clock/being paid. Thank you the owner Heidi again. --------- Below is a 1-star review written May 2025/2 days ago: I usually have an amazing experience with Malihini Keiki Care as a repeat customer. Sometimes I use them 4 times in a month for work or hospital events as we live on 2 different islands. Cory, Petra and Sophie are great. I read a review from 8 months ago about Lydia on here that makes me wonder if that parent had a camera in their room. Well we do and it captures not only video but also audio. I noticed a change in Lydia once I left. She took personal calls, was on her phone while watching our almost 2 year old. Not only was she taking personal calls but she was also FaceTiming & included a few times our son's face to a stranger. Also she made a racial remark saying she was culturing our son by having Mulan on our tv. It's very sad to see because before I leave, she says "we are going to have so much fun!" And I see a change when I tell her that I'm coming back from my fundraising event for the hospital and that there is a Nanit camera in the living so I have been watching. As any parent knows, the Nanit is not a hidden camera but a widely sold and transportable device that easily connects on WiFi. I think this is probably a one time incident or this person actually behaves this way but didn't realize they would be caught especially with audio. Anyway in any scenario as a parent, and I think if Lydia is ever assigned to you (especially) have a camera out. I would call this a 1 star experience as it was sad watching my toddler playing by himself while Lydia took on a long FaceTime while getting paid $30 per hour and I brought her a gluten free lunch that I went out of my way for her.
