i found Hawaii Glass Tint on Yelp and read the reviews. I booked an appointment and showed up on time. He quoted me $80 for tint removal which I had an illegal tint, which did not pass inspection. He took approximately 2 hrs to remove it. But then I decided since I was there, I better tint the whole car with legal tint. He was going charge me $300 bucks for everything, but then up the price cause I used credit card, to $320, plus tax... came out $335.18...at first I gave him rave reviews. But the next day, I found out my car antenna got ripped apart, mind you, it was storming that day, and I just went home afterwards and parked in my garage. It's a new car, and was never broken to begin with.... I would not recommend him to anyone... sorry Alan. read more

Long overdue review. My hubby's Chevy Avalanche did not pass safety inspection because the tinted windows on the driver's & passenger's side were too dark. This had puzzled us because we had just bought this pre-owned last year on Maui & a safety inspection was done by the dealer & it passed then. Not sure what had happened but it may have been one of those, "I know a guy...." even though it was purchased by a reputable dealer. We had less than a week to get it corrected before the re-inspection appt. We started hunting around for someone that can do it without costing us an arm & a leg. After researching a couple of places, we decided to stop in at Hawaii Glass Tinting to see if we can make an appt. We were already at Pearlridge & on our way home. This was on a Saturday afternoon around 2PM. We didn't think any place would be able to help us since it was later in the day & many places closed early. HGT is easy to miss if you're not watching. It's located on the same lot & next to Mobile Car Audio just past Pearl Kai & across the street from Boston's Pizza. It's a small office you'll see once you pull in the first driveway going east on Kamehameha Hwy. There are 3 parking stalls. We pulled in & Al, the owner was working on a vehicle. We let him know what needed done, thinking he would let us know when to come back for an appt. Instead, he said he could do it that day but to give him about 20 minutes. He had my hubby back in to a covered stall. We sat on the ofc steps since his ofc door was locked to wait but then Al offered us chairs & unlocked the ofc door for us to sit inside. Once he started on our car, it didn't take long at all for him to strip off the dark tinting. He was highly professional & efficient in what he was doing. When he got done, my hubby asked what we owed. Al gave a price & when hubby brought out his credit card, Al asked if we had cash. His Yelp business profile shows he accepts credit cards so he didn't say he doesn't, he just asked for the alternative. Probably because it was a small job compared to bigger jobs like tinting a car but either way, we paid with cash. I don't remember what he charged, only that it was very reasonable & affordable, considering we didn't have an appt. In speaking to the owner, it appears like he's a one-man shop. I asked him if he owned 2 companies since I saw there was an Al's Tinting across from Anna Miller's & next to Texaco. He told us just the one & that the other one is a different owner. He also said many of his customers have gotten confused & that he's lost business because of that. Overall, we were highly pleased with our service & we left satisfied customers. Highly recommend Hawaii Glass Tinting & Al's a nice guy to deal with, great experience. And the happy ending to this is we passed our safety inspection. Mahalo Al! read more

Needed my back window tint removed in order to get my safety check because it was bubbling. Tried to do it myself at home and made a mess. Alan was quick to reply to my quote request and was able to squeeze me in the next day. Paid a little more than originally quoted because I had made such a mess trying to do it myself, but even with that it was still cheaper than what some other places had quoted me. I was complaining to my wife that when I drive in the sun for an extended time my arm gets burnt by the sum so she suggested that I get my truck tinted. I called the bigger well known companies and all of them gave me a price in the $400 range to tint the 4 side windows and the rear windshield of my F150 truck. This was for the expensive ceramic tinting. I did not want to spend that much so I kept calling and happened upon Hawaii Glass Tinting in Aiea. It is a one man business who has been in operation since the 1970's. The owner, sorry forgot his name, said that he was the very first business to bring ceramic tinting to Hawaii. He had a cancellation so he took my truck in as soon as I got there in 10 minutes. One hour later I picked up my truck and had no complaints, I could see no flaws. I needed a tint removed from the back window of an A4 convertible (which is a fairly tiny window). I got many quotes and was honestly low on hope until I contacted Allen at Hawaii glass tinting. He was available at the time and he quoted me 30 to 40 bucks which was the lowest price I found but the best opportunity at the time do to my schedule. FYI auto trim Hawaii quoted $105 Al's tinting quoted $60 Jun's tinting quoted $50 Jun's was nice and had a decent quote, but I would have had to wait. Otherwise the other places I went were overpriced. The window did have defroster lines but that is not as difficult as some make it out to seem. Allen was great and took the tint off within forty or so min and also went as far as to take off some adhesive that was on other windows from a separate incident. Found Alan on here as I was searching for a place to tint our newly bought used 2016 Camry LE. Hubby called him on Monday and was able to get in on Thursday. We're very happy with the work! I picked up the car since I work nearby, so when my husband got to take a look at his work once I got home he was very happy. Said you could tell it was QUALITY work. The process was very easy peasy. Dropped off the car, handed him the keys, and done. We Didn't even go over what kind of tint other than the darkest he could go legally. Wish Hawaii would ease up on that! My husband said all he told him was that he wanted UV protection. We basically handed him the keys and trusted him to do what he does best. We couldn't be happier. Will definitely return when we need another car tinted! His prices are very reasonable also! Some friendly tips: He works out under a small tent in the same lot as that Mobile Audio place, so unless you want to walk down to Pearlridge or Pearl Kai to kill time be sure to get a ride. It's on Kam Hwy shortly after Pearl Kai shopping ctr on your right. Between that stop light by American Savings/Pearl Kai shopping ctr and the stop light after that (KFC is on your left). If you've passed the KFC and went beyond the light towards the stadium then you've long passed it. Go slow once you pass Pearl Kai. It'll be a quick right into the drive way! Don't forget Kam Hwy is only 2 lanes thanks to the rail, so keep your eyes open. If not you'll have to make a U Turn at the next light and back around you go. Thanks again, Alan! Called this place after going to a couple shops and being quoted $90 for tint removal. This was the best deal. First of all, Alan is a nice guy, and is honest. Paid $50 for removal. He did such a good job and cleaned the windows very well. I was able to get my safety and registration updated right after. I feel like the other places were trying to rip me off, but Alan was fair about his prices. Just for doing such a good job at an honest price, and the service he offered i will take my car back here when it comes time to tint. I also just called to see if I can come in with no appointment and he told me to just leave it and he'll work on it in between cars. That's awesome if you ask me. Looked all over yelp for someone to tint my car asap. Saw all the reviews here and knew this was the place I wanted to bring my car. So I probably called on a monday and was able to schedule something for the Friday that same week! He quoted me over the phone just by telling him what type of car so I knew how much to bring. The location isn't hard to find its just a mess going that way in pearl city... when I drove in I parked by the tent and just asked around to see who I was looking for. He told me it would take about 4 hrs so I gave him the keys and walked my kids over to pearlridge to hang out. After the four hours we were pooped so we walked back and he was pretty much done. Gave me some paperwork, explained the aftercare and that was it. I think the only thing I'd suggest is having a ride come with you but even if you don't have one the mall isn't far, and there's also pearl Kai center right next door... no biggie. Super simple. I'd highly recommend this place to everyone I know and if I ever have other vehicles that need tinting, he's got my business as long as he's around! read more

Went in for estimate. I have a Toyota corolla. I was trying to do tint removal for back window and trunk window. He tries to charge me $150 for just those. I felt it was ripped off or tryna money me coz I'm a young female. But Alan was nice yi do me estimate for free. But the charges was too much! Went to kings kustom tinting in waipahu and they charge me $75 for back and trunk window only big difference. And $120 to remove all. They worked me in right away!!!! I thought I would share this. We just shipped over our car to Hawaii, and needed our windows to be tinted right away due to the climate change. I made a few phone calls to get an estimate, and it's true, you get the best rates here. It's about $20-$40 cheaper from other companies. We brought our car to Alan, after he gave me a quote on the phone. When he saw our truck, he said he has to do additional work due to our 'suicide doors' that I forgot to mention on the phone.
