I can not tell you how much I enjoy living here! The apartments are top notch and the staff is great. If you have any problems they will take care of it immediately. Everyone is so professional but extremely nice too! I am so glad that I moved here. My little ChiPug Brandy loves it here too. The Paw Park is excellent and the walking paths are the best! I don't like complaining, however considering I have health issues, I specifically asked prior to moving in if tenants are allowed to smoke in their apartment? I was told no, but that's not the case. I have called to no avail for eight months now and each time I'm told they'll look into it. There's also a loud abusive guy above me and I've called the police several times, and I do not feel safe!!! The carpet appeared fine when I first moved in but after two weeks, the stains showed up, and it takes two vacuum cleaners to get the dirt out. Also the pipes are covered in black build up, so I've had to buy my water. Again, I just want to be in a smoke free apt, & feel that I'm safe. read more

Excellent place to live! The staff go above and beyond here at Hawthorne at the Meadows. When they find something that's wrong, they fix it! Things are scheduled with regular upkeep, and you are notified when it's going to happen. You feel very welcomed and even your pets are important. Having been a homeowner & not lived in an apartment since I was 18, I was uncertain how I would fit in but the transition has been painless. There are monthly socials, always something going on. If you are friendly, people are friendly in return.... You like the feeling you're living in a happy, thriving community. Come on by, take a tour! read more

My husband and I moved from out of state and were not able to see our apartment prior to signing our lease. Had we done so, I highly doubt we would've moved in. It was clear by the painted switch covers and closet shelving, overspray on trim and general lack of cleanliness that attention to detail was not a strong suit of the maintenance team. It was apparent that fixing problems wasn't either as most of our issues weren't fixed correctly. The large tear in the cut-rate vinyl flooring was never fixed, the garbage disposal that was frozen and full of putrid, moldy food at move in wasn't fixed properly and the spout in the bathroom shower continued to fall off the wall, to name a few. In addition to poor maintenance, the kitchen cabinets in our unit were outdated, severely worn, cracked and were spotted with randomly stuck on oversized furniture felt in place of bumpers. Topped with outdated laminate counters, which were buckling and cracked, exposing the particleboard underneath, I fail to see how these apartments are labeled as "luxury." Unfortunately, our master bedroom wall was shared with the stairwell and our unit faced the parking lot. Overall, the noise level was barely tolerable during our stay. Regardless of the time of day, there was constant noise. Neighbors could be heard talking outside with windows and doors shut, dogs barked consistently and management allowed towing at all hours of the night, which caused car alarms to go off throughout the night when most residents are trying to sleep. I would not recommend Hawthorne at the Meadows. Though the grounds are fairly well maintained and there are some desirable amenities, the apartments themselves are mediocre at best and certainly not a good value in my opinion. read more

We have lived here for 7 months and have not had one problem. Anytime we have a question or concern it is addressed immediately. Staff is friendly. Patty is amazing! We loved the floor plan, grounds and amenities but she is the main reason we chose this complex over the other 12 we looked at before relocating to the area last year. We planned on only staying a year and then buying in the area but life is so simple here that we have no plans on buying anytime in the near future. read more

Units are great, staff is below par. Since change of management mid-2018 quality of service has declined. Staff makes up accusations without proof and is chummy with certain residents. Move out fees are ridiculous, charged 80 to re mount small shelf and blind in bedroom. Would not reccomend! read more

This is an awesome apartment complex to call home. I feel very safe with all the fellow officers who live within the complex. The office staff is always very willing to help, always have a smile on their face, and are always more than happy to try and accommodate your needs for which ever apartment you may prefer. They have many other things to offer like the bark park which helps a lot because I have a younger dog, the path by the pond is wonderful when you need to get away, and the workout room is very nice as well. If your needing something new before the holidays give them a call! Don't hesitate. They're wonderful! read more

The apartments are beautiful and spacious (at least the 3 bedroom unit's w/balcony and/or Sun rooms. The grounds are so-so. There's no play equipment for children and not a whole lot of room on the grounds for kids to do much of anything. There is NOT enough Parking-We were told we would have 2 parking spots prior to signing the lease in December 2009, upon signing the Manager advised us that they can only guaranteed 1 spot per apartment. I've personally had to walk 2-1/2 blocks to park my car. The builder is aware of the parking but, refuses to do anything about it. As a Professional Executive myself; the Management team here is absolutely appalling-If you went to college and lived in a dorm; you had more flexibility than you do at the Meadows. The current Manager of the complex is absolutely unprofessional in her daily interaction with the tenants. Rules change daily and without notice on a constant basis. Several Adult professionals have lost pool privileges over allegations that were never investigated. Easlan Management is the property management company for The Meadows in Kernersville. On ONE day alone in July 2010; Easlan Management received 17-20 phone calls/complaints on the Manager. The telephone lines into Easlan were busy for hours; once through people were actually told by the receptionist that there were too many calls on hold and not enough time to write down messages; as voicemail boxes were already filled. This is absolutely unacceptable. Although, we haven't had any issues with the Manager of The Meadows; we have several friends we've made during our time here. We have witnessed the cruel actions of the Manager; refusing to provide rental references for those families being evicted - I should preface the majority of the evictions have nothing to do with late rent; rather childish complaints. Our advice: If you want to feel secure in knowing you will have a place to live for the duration of the lease you sign, you don't want to worry if you will receive a negative rental reference - not because of late rent; rather a disagreement with the wrong person/family, or if you're young and looking to build credit, or simply want security in knowing the lighting and parking are sufficient --- don't rent at the Meadows in Kernersville. read more

Hawthorne advertises themselves as luxury apartments. That is only because the appliances are black. They may be black, but they are junk. They put the cheapest appliances known to man in these apartments. The community itself would be beautiful if not for the trash compactor always running over, the management staff not enforcing rules about dog poop, and residents (and their kids) being allowed to leave trash, food and debris all over the staircases and walkways. If I had it to do all over again, I would NEVER come to this community and I will warn anyone looking for an apartment not to come here. read more

We've been at hawthorne for a little over three yrs , I must say they have completely given up on cleaning the passageways, there's spider webs with baby spider eggs everywhere, for this reason we are no longer able to open our windows without getting spiders come in every time, they used to bring a leaf blower around and now they cant even do that. They need to reinforce that trash can not be left outside of the doors on passage ways for weeks,the trash will sit there with bad odor and it got to a point where I had to pick up the trash myself and throw it away. I completely support their parking policy where its only two vehicles with a sticker on the windshield, because I have a noticeably obvious sticker on my window I would've never expected to have my car towed twice ! in under a year they've done this by mistake, its ridiculous. The residents that I've encountered either fighting outside our windows, one neighbor had his parole officer almost kicking the front door down. Another resident smokes weed 24/7 the odor is disturbing. The passageways are just filthy its embarrassing when people come over and they have to ask why we have so many spider webs in our entrance. Rent is too high for the quality of care that the apartments are in, my dishwasher had maggots in it when we moved in, after requesting service 4 times we still have the same critters the first 3 times no one came even after they told us they'd be sending someone. The One star is for the clean pool. read more

I 100% agree with Tracy C's recent review of Hawthorne at the Meadows. My family moved into Hawthorne at the Meadows in February 2015. The management staff was a huge part of the reason we chose to live there. The community feel was wonderful, and the managers there really did anything and everything to make sure tenants were happy. The grounds were well maintained. Rent was pricey, but the "resort feel" made it worth it to us. Management installed a new extended walking trail around the pond, a putting green, outdoor fitness area, a fire pit, a fountain in the middle of the pond, pillows for the lounge chairs around the pool, and they quickly replaced a treadmill that had broken. Unfortunately that all changed quite drastically in the fall of 2015 with a sudden change of management (that tenants were not even notified about). Here are the negative things I've noticed since this change. 1. Management staff is always in the office and is never out and about checking on things. Residents are not made to feel welcome in the clubhouse. Community socials are not well advertised and are at inconvenient times. 2. The grounds became very poorly maintained. There is dog waste everywhere! Notices are put on every door with a threat of a fine. I don't know how management would fine someone since they are never out of the office to notice or care. 3. Trash compactor is often overflowing with trash. 4. Management seems unaware of how to help residents with the "moving out" policies. A hefty early termination fee will be enforced if you try to leave early-- this was not being enforced earlier. Management is very confused about their own policies and unable to effectively communicate them to tenants. Their mistakes can cost you money! 5. Management had the nerve to call my family 4 days before Christmas (TWO whole months prior to the end of our lease) so they could assess any damages and buy what they needed to repair and be able to rent out our apartment as soon as possible. Clearly the "living it" motto is not in effect, and tenants are just a number. 6. I became concerned after talking with a neighbor that had moved out. She was upset that painters were in her apartment before her lease was up and some of her personal items were missing. I spoke with management and I was assured that that was an isolated incident and that our apartment was ours until the last day, and no one would be allowed in our apartment. **The last day of our lease (Feb. 2016) my husband and I went to clean out the last few items we had there. We saw very clear evidence that our ceiling had already been painted. Luckily nothing we had there was worth stealing, but we were very upset over the principle of letting strangers in our apartment just so they could get a head start on renting to someone else. This is just another example of tenants being treated like dollar signs and not like a member of a community. In closing, I would not recommend moving into Hawthorne at the Meadows. For the amount of money rent costs, I'm sure there are better run apartments out there. read more

If your expectations are low this is the apartment complex for you! We initially filled out and application in April for an August move in as we requesting a ground floor apartment. Everyone in the office said no problem, that was plenty of time. In July we still had not heard anything so we connected management. We were informed that August 15 would be the new move in date. The first week of August we were informed that it would be the 22nd. The complex has a unit available for overnight guests so we reserved 2 nights in July for August 21 and 22. The unit was not ready (it had never been furnished) and the previous tenant was obviously a very heavy smoker. The staff convinced us that it was related to the tub refinishing. We had to leave all the windows and doors open because the stale smoke smell was overwhelming. Even a cheap hotel would not have tried to pass this apartment off as a clean room. We were compensated for the 2 night charge after we complained repeatedly. Today was the last straw. We had put our name on a "list" requesting a garage near our apartment. When we saw the garages being advertised as available we contacted the office. They informed my husband the "list" had been lost. As they were handing him the keys another staff member said they had promised another tenant the garage and took the keys back. Finally on another note we expected there to be noise from the tenant above us, but I did not think I could hear them vacuuming. read more

Since interviewing with managerial staff and following move-in, my family and I have been regarded with nothing but courteous service, high professionalism, and genuine interest in ensuring that all of our needs have been met. Any communications and requests, including maintenance requests, have been handled in a timely manner, thoroughly, and with hospitality. The community itself is aesthetically pleasing, and I feel like I am at a resort when I make it to the pool! Given the fact that the community is safe for families and is local to all needs, I would recommend Hawthorne at the Meadows to a friend. read more

My husband and I have looked at apartments off and on for about 6 months. About 20! Hawthorne at the Meadows was in our top 2! The staff was very welcoming right when we walked in the door. Of course we were behind another couple before we could talk to staff but they sailed through that couple with their wants and go to us in a timely manner. They answered all of our questions, very friendly. We had a funky situation about the timing but Hawthorn worked around our situation and found the right apartment for us during the time frame we needed it. (i had to find close enough sitter for my little one)....When we go in to pay rent or hang out in the club house everyone so nice (staff and other tennnats..place is always clean to)....we are welcomed like we 1st were when checking the place out. I wanted to give them two stars, but the management prevented me from doing so. The girls in the office are literally flying by the seat of their pants. Never in my life have I experienced less experienced office management staff. The neighbor across in front of me let her little boy trash the staircase, the sidewalks, write graffiti in the parking lot, vandalize vehicles in the parking lot, kill birds by taking down their nests, and bang on my front door then run away, and the management staff DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!!!! This same kid filled the pool with paper towels, pulled the knobs off of the gas grills at the pool, and terrorized children and adults in the complex. I complained to them and even sent an email to the regional manager, who never responded to my complaint. The process for getting maintenance requests taken care of is so up in the air, I never knew if I were going to get a person so I would just call the office and they would always give me an excuse for why whatever had not been done. On top of all of that, the price of rent is CRAZY! I paid $1200 for a three bedroom and when I moved out the rent went up to $1345. The complex itself is beautiful, the amenities on the outside are nice, but the apartments themselves are crap and so is the management staff. They have black appliances but they are the cheapest appliances that they could find. My stove had burners that leaned to one side. My refrigerator was garbage. The toilet in the hallway bathroom stayed stopped up. They leave the dumpster running over all weekend. They do not enforce their pooper scooper rules, so there is dog crap all over the grass. The grass has big brown spots where people let their mutts go on the lawn. I have had a couple of friends go to this area so they can attend the tech start up but I steered them way clear of Hawthorne apartments. They also cheated me out of my deposit when I left. It would be much better to rent a house in that area versus an apartment because you will get more for your money. read more

I have been a tenant here for two years and I absolutely love it. The apartments, as well as the grounds are above expectations. The maintenance team is very prompt and courteous when something needs to be fixed in the apartments. The neighbors are very friendly. I also feel very safe because we have a lot police that live here. I couldn't find the space that I wanted in other complexes, but when I came here, I found everything that I was looking for. It feels more like a home than an apartment. the noise level is very very low, especially for an apartment. The management team in the office are also very courteous and the level of professionalism is refreshing. I travel a lot for work, but there is no place like home. I'm happy to say that my home is, Hawthorne at the Meadows. read more
