Similar to a few other reviewers, we stumbled upon Hawthorne's Best Inn as an unexpected rest stop on our long drive. After reading a few reviews of the town's options, we decided to drive up and make a reservation at Hawthorne's Best Inn, and oh boy - we are so glad we did! Hawthorne's Best Inn was a no-thrills, you get what you pay for type of place. Yes, it is a bit dated, but for the convenience, price and location, we really couldn't have asked for more. The gentleman at the front desk was the real star of our experience. He was so kind, patient, courtesy and helpful. We checked in pretty late and he still went out of his way to make sure everything was squared away. We only stayed a night, but we're definitely going to remember Hawthorne's Best Inn for a very long time. When we got up to leave early the next day, the place was so quiet, relaxing and peaceful. Our stay here was on October 25th and 26th. I have to say, this place is so clean! The room was spacious, quiet and clean (down to the corners and baseboards). It has a real coffee maker with glass carafe, which was nice. There is a swing out mirror in the sink area that has a magnifier on one side. I really appreciated that. I'm short, so it made putting on my makeup so much easier than trying to lean over the counter to look in a wall mirror. The room also has a small microwave oven and a mini fridge that we made use of. It was very convenient that they have two coin operated washers and dryers. We did a load of laundry during our stay. The dryer runs for 45 minutes and has good heat. I could watch TV while our clothes were washing. It was so much nicer than going to a laundromat. The grounds and walkways did not have one bit of litter. Everything is well lit including the perimeter of the building. I felt very safe while walking my dog for her potty break. There is a nice patio with several tables and chairs. There is a propane stainless steel barbecue that one can use. It was a little bit too chilly for me, but on a warmer day, I imagine it would be very pleasant to sit and enjoy the sun out there. Jack, the proprietor, is very friendly, helpful and personable. We highly recommend this motel. If we are ever in Hawthorne in the future, we will definitely be staying here again! read more

Our family and I totally got screwed over at Travel lodge with a room we paid for weeks ago and even called them yesterday to make sure everything was good with putting a crib in there for our 8 month old .. long story short they said no rooms.. left our family with nowhere to go at 830 pm after a 9 hour drive. The owner at Hawthornes Best is SO kind and considerate and is just all around a very nice man. We basically got the last room and he took care of our family. Rooms are really nice, comfortable beds, our kids love it, nice bathrooms, and again I cannot stress enough how nice the man at the front is. COME HERE. Pricier but heck, it's worth it. I love this hotel. Jack and Sudha are the proprietors this property and I must say they're quite friendly and are very proud of their hotel. Solid Americans, working hard for the American dream. You can see it in the pride of ownership in the cleanliness within the facilities itself. Big high five and 10 stars for this group! also, I noted that their employees love working there. A employee of the property had walked in the office when I was checking in. Jack and Sudha Address the employee with a handful of money and mentioned to buy the entire staff lunch today!!!. I get that kind of loyalty and I appreciate these people very much. This is my go-to place when transiting to and from northern Nevada. The owners and staff are caring, charming, and friendly. In two trips through recently driving moving trucks and hauling motorcycles vulnerable to theft, they helped us park in front of the office for security's sake. Don't let the dated decor fool you. It's well-kept; not worn even if not the most modern. The owners clearly invest in maintenance and updates on things like bathrooms and fresh paint. And the solar panel setup on the roof is impressive! No, not every detail is perfect but they clearly fix things up as needed. They care about their customers and take pride in their property. Nice, family -run motel. Everything about this motel is well kept and very CLEAN! The only thing I might lower the rating to 4 1/2 stars is the beds are not fluffy pillow tops as we all seem to enjoy in today's world. However they don't sag or creak or anything bad, and they also are very clean. Don't hesitate to spend the night here! Not sure of the normal rates as we were there on a holiday weekend, but I'm sure they are very competitive. read more

The owner of this establishment is an incredibly helpful and thoughtful man. I was traveling alone driving a large U-Haul truck. Around 2 am I decided to stop and rest. This was the only place in the vicinity that wasn't closed for the night but also greeted with a smile and graciously helped me park the U-Haul truck in a safe area. In addition, once the owner registered me and gave the keys to my room he walked me to my room to make sure I made it there safely. Sitting here posting this from the room. Looks like many people have had some bad experiences here over the years. My experiences are much different. Every time I have interacted with the front desk, they have been pleasant and helpful. And sometimes like when I checked in this last time, they taunt me with amazing smelling Indian food coming from the attached apartment for the manager. Sucks that Hawthorne doesn't have that. Anyway, I've stayed here numerous times over the last few years and each time the rooms have been just fine. I do pay extra for the larger rooms because I am worth it! They are a more green hotel because they have like a jillion gigawats of solar power on the roof! The rooms have always been cleaned well and the beds are made up really tight. The softness of the beds suit me just fine. So if you are gonna stay here, understand this is a small town with character and characters. And don't let your prejudices get you down. They don't have "cards" for their door keys. It's a special electronic lock, so if you tend to lose your room key, you might want to be extra vigilant with this one. read more

5 stars goes to the Motel in the middle of Hawthorne, a town that seems to be a mid-way stopping point for road tripping families and truckers. We stayed at the Travelodge on our way north and on our way south there were no rooms available at the TL. We were left with few, non-name brand options. Hawthorne's Best Inn was our selection. I wish we had stayed here the first time! We were met with extraordinary service by the front desk staff, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and the room was as dark as night- providing us with the best nights sleep! I know it's always a big question mark when choosing non-named brand motels in the middle of no where, but I promise you will not be disappointed. read more

I travel a lot for work, I stay mostly at Holiday Inn Expresses. When we booked here I didn't know if it was going to be up to par to what I'm accustomed to...boy was I pleasantly surprised! I stayed here for 7 nights, the room was cozy, the bed was not too soft or too hard. It had very modern appliances, i.e. a large refrigerator, cooking top, huge counter top, and a microwave. For internet they had WiFi AND an Ethernet cable connection. It was quiet and peaceful, great sound proofing! I felt very safe and secure while staying there! I think the best part though was the hospitality of Jack and his wife who own and run the hotel. It was a pleasure to talk to Jack, he's knowledgeable, funny, kind, caring, very down to earth, and helpful. I would recommend this hotel above all others in this town!! This truly is the "best" place we have stayed in Hawthorne! Other places lacked cleanliness, but our stay here was pristine. The paint looked new (& colorful!). Conveniently located, this hotel also had convenient amenities, such as fridge, microwave, hair dryer, etc. Most impressive were the SOLAR panels! Perfect little motel while you're traveling. Not sure if I had no neighbors or all the walls are thick but it was dead silent while I slept which was awesome. Bed is pretty comfy but the pillows... I think they're just normal hotel pillows but to me they're the best pillows I've ever slept on. The front desk person was super nice and made me feel welcome even checking in at 11 PM. Oh, and the water for the shadow was super hot which never happens in motels! read more

I travel through Hawthorne and need lodging every week that is paid for by the company. Told the manager my company had some concerns about how much the rate was. I talked with the manager and he told me if I did not like the price to get the f*** out of his hotel. I could not believe this. Told him that I did not appreciate his attitude and that a guaranteed stay in the middle of the week 4 times a month would be good business. You could not ask more from a roadside motel in the middle of the Nevada desert. The host was very gracious, polite and informative on the area. The bed was firm to sleep in but not hard. There was a dorm sized fridge/freezer in the room that kept our traveling, healthy snacks cool. We were in a pet free/smoke free room but there are pet rooms available. We read the reviews before we stayed here last night and we're impressed by what people said. They were right. The gentleman at the desk was so nice and helpful. We were towing a Polaris on a flatbed trailer, and he gave us a great parking spot across from the office that was quite secure. Everything was spotless in the room and we enjoyed our stay. The slogan for America's Best Inn and Suites hotel chain is 'Expect more. Get more.' Well, we weren't expecting much of this hotel in Hawthorne NV and we got less than we expected. Not a good introduction for us to the America's Best chain (first time and probably the last time we'll select one of these properties.) Based on marketing materials for the Hawthorne property, we were expecting a newer (but not new) and nicely maintained low mid range motel. What we found was an aging property that looked like it needed a fair amount of TLC. While the rooms were clean for what the daily cleaning staff could do, things like very dirty carpets and beat up bathroom countertops and so on were definitly not what we expected. We got a very good discounted rate based on early reservations and vacancy but not even a low nightly rate could entice us back if we ever have the need to stay in Hawthorne again. Hawthorne is typically a "passing through" stop for folks (our first time staying in the town) and there aren't a lot of options but there are some. Based on our experience at the America's Best, it may not be the worst of lodging options in Hawthorne (for what we could see) but it would be a sorry state of affairs if it is the best. Our recommendation would be to look elsewhere. read more

Tired after a very long drive--from Boulder City--we pulled in to the first motel we saw which was Hawthorne's Best Inn. The owner himself was on duty that evening. He was so welcoming and got us set up with a room post haste. He was kind enough to discount it a bit also as we are seniors. We were more than pleasantly surprised when we entered the room. It was spacious, well lit, nicely furnished, and immaculate! The paint was unmarred--no chips or marks on door casings. Everything was detailed perfectly. The bed was clean and fresh and comfortable! We don't often travel that direction, but if and when we do again, we will absolutely stay at Hawthorne's Best Inn. We've already mentioned it to a number of our friends. read more

This is a great place to spend the night, especially after a long drive . The owners and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms are large, spacious and very clean . Throughout our stay the owners made sure we never needed anything . A big bonus to some of our family is the sink was on the outside of the bathroom making it easy for two people to use them at the same time . We need to use a wheel chair for my mother in law so they made sure we had rooms that accommodated this and that we also had parking that was assessable as well. Anytime we travel across this area, we will definitely stay and feel welcomed . This place earns 5 stars according to my family and the experience we got while we were there ! read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!! The owner is a liar an this place is a total rip off. There are only 2 motels in Hawthorne, the other is the El Capitan. You will be much better off staying at the El Cap even though it is like a million years old. I knew I would need a room here and booked like 6 months in advance. When it was closer to my check in date, I noticed that the room rate had gone down. I called the manager (Owner Jack Desai) and he sad that I shouldn't worry about the price being lower because they were putting me in the best and newest room that they had. What a flat out lie! They were also advertising on their website that they had a pool ( I have printed proof of this- They have now removed it off of their site). They do have a pool with no water in it. I happened to be in Hawthorne during a heat wave and asked the rude lady at the front desk what happened to the pool? She informed me that they could not afford to keep up with the new regulations, so they drained it and closed it. If I would have known they did not have a pool I would have stayed at the El Capitan Which is where I ended up spending all of my time anyway. Thank god they have a pool. My room was not any different than any other room in that hotel. It was old and smelled musty. Not worth the $ 90.00 plus an additional $ 10.00 per night for my dog. So $100.00per night for a room that is worth about $39.99. The franchise owners should be shut down. This is not a way to run a business, by ripping people off. They also say that they offer a continental breakfast and coffee in the front. This is also another lie. They offer the same coffee you can make in your room and a small plate of old pastry. If it is not eaten that day they will serve it the next. That is not a continental breakfast. Not worth leaving your room for. I asked for a discount when I checked out due to the lies and false advertisement. The rude lady basically told me to get lost. They would not let me out of my reservation when I checked in so I was forced to stay here or lose out on my money. read more
