These are some of the finest pieces of porcelain in the world. I looked at it as if it were a museum of exquisite plates, cups, glasses, platters, service ware, and bowls. There are walls of examples, as well as explanations of how its made. I'm sure I spent between 30 to 60 minutes in this store. Is everything the very best quality? Yes. Are they beautiful? Yes. Is this worth seeing? Yes, especially if you happen to pass it. Did I intend to buy anything? Absolutely not. None of these items are in my price range. If you added up all of my serving ware, plates, cups, etc. I'm sure the total value of my entire kitchen is less than the cost of a plate here. But that doesn't mean it's not fun to look. Don't worry, no one is going to make you feel uncomfortable because you are clearly a gawker, not a buyer. Surprisingly, there ARE many actual buyers in the store. If you enjoy this experience, stop into the Georg Jensen Silver silver store that is literally next to Royal Copenhagen for another experience.

I was happy to see that the prices here are actually quite reasonable. They have a great selection of kitchen, house, living, gardening and office items. I've bought some pots for plants (19kr each), Weck jars (20-29kr each - same price or lower than some grocery stores), and a few small kitchen items. There is a nice mixed of Danish brands and other brands. The store staff is nice and wrap up your breakable products in cardboard paper when you make a purchase. I've had to do a return at one point and they were equally pleasant.

While walking down this main street in Copenhagen, I saw the Georg Jensen. Georg Jensen is an…read moreiconic Danish brand and represents the very best of silver making. Jensen started the company in 1904. I enjoyed walking around the store and seeing this many examples of Jensen silver in one place. Like my visit to the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain store (literally right next to the Georg Jensen store), I treated this like a free museum experience. The staff was very polite and nice and we never felt uncomfortable that it was obvious that we weren't to actually buy anything. Although all of this is beautiful, and well worth seeing, it's very high-end, i.e., super-expensive. But as a tourist, I enjoyed it tremendously. I find that going into stores like Tiffany's, Georg Jensen, etc. gives you a chance to appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship without any obligation to buy. I wouldn't got out of my way to visit this store (unless you are a huge fan of silver), but it is well worth the time to visit if you are in the neighborhood.

They still do new designs, and they do keep the same spirit and quality as the old ones. The silver works are expensive, but quality costs. You can get more affordable designs in stainless steel. The service in the store is really good. You get great advice, the staff is attentive, and they always wrap gifts in the most beautiful way. It's such a privilege to go here.

This store pretty much carries all the top name brands of clothing and home furnishings including the Japanese brand, MUJI (first time seeing MUJI items in person). On the top floor of ILLUM is a coffee shop named Original Coffee which overlooks the square/courtyard of the Strøget Shopping District. Atmosphere: Everyone's going to have an opinion on this. I would say, this department store is between Macy's and Sak's in feel (Use NYC as reference). If you're from Asia, it's a bit like a Sogo, with "cooler brands", but not uber-trend. Curated, slightly higher price point than Magazin, which I think of as a Macy's, but a lot of overlap. While both have a coffee shop, somehow I like the format of how they worked it in better here. Check out: Bags: There are two bag stores on the ground floor that are worth checking out. Veloris is a Denmark brand. Very masculine very leather. Not my deal, but I could see someone really wanting this particular look. There is another little separate purse brand. Quite structured. Worth a look. Lingerie: Better selection, particularly of Simone and Perele. I can't say it's larger. It's simply better curated. Other floors: A lot of British brands. I quite like. They had a few nice Dune pieces, which I had not seen at the other stores. Swimwear: This is where the store got me. They have two brands I hadn't seen at other spots. Relative to American stores that are all skimp and no help, the design here is more practical, even in the two pieces. Staff: I found everyone very professional and friendly. They stayed close to the dressing room area and were available for changes in sizing. This speaks to the organization of the store, i.e. the right number of people for each little alcove.
