An excellent spread with helpful staff. and in the overflow, so plenty of elbow room - though we did need to keep our coats on - no problem. We have had lunches there before, & been well served. The Winter Garden is a Jewel for the city with a lovely display all year round. At Hogmanay, we met a French journalist, doing tourist info, who specially liked it. The kids (2& 5) liked the whole experience and especially the talking cactus, and stamping the special medal for £1.01ea. The whole afternoon - good value. We left a generous donation as we had spent a lovely afternoon and have some cakes home with us for tomorrow. PS The cream for the excellent scones was proper whipped cream!

Ahh, sunny days in Aberdeen at Duthie Park. One of the best…read morethings about living in Scotland was how much people appreciated the sun. It's out less, so when it is people go crazy. Shirts off (even though it's still pretty chilly), picnics, dog walks, everyone shows up in Duthie Park for an ice cream. Glorious. Some seriously fond memories of Sunday afternoons spent with friends in Duthie Park. There's a huge amount of nicely trimmed grass for sitting or kicking a football around or throwing a frisbee. There's great paved paths for walking your dog or letting your kid ride their bike. There's also multiple play areas for children and some of them are really awesome. Notably the playground with a zip line (how fancy!--disclosure: I would wait around and try to get a go when kids weren't on it) and a roundabout (you never see those in playgrounds anymore!) and some pretty tall slides. There is a greenhouse garden full of exotic plants and loads of cacti that you can check out for free, which is a fun activity on a colder day. And there is an ice cream shop in that same area, which is of course great for those cherished warm, sunny summer days in Scotland. Overall Duthie Park is a very well-rounded area, with plenty of green space and a great place to spend some time with the whole family. I love going back when I'm back visiting Aberdeen.

This would be a gorgeous spot to spend a little time enjoying a bit of rare sunshine with a picnic and a special loved one or to just sit on a bench with a book and a cup of tea. Lots of benches so it's easy to find your own little semiprivate nook to watch the world go by and the ducks float past.

Codonas amusement park is not the greatest place in the world for what we need. there is not much…read morefor toddlers and little children to do, it mostly caters for older kids, but there is a small carousel which let little ones on for free. the ride choice is ok and will fill your time given that there isnt another amusement park around. the 18 hole golf is in my opinion very expensive, it is entertaining but they do not allow chidren on the course that arent playing, we decided to pay for our 2 year old to play but he got fed up after a bit. Its a fantastic course which is in good condition, we used the outdoor course but there is also an indoor course perfect for wet days. there is an amusement arcade which has upto date games and machines. there is also numerous places to eat inside aswell as a soft play area and a bowling alley. there is plenty of places to spend money and will undoubtly get busy in the summer so little ones would easily get lost if you not carefull

This review relates to the walks from the Back o' Bennachie side. The Benachie Centre walks and car…read morepark are on the eastern aspect of the hills. At a little over 500 metres at its highest peak, Bennachie is an accessible hill walking site, barely 30 miles by road from Aberdeen. The Forestry Commission website linked below gives all the details, so I will concentrate on my experiences. The climb to Oxen Craig, the tallest of the peaks, from the Back o' Bennachie car park (easiest to find when approaching from Aberdeen) is steep if you are not experienced. It may be better to warm-up on one of the shorter, flatter walks if the weather is cool. There are short forest walks of as little as 1 1/2 miles. The main walk uphill is steep through the trees, but very well maintained. It gets very busy over summer, especially at weekends! Once you are above the tree line, the exposed side and top of the peaks can get windy, so be prepared. The views on a clear day are breathtaking - as this is in the North East of Scotland, the surrounding mountain ranges protect the area from most of the clouds and rain that affects western Scotland. One criticism of the otherwise great job done by the Forestry people - the various walks are colour-coded, but the key is only at the bottom. Half-way up through the trees, there is a point where a few trails meet: if you've forgotten which colour represented which trail, there's no way of checking. Overall, the Back o' Bennachie approach is thoroughly enjoyable!

Getting right to the top is worth the effort as the views are stunning. I would recommend taking a flask as a well earned cuppa is a great idea. Having been there before it moved sites a few years ago was quite surprised to see a lot of the things are still the same as they were 10 odd years ago. It is fun but not good if you want to chill while the kids play. There is a small cafe attached which is ok, serves decent coffee. They do lots of different demonstrations and shows through out the day aimed at different age groups. There is also a small gift shop. Worth a visit.

Firstly, i couldn't get my buggy in as it was upstairs so i had to fold it up and take my daughter up and all the bags with nappies etc. Not the greatest start. I assumed there would be more room upstairs than what there actually was, they could really do with having bigger premises that are more accessible. On the plus side though, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and obviously enjoy what they do. They did their jobs very efficiently. My daughter was in the toddler section of the room rather than the main part but i was very impressed that it was seperate. End of the day, my daughter had great fun so i have to give this a big thumbs up.

The party room is nice and seperate but still quite small. The play equpitment was really good with a great toddler section completely sperate to the big childrens play zone. the staff were attentive and friendly and hosted the party really well. would like to see it a little less busy. my little one enjoyed himself and the food was nice and they were offered a good choice.

It opens all year round but times do vary.
