I am eternally grateful for being referred to Dr. Goldman by my previous dentist. I was in pain and was experiencing other symptoms that turned out to be related to TMJ disorder. For a month straight, I was experiencing a sort of pain in my head so sharp and intense that I was completely debilitated and miserable. I saw my Doctor, who sent me to a neurologist who sent me to Dr. Goldman. Long story short, through a series of treatments and following all of his recommendations I am now living pain free. I experienced some relief after the first treatment and the pain continued to lessen with subsequent treatments. I also had the opportunity to meet many other patients who were experiencing similar positive results with Dr. Goldman. Only someone who has experienced all encompassing head pain can know the way it totally takes you out of life. I am not religious but do feel like Dr. Goldman is my savior. I will be forever grateful for his incredible knowledge, skill, kindness and care. He gave me my life back! I have read the negative reviews and want to share that Dr. Goldman is VERY specific with many instructions. He is clear to convey that treatment does not just happen during the visits with him. All of the do's and dont's around wearing the appliance, eating, gum chewing and even sleeping that he expresses equated to a lot of changing of my habits.... not always easy and a bit invasive, but worth it. My pain was great. I Took his recommendations and believe that was an essential part of my success with him. The two negative reviews that I read sounded like they were written by people who were a bit emotionally unbalanced. I assure you he is not a quack to me, my neurologist or the other patients who I met in his waiting room. I wont begin to guess what is going on in the lives of the negative reviewers. DO NOT go to Dr. Goldman! I was treated by Goldman for 8 months. He made an appliance that completely changed my bite. I had an overbite, but it was never open. At the end of my treatment, my bite had opened so much that my front teeth didn't come together. To counteract this movement, Goldman grinded down my back teeth. He helped my symotoms during treatment because of the electrode stimulation, but he was not cogniscent of the damage he was doing to my bite. I spent $12,000 on a treatment that didn't work becasue 4 months after ending his treatment, my symtoms were back. I am still paying off medical bills from his treatment and will likely have to see an orthodontist to have my teeth brought back together. Stay away from this office and seek treatment elsewhere! read more

I went to see Dr. G a number of years ago. Very personable and seemed quite experienced and knowledgeable. At the time of my visit, I simply wanted to find out if I had TMJ and if I needed to be proactive in it's treatment. Dr. G suggested that I had significant pain, which I did not, and suggested a treatment which I thought would be more painful than my present situation. Despite Dr Goldman's endless stream of puns, he truly cares. He was actually the first doctor I found after almost 5 years of searching that both cared and had a solution for headaches that had left me a shadow of my former self. Was it expensive? Sure. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Five years later, I live a normal life with minimal pain and Dr Goldman is easily available for when I need an adjustment once or twice a year. His system of an orthotic, dry needling, and electro stim was a life saver. My dentist was also impressed with the device and referred one or two folks to Dr Goldman. His orthotic has held up for over five years and I can wear it during the day or at night whenever my jaw gets flared up. Are you noticing a pattern? Defensive remarks attacking the reviewer (insecure, anyone?). Completely unprofessional. Calling somebody's potentially valid complaint (I won't wade too far here) "ludicrous" doesn't make it so. Furthermore, citing the anonymity of the internet as being the impetus for somebody wanting to attack some random guy's treatment plan is, in fact, ludicrous. Paranoid? The anonymity levels the playing field when you are a desperate patient who has lost their life to pain, and somebody is right there with a phony smile and a plan (and a bill). If you say you're not feeling better, you get a personal attack, you say you might be feeling a little better, he'll pat himself of the back saying he's cured you. As long as you nod your head and tell him how wonderful he is, you're good. The minute you call him out on a failed promise, oh boy, do the gloves come off. First come the incredibly obnoxious sarcastic remarks, then he'll call you a liar right to your face. Insurance covers nothing, and he charges and arm and a leg--significantly more than any other "specialist". I depleted all my savings and spent nearly a year of my life going once a week for a treatment that did nothing. He says he'll equilibrate your teeth to mimic the appliance so you will be as comfortable out of the appliance when it is all over. Yeah, right. You'll be in that appliance for the rest of your life. And charging over $100 for a TENS unit on the neck once a week? Give me a break. Quackery. And the money back guarantee? Laughable. You are asked to assess your 9 month treatment's success in one month? Please don't insult any more reviewers or patients with statements about your "guarantee". If you really want to know if your treatment is helpful, ask the patients at the END of the treatment. Otherwise it is just a gimmick. (Hint: it doesn't work.) read more

I have had chronic daily headaches/migraines for just over 10 years now. During this time I have been seen and treated by numerous physicians, neurologists, chiropractors, and dentists. I have tried several different types of therapies: physical, massage, craniosacral, acupuncture, and acupressure. I have also taken countless medications (the side effects of a few even landed me in the emergency room on a few occasions). It took roughly 6 months to cure my TMJ clicks, pops and pains. I am glad I stuck with it. At first progress was slow, but after 2 months wearing the prescribed appliance, I started feeling much better. Today, I no longer wear the appliance and my jaw pain is gone. After a bad mouth guard popped my jaw out of joint, I spent 5 years in constant pain and discomfort. I could not open my mouth all the way or chew food without clicking, popping, and severe pain in my jaw. Believing that the only solution was surgery, I did my best to just ignore the problems rather than undergo an extensive procedure. My first treatment with Dr. Goldman was on September 1, 2015, and by December 3 I was completely free of pain and discomfort. I had actually forgotten what it felt like to have a normal jaw. It goes without saying that had I realized treatment would be as simple as weekly office visits for 3 months, I would have done this years ago. Aside from Dr. Goldman's obvious expertise, the office is very pleasant and accommodating, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. This dentist claims that he can really help your TMJ. Don't fall for his book, or his claims. After over a year of weekly appointments, and him grinding my teeth down I began questioning his method. Suddenly he wanted to tape me for a submission to the Oprah show. I was sitting in the patient chair with no way out, so with a video camera in my face I said the treatments were working. I believe he did this to keep me from suing him. When I went back to my regular dentist, they were stunned by the damage that he had done to my teeth and called him on it! He held no responsibility! As you can see, I don't write many reviews, but Dr. Goldman is amazing. For 6 months I had horrible pain that I thought was radiating from my glands. I went to several doctors/specialists and no one could figure out what the problem was. As all this was going on, I was doing my own research and found the Head and Neck Center website. After all my other doctor visits I was skeptical. However, I went in for my first appointment and they evaluated me and did x-rays. It turned out all the pain I was suffering from was TMJ. No ONE could tell me this and I had been to multiple doctors and spent a lot of money. I was relieved. Dr. Goldman molded my mouth for a retainer and I went in for short weekly treatments and adjustments. Within weeks, I noticed the radiating pain was much less. Within several months, it was gone. I researched other treatments for TMJ and know they tend not to work. This treatment is very different and I told Dr. Goldman he really needs to share his technique with other doctos so people in pain could get the same relief as I did. Too, going in each week was a pleasure as his entire staff is so friendly and accommodating as is Dr. Goldman. I highly recommend Dr. Goldman if you suffer from TMJ. I generally do not take time to leave reviews, yet felt compelled to share as Dr. Goldman brought me back from the dead at 2 different times in my life. While it was a serious $ consideration for me, the pain that I was living with had me feel that suicide was an option. I decided to trust the possibility that I could get at least some relief though his treatment. He diagnosed me with TMJ. He also said, that the TMJ may be triggering migraine cluster headaches. He said he would focus on the TMJ and perhaps the migraines would clear up too. After the first treatment, I felt some relief and like I could breath a bit deeper again. This trend continued for a few weeks. After around 6 weeks I felt like a normal person again. Dr. Goldman was impressed with how quickly my headaches responded to his treatment. I chose to end treatment ahead of schedule as I felt great and wanted to live my life again!! Dr. Goldman was clear to tell me that treatment was not finished and the pain would most likely come back.. I felt he was a bit arrogant about it too... 3 years later the pain did come back with the same intensity that brought me to his office initially. I then understood his arrogance as insight and actual care for my well being. We began again... from the beginning.. just like he said we would have to.. I was humbled.....He made a new splint for me and we began the treatment again. It did not take me long for my head to respond to the same treatment.. This time I chose to finish it! I have been pain free for close to 7 years now... This man is a true healer.. he knows what he is doing, understand what it takes to truly heal someone, does not take shortcuts.. (like a lot of Dr.s).... and does not say things just to make people happy... He seems to be super honest in his evaluations of whether or not he can help.. I am happy to live a (basically) headache free life.. I was surprised to see the negative reviews.. But then again, I do remember feeling hopeless, angry and pretty crazy much of the time when I was suffering. I wanted to blame someone and vent my incredible anger everywhere. I'm not a review writer but had to share my experience with others. Before I found Dr. Goldman, I was dealing with terrible headaches which lasted for days & caused me so much pain, not to mention nausea. I went to my doctor to get checked out & he could find nothing wrong. So I continued to deal with the pain. As time went on, I paid attention to the source of the pain & triggers. I noticed it was focused in what felt like my teeth! I wisdom teeth were out so it wasn't that. I went to my dentist who did a quick TMJ evaluation. Sure enough, he said I was having TMJ issues but offered no help. After doing my research on TMJ, it all made sense & clicked! That's when I found Dr. Goldman. When I went to see Dr. Goldman for my initial visit, I felt there was light at the end of the tunnel. I started feeling results about a month after treatment & things continued getting better! I was impressed & so grateful! I could FINALLY function & have a normal life. Even my dentist (who was very skeptical) was greatly impressed with my bite. I'm not sure what some of the other reviews are talking about. If you do your research (as you should before committing to any kind of treatments with any doctor) & understand even the basics of the muscular-skeletal system, you'll see this a very conservative approach to TMJ treatment, makes total sense & is one of the best options available. I called to see if the doctor could adjust a TMJ split that I already have. I was informed--not very nicely--that "he treats pain holistically so he can't perform an adjustment." I was offered a consultation instead, presumably so we can start over on all the years of treatment I've already had. I don't see how "holistic pain management" and "working with a preexisting appliance" are mutually exclusive, but apparently they are! I went to see Dr. Goldman starting in 2012 for my TMJ. My dentist suggested I see him. He and his staff have always been nice, courteous, and welcoming. Diana, and Griselle are the best. Anyway, my TMJ was so bad, I had no idea that much of the shoulder pain I was having was actually from my jaw. Dr. Goldman explained what was happening inside my mouth & the connection to the pain in my shoulder, neck, and headaches I thought were sinus issues, but instead that were from my jaw clinching. He fitted my for an orthotic mouth guard, and said if I didn't feel relief soon, we would try other methods. He let me know it's a process that can take up to a year to correct. The process included weekly visits to adjust the guard forcing my teeth, and muscles in the right direction, injections into my jaw muscles to force relaxation, and electrod stimulating muscle relaxing. I had relief immediately. I won't say I was cured, but I started being able to sleep at night better than I had in years. My TMJ was from a car accident from 1995. So after many years of pain and non-treatment to mistreatment I felt relief. This is a pricey process, so it took me longer than the straight year as I did not go weekly like I should have attempting to save some money. Some insurances cover TMJ, mine only covered some of the costs. It was well worth the investment. I stopped wearing my mouth guard 18 months later and completed the process approximately a year ago. From start till now I am 98% better than when I first walked into his office. The other 2% has to do with the rest of the injury sustained in the car accident. If you are suffering from TMJ, I highly recommend Head and Neck Pain Center for relief. The benefits definitely outweigh the overall cost, and you're healthy mouth is worth the investment. Everything feels worse than it did when I started treatment. He charges a lot of money and his treatment isn't covered by insurance either. He gives false timelines and/or incredibly vague timelines for treatment. I sought treatment for a while until I realized this was not working and in fact was doing damage to my jaw, not to mention migraine pain. I was incredibly naive and hopeful about the treatment when I began because I've tried just about everything else and my jaw problems persist. But just because all those other things didn't work doesn't mean this will. Save your money and time because it will be completely wasted on this treatment. I went to Goldman back in 2000. I wish I knew about making Yelp reviews back then. My experience was not a good one. He took x-rays and told me that if I didn't do what he recommended I would need surgery. I wore his appliance and went in for weekly appointments - religiously. I was doing fine with the appliance, but once he started grinding down my teeth, especially my back teeth and pushing my jaw back that's when I began to have severe symptoms. I am not sure if the empty injections he gave in my mouth caused any problems; however, I started experiencing nausea, very bad headaches, dizziness, and I was having problems moving my jaw. I called him in tears telling him what was happening. Shortly after that, I received a letter from him stating I should remove his appliance and look in the Yellow Pages to find another dentist. I have spent thousands of dollars to correct the damage he has caused and lost two teeth from not finishing root canals. I made a complaint with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations and Licensing. At the time I made a complaint, I saw there was a previous complaint made against him. If anyone decides to go to him in spite of the warnings from bad reviews and is hurt, please call the Ill. Dept. of Professional Regulations and Licensing. read more

I underwent once a week treatments ($300/visit) for 8.5 months that did nothing in the end. Sure I felt great getting weekly dry needle therapy, TENS and electrical muscle stimulation on my shoulders. Who wouldn't! But I can't do that EVERY WEEK! No one can afford that. (Well, maybe Goldman.) In the end I spent a total $12,000. Ouch. Heartbreaking really. He says he'll equilibrate your teeth (oh, that was $3,200) to mimic the appliance so you will be as comfortable out of the appliance when it is all over. Yeah, right. You'll be in that appliance for the rest of your life. Quackery. DO NOT USE DR. GOLDMAN!!!!! DO NOT. There has to be another way. Call insurance! I should have done my research BEFORE agreeing to move forward. Once you move forward how can you give up on something you hope hope hope will be the solution to PAIN. He's totally taking advantage of people and he doesn't realize it. UGH. Again, you'll feel great going weekly. BCBS covered 90% of my treatment... which sounds ah-mazing but then you learn that's 90% of what BCBS is WILLING to cover. For me? $11/wk was reimbursed. Some insurance will cover acupuncture. Maybe chiropractic care. Or simple physical therapy, acupressure point therapy, etc. "Head and Neck Pain Center" is NOT the solution. (I was treated from March 2014 to Nov 2014). Just under a year later I'm in the exact same HORRIBLE pain. : ( Horrible.!!! I'm a reasonable woman - well educated, respected, well-balanced. Listen to me. I never thought I'd write this review. I laughed at all the horrible reviews actually... but I've had it with the idea that others are being scammed. Save your money!!! Money is such a hard thing to lose; I will never get that $12k back.
