I called and called only to reach Ashley the AI person who never transfers you to a human being or makes an appointment if you are in need of spine surgery you definitely want someone who's inept. These people are not you cannot get in for anything for surgery and appointment. Nothing I've been trying since February and that's not how you treat people that are in pain. I do not recommend MAPS

On a daily basis I moan, groan and gripe to do the easiest things from brushing my teeth to an average household tasks. Owning a small business my clients rely on me to be able to fulfill orders and keep content and merchandise fresh. Without adequate care my quality of life has been horrid. Remaining stoic in front of family friends and loved ones HAD BEEN a great task as I have tried to hide my pain until it became evident to everyone around me I couldn't even play a round of golf before retiring after a few holes. (and that's not bc I was in the sand and water all day either! L:) ) Experience: My experience with Midwest Pain has given me hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel again. With amazing attention to detail, a combined approach of Physical Therapy, On-Site Treatment, and Honest Approach from day 1 gives them a 10 Star review in my book. PA-C Angie Osmanski 10 Stars for your amazing attention to detail and treatment plan you prepared for me. Chewly at intake 10 stars you are amazing and are worth every penny. Dr. Pontinen 10 stars for your communication. A rare thing nowadays. A Diamond in the Rough, If you have concerns, they take them serious. They are also very adamant as they should be about about explaining and making sure patients understand the medication being prescribed what it does and how it works. They do not prescribe just to prescribe. This is a legit establishment and they have quite the Roster of Doctors on they're Team that all have unique areas of training in different areas of pain management So it's a safe bet that someone on they're Team can help find the best treatment plan for anyone in need of Pain Management. I Highly recommends MW pain and look forward to my ongoing road to recovery. Thank you MW PAIN for making tying a knot when I came to the end of my rope ! Thanks for helping me get my life back! 5 years after initial review update below Treatment has progressed. I have been able to play golf. Pain is managed to a maintainable level. Been more active and actually lost weight over this period. My Apple Watch shows significantly more active in exercise and being able to enjoy life. Breathe more fresh air touch, grass, and explore the globe. A total 180 from my way of life prior to MAPS. The process has also been expeditiously quicker. Employees are kind courteous and professional and mindful of patients time to be sure your inn and out in a timely fashion. GS

I saw the APAC doctor at the office on Broadway and Diversey, but feel my experience was awful…read moreenough to be worth repeating for all the locations. Went to see one of the doctors, referred by my orthopedic surgeon. The APAC doctor completely ignored my actual complaints, did a perfunctory exam, and told me I needed to go on an expensive name-brand medication for a condition that I've never been diagnosed with - and which requires a neurologist to diagnose. I refused, which clearly pissed the doctor off. He proceeded to diagnose me with a certain joint dysfunction that could only be addressed with a floroscopy-guided steroid injection. No other treatments possible, no other option, injection or nothing. I had the injection, despite my misgivings, because I really am in a great deal of pain. It hurt, but that's to be expected. I was hustled out the door afterwards with the briefest aftercare instructions possible, presumably because I was the last appointment before lunch. I assume the rush to get me out the door is the reason they didn't warn me that the steroid injection also contained a heavy-duty anesthetic that would make my leg, from the hip down, completely numb. My leg gave out as I left the building and I went face-down on the sidewalk. I had to be assisted into a cab, wobbled my way to my house, and had to literally CRAWL up the stairs. The next two days were spent on crutches. Once the anesthetic wore off, my pain returned. A visit to my orthopedic surgeon this morning confirmed my suspicion - there is nothing wrong with the joint in question. I received a painful, expensive procedure with significant risks and side effects to deliver a shot of steroids to a perfectly healthy joint. Avoid at all costs. Unless, of course, you have an extra $5,000 or so and you'd like to get a needle full of anesthetic and steroid shoved into a perfectly healthy joint. Update 11/12 - APAC has contacted me by phone and postal mail to alert me to the fact that the steroid that was used in the injection is from the batch tainted with fungal meningitis. Two patients from the Chicago-area APAC centers have developed the illness. It's been over fouth months since my injections, so I'm unlikely to be sick, but it's infuriating. Talk about adding insult to injury - or in this case, injury to insult. I've also been diagnosed with a congenital malformation of the femoral neck. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my SI joint.

When I arrived, I waited about 2 hours before learning my insurance was actually not taken. When I explained the emergency I was having, they agreed to see me. As somebody who works in the medical field, I was appalled by my meeting with Dr. Merchant and her apparent discomfort talking about my symptoms and my treatment options. She pushed me to use the pharmacy on site after I repeatedly stated this was much less convenient for me. The worst part of my experience with this place happened weeks later when I experienced LIFE THREATENING side effects from the medication she prescribed. Later, I learned a few simple questions and information I completed on my intake paperwork should have been signs that the medication she prescribed was not appropriate. Over the 3-4 hours I needed to spend at this awful place, it appeared every patient was having an atrocious experience. When I asked for referrals, Dr. Merchant also repeatedly tried send me to locations where I have previously worked and provided me with inaccurate information about these locations. I can whole heatedly say this was the worst experience with a medical professional I have ever had.

He spends all of his time on you, and it's a 1-1 personal treatment. At first I was concerned about the cost since it's not covered by insurance, but you do get what you pay for. He is extremely thorough, as well as a down-to-earth guy. Unlike other PT places where you keep coming back week after week and someone watches you do exercises, he gives you a comprehensive plan that you can implement as soon as you leave. You can come back for a follow-up session at a discount, but in my case, since mine wasn't a full blown injury, it won't be necessary for a long time. He'll guide you through the exercises and show the proper form for them, along with explanations for what those exercises train for. In the long run, it's a higher cost up front, but I think I'm saving *more* money (and time) than had I gone to a regular PT place week after week; plus, they wouldn't know what to do with my fingers. He's a climber so he understands what pains and aches you have! The office I went to was inside the First Ascent Avondale gym - super convenient to us climbers!
