Today, after getting my shoulders worked via a chair massage - yes you can find her at Lamar Wholefoods on Thursday and Friday - I promised myself I will write one (even though I am still a bit spacing out while I am writing.) I recommend you go for her private sessions to get the experiences as Devi is more than your usual body/massage therapist - check out her long list of learnings. I have been going to her for past few years whenever I am in Austin; and recently, she has incorporated both craniosacral theraphy along with singing bowls (they sound so beautiful!) into our sessions. What I love about our sessions are that they are intergrated works that finds the balance between my emotional and physical levels; and not one session is the same. Devi has this innate sense of how I feel whenever I stepped into our sessions - she is personal but respect my space and boundary - and I find I don't need to tell her much. My simple understanding is that a reiki practitioner works with our own energy channels to break up blocks caused by stress, illness, etc. and ultimately restore balance. The result is a sense of peace and overall well-being. I've been seeing Heather for two and a half years now. Her reiki sessions include some time before the healing to talk about what's going on in your life, why you're there, and any intention you have for the session. I often go in to deal with a specific concern or problem I'm facing. Heather always helps me find new ways of thinking about things, as well as ideas for approaching "problems" (which may or may not really be problems). She also helps me understand any cosmic forces at play and their energetic effects. My favorite times though are when I go in thinking I don't really have a specific issue to focus on, only to discover through talking with Heather that a deeper or more hidden issue/feeling is available to work with.
