I am writing this review because I wish I had said something in the moment, but I was too stunned to. My first time at Healing Hands- I was visiting my mom for the holidays, and got us both deep tissue massages, and I added cupping to mine. My massage was good- I asked for a focus on my traps and shoulders, and I definitely feel like I have much more space in that area. My mom enjoyed her massage too. Though, my masseuse (I forget his name, a middle aged man with small gauged ears) made comments about my body both during and after the massage that were very inappropriate and made me uncomfortable- I want to make clear- they were not sexual at all. Though, he did casually rest his hand on my butt a few times in the beginning (not to hold my hips in place, it was while he was just warming the muscles up for the massage) which was weird, but whatever. I am very small- I am 35yo and am only 4'11" and weigh around 107lbs. According to medical news today, my weight should be between 94-119lbs for a "healthy" weight. So, super "average" for my size. During the massage while using the cups on my traps, he commented that I "don't have enough meat on my bones" to which I replied "Yes, I know I am small, so my shoulders are narrow". Didn't think much of it, thought it was about me just being a naturally small human. Massage continued, it was good. After the massage, I felt great! Then, when I walked out of the room, after telling him thank you, he got into talking about my body is more depth. He compared me to Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez (RIP queen) and how he met her in the 90's (weird brag) and that I'm skinny like her. That I need to get more meat on my bones, and that I need to eat more meat (I've been a vegetarian for 17 years) and that I'm just too skinny. General rule of thumb- don't comment on other people's bodies. You don't know what is going on with them. Luckily, I am happy with my body, but I am wanting to bring this to the attention of management so that it doesn't happen to someone else, who may, for example, be recovering from an eating disorder. which this type of comment could be extremely damaging. Literally, there was zero reason for him to say anything about my body beyond the comment about it being challenging to do cupping on my traps. I've gotten cupping before and that was never an issue - my weight has zero to do with getting a massage. Healing Hands, please train your employees better in how they communicate with their patients, especially as body workers in a space that needs to feel safe, I would hope the staff would know to do better. read more

I have been a client at HH for at least the past 10 years. I have mainly had male therapists for deep tissue massages. HH is professional, clean, and second to none. I like how each therapist demonstrates their own unique techniques, yet you still receive a deep tissue massage. Recently I tried the HaloR booth and it was much more relaxing than I ever expected. If you try it, buckle up and get ready to sweat and then sweat some more. When I was done I felt invigorated instead of depleted. We have tried countless other places and nothing tops Healing Hands. It is small and unassuming but they focus on what is important-the massage! Located in the lower level/basement of a retail store, the lack of windows and sound really contributes to the cozy, peaceful ambiance. Their great attention to detail really sets them apart from other spas. Each of the therapists we have had is amazing (which is nice because you don't have to worry about who you get when you make your appointment)! I had to keep leaving a message on the machine because no one would pickup. After a few days, I was finally able to get a hold of someone. Turns out, they're booked up for a full 1 1/2 months. Really nothing not to like, except their reservation process... the place is cozy downstairs and more open and larger upstairs, if you are over 6ft I'd suggest the upstairs. Technicians are great, staff is great, owner seems to really care about the business and customers, prices are appropriate and they have specials fairly often if you get on their mailing list. They just need to implement web based reservations, not sure why they don't add this service but you need to call for all reservations which is annoying at best but if after hours or line is busy also a time waster. read more

Massage: I had such a nice massage that I booked a second within 2 weeks. Had Catarina for this prenatal massage and she was great. There's a lot of attention to detail and making sure you're comfortable. All of the staff is authentically thoughtful though. Says a lot about the culture here. They seem genuinely happy and that clearly transfers to the service. Hydro Colonic therapy: I've also had this service here. It was my first time but Ryan was very informative and made me feel very comfortable about an -ahem- awkward procedure. But after a few minutes I was able to settle in and relax. I've been a customer of Healing Hands for the past 5+ years, and the reviews here accurately reflect the actual massage experience with the therapists. However, even though my husband and I have spent well over $7K in massage therapy in that time, every time we walk into the facility, I feel like I am a stranger. We are asked EVERY TIME by the front desk staff if it is the first time we have been there. Tonight we showed up for an appointment and they had booked it for the following weekend. We have VERY little free time so simply re-scheduling is not a option for us.
