I did research on the disorder before that appointment, and I knew that was not what I had since one has to have symptoms of depression for at least two years and I only had mine for a month and a half. When I asked her how to pronounce "dysthymia," she told me I did not need to know what I have. Second, she told me to "stop stewing around and focus on the positive" when I told her that I was still sad even after taking the medication for two weeks. Stop stewing around? Excuse me, but part of your job is to be SENSITIVE to people with mental health issues If you're going to treat people this way, then maybe being a psychiatric nurse practitioner isn't for you. Why are you telling me I have mental health issues, but yelling at me for exhibiting symptoms? I left my appointment in tears, which is not how one should feel when seeing a health care provider. My advice to both UP students and others is to stay away from her and find a provider who actually cares about you.

When the drug was doing its job, she constantly asked me about what I was eating, blaming me and making me feel guilty for losing the weight bc that's what it does. She never smiled, was overall intimidating and scary. She overcharges obviously, but coming from a family with means it wasn't a big deal until she started asking me about my income and when I confronted her she gave me some bullshit answer. So I wouldn't have to pay $800, yes $800 folks, I fired her explaining why in a brief text and her response was "okay." I know like can be tough and it's so hard finding care, but you will be more messed up after her.
