The estimate for the work was very reasonable. They arrived on the job wearing masks, got the work done and cleaned up. The Heartwood Tree Company first considered the health and beauty of the trees when they wrote up their plan and estimate. This was a tricky job because it involved my neighbor's hackberry and poplar trees. These trees extend deeply into the next door neighbors' properties. The written estimate was surprisingly low, and exactly the same as their work and my bill. When I look at the trees out my kitchen window, I am very pleased that I chose Heartwood Tree Company to help design the finished product. I contacted Brent from Heartwood Tree Company this past Friday because a tree in my back yard had fallen during a storm just two days earlier. Brent called me back within a couple of hours, and had a plan to come out and inspect the fallen tree over the weekend so that he could give me a quote on how much it'd cost to remove the tree. We made arrangements via email because I was out of town. He followed through and he even inspected my other trees and recommended that a tree overhanging my house be pruned back. He sent me the quote via email on Sunday, and said he and his team could do the work the following day. I was thrilled because I expected to be scheduled at least a week out. Today (Monday), Brent and his team arrived as planned and made short work of the tree cleanup. Brent even took the time to explain a few things to me about my other trees. When I mentioned to him that we'd like to do a few more things with the yard, he offered to recommend a couple of places he's done business with. When was the last time you hired some one to do a job and you were pleased with the entire process? This company does it right. Heartwood Tree removed a large (50') ash from a tight corner of dad's yard in Madison. Obviously this skilled crew knew what they were doing, almost like magic the huge tree has disappeared with hardly a trace! Surrounding trees, shrubs, plants and houses were undisturbed. Coordination with MG&E for power line connections was flawless. Clean up was tidy and complete. They did some high hedge trimming while they were there, the debris was removed and the flowers were unharmed. Brent communicated promptly, clearly and professionally. He listened to us, he answered questions, suggested different options and is such a pleasant person to work with, knowledgeable and respectful. My dad has been dealing with people for 94 years, his words; " I'm well pleased with the job. Very reasonably priced and prompt stump grinding. I was worried their stump grinder might crush my other plantings, but the operator deftly maneuvered the very narrow path I left for him between the thimble berries and the witch hazel. In and out in no time and zero collateral damage. The stump was so completely annihilated I was able to plant in the same spot immediately. read more

Really good to deal with. Came on time to bid on the job, listed out everything to be done, came back on the day chosen for the work, reviewed everything again to make sure they only cut what was to be removed, and got to work. Cleaned everything up before they left and did a great job. I will definitely hire them again if I need any tree work done. A great job, for a good price. Knowledgeable and reliable. We had our huge oak tree trimmed, and for a $1000 less than a competitor they did a much better job, going up into the tree and carefully removing just what was needed, without missing any dead parts. The company that previously trimmed the oak had missed some damage. We also received good advice on what to monitor to maintain the tree's health. We had two dying spruce trees (about 60 ft) in the backyard and contacted Brent about getting them cut down before they fell down. He came out asap to give us a quote, which we found to be a competitive price and he gave us an estimate of when he could do the work. He said he could come earlier on short notice if a rainy day comes up. As promised, a rainy day came and the trees were cut down and hauled away before we got home from work. No mess left behind... all sticks and debris were removed. I didn't have time to move anything out of the way, but apparently, that was all taken care of because everything was back in place. Care was clearly taken to limit damage to the lawn by the felled tree. Often times there are large gashes left by the process, but it looked like they laid out some branches to break the fall. Finally, he offered to come back at any time (free of charge) to deliver the wood chips from our tree for landscaping purposes. Throughout the process, he was very responsive. We interacted mostly over email, which I found to be convenient. read more
