Howard is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist with several years experience in Oncology Massage...it is downright amazing that I can talk to him about my chemo drugs and he knows of the side-effects and techniques to help me handle them. He knows the pathology of different cancers from a trained medical point of view, and he is a treasure chest of information on how to improve my lifestyle in general to help combat side-effects of treatments. Before I was diagnosed I was half-way through my Masters in Chinese Medicine. I was so pleased to discover that Howard uses acupressure points that correspond to the meridians that may need a boost - like for a weakened immune system, or a release - like for high toxicity in your liver. For all that I do to destroy cancer cells in my body, the one thing I must do on a weekly basis is give back to my body through massage. I felt she spent hardly any time with me, didn't read my pulses, put needles in, left then didn't come back for 20-25 mins when she had me turn over and put more needles in, then left again, with no questions of follow-up how I was doing, etc. She did do some short moxibustion treatment for 6 minutes at the end of the treatment. I think she can be a skilled acupuncturist, but for myself, I would prefer to have my practitioners be people who express more care and are more present with the treatment. If she was as consistent in her care for the other treatments as she was for the first one, I would leave a 5-star review. The last treatment was so deficient, that I left feeling pretty bad. I would rather spend my money on practitioners who sincerely work with more care about their patients.

I did receive an acupuncture treatment ( without even checking my pulse...which I found odd and a bit scarry,) accompanied by lots of time doing muscle testing and Bach flower remedies... which he insisted I take even though I had told him I don't believe in them. He gave me lots of shoulds as far as telling me 90 % of my supplements wont help me, but never explained to me the whys of anything, so I could not understand how to work with the info. Everything he said was supposed to be fallowed in blind faith which just I didn't feel intuitively called to fallow....especially after his belief in Bach Flowers (I belive in the memory of water, just not Bach's interpretations as it does not reflect the plants herbal elemental medicinal qualities, and if it does not ring true on one level it won't ring true on any). As the session wore on I got the distinct feeling I was bothering him and he was quick to ask me to leave. Almost to the point of rolling his eyes as I asked a last couple questions before my time was up. he may be wonderful for somone more new age seeking aura work ( he appeared to be doing lots of that, although I did not notice a difference.) but Ive lots of experience in traditional TCM, and was hoping for more acupuncture with explanation. So it was disappointing. I think for others he may be great. just not my style, I need more participation in my own healing path.
