I was just denied service by Carol Ladeluca-Myrianthis, PT, after having received several…read moretreatments from her under an authorized referral from my general practitioner at Kaiser Permanente, and their contracts team. The reason for the denial.of service? I disclosed for the THIRD TIME that I'm also receiving physical therapy treatment at the Kaiser Hilo clinic. I made Carol aware of this on my first and another subsequent visit. Carol could not provide a reason for denying my authorized and paid-for service other than that I was "not allowed" to have more than one physical therapist, to which I responded that it's Kaiser and myself that are paying for my care, that Kaiser is aware I'm receiving treatment at their clinic as well as through their outside referral and they have no treatment or payment issue with the arrangement, and they care authorizing extra external care. I asked Carol, "so who is it that decides that I'm not allowed" for which she just repeated that it's not allowed. Her refusal to provide a meaningful explanation for her behavior and simply deny service left me feeling like some sort of pariah. Sadly, I am in elevated pain today and need treatment. I explained that to Carol as well and asked if I could receive treatment today and then resolve whatever administrative issues there might be. She said "no" and completely denied me service which is authorized and paid for by my insurance company and by myself for a co-payment. I told her I had previously made her aware of the arrangement of also receiving treatment at the Kaiser Hilo clinic, on two previous visits including my very first, to which she replied that she did not understand that, and would still not treat me today. This is after taking a fresh shower, putting on freshly laundered clothing, driving at least an hour round trip, and wasting at least a gallon of gasoline, and sitting in their waiting room for a while. Adding the frosting on top was their office had called me yesterday and interrupted me in a meeting. I took the call which was an appointment reminder, but also a lengthy list of pre-visit infectious disease screening questions regarding travel out of the country, contact with people who had international travel, or maskless attendance with groups and so forth. I took the time out of my meeting yesterday and answered the questions. Upon checking in, I was again asked the same set of screening questions to which I responded that I had been contacted yesterday and already answered them, and did not understand why I was being asked again in less than 24 hours. The clerk responded that it had been charted that I was unable to be reached prior to today's visit. That is a lie and failure to properly chart patient information, and I believe a violation of HIPAA confidentiality law since this was being asked of me verbally in a waiting room with other people who could overhear the conversation. Sorry folks, it's a lie and poor charting. I have the call record receipt. I find this place unorganized, unprofessional, uncaring, and operating in a manner that is arbitrary, capricious, and contrary to healing and wellness. They have wasted my time and treated me poorly. If the Hippocratic oath is part of physical therapy, it's been violated here today Finally as I was writing this I got a return call from Kaiser Permanente to make an alternate outside referral, and they confirmed they are aware of, and ok with, my receiving physical therapy care at both the Hilo clinic AND an adjunct outside provider. It was never explained nor provided in patient documents from Kinesis Hawaii / Pahoa Physical therapy that I was not allowed to have two providers, yet I was denied treatment in a power hungry uncaring manner based on the whim of the moment by my care provider who is also an owner of the physical therapy clinic. Carol Ladeluca-Myrianthis cares more about whatever power move us going on in her head than providing needed care that is authorized and paid for. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I refuse to ever support a business like this! Horrible wearing a mask because safety of your staff and patients I could have done but completely denying service is horrible place does not deserve any stars. I feel like even asking is invasion of my choice and privacy and you have no idea why I don't even have it! Horrible practice beware

This little guy has many years of experience in this business and has fingers that do magic. He pushed & he pulled..... and Wala.....my shoulder got a little better after each visit. Had an order for a lumbar injury treatment which I KNOW was received b/c the receptionist confirmed it before I made my appt. The first appt Carol was focused on my neck and said 'we'd get to my back later'. (I'd had an order from the previous year for neck). She is so busy with a conveyor belt of sectioned areas she dashes in and out of, and seems incapable of LISTENING, instead interrupts each issue /answer you are trying to give concerns you have, and shifts to the next matter. The 2nd appt I had been in agonizing pain with neck and a triggered weeklong migraine from exercises she wanted me to do for 2 weeks. I TRIED to explain again that I was there for my Lumbar injury referral for an injury in early April -nearly 2 months prior- and needed attention to that matter and some home exercises to strengthen and a list of movements to avoid or include. I NICELY and politely tried to explain I didn't feel like she was really listening to me and she got huffy and defensive and I again, very kindly said she was being rather 'abrupt' with me. She pretty much yelled in my face, "I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU!". I kept my cool and said then please help my lumbar issues. She got very defensive and hateful and said "We have NO record of a request for that area! Only your neck!". I said I was sure the Dr's sent it and she huffed out saying "She'd just go call them" and I could "Just leave and come back some other time when they received it.". CLEARLY, someone in the office told her it WAS received but she would not confirm it but returned to say "We'll find it" and would warm up the neck and move to the back area and be sure to address it before I left. Went thru some perfunctory neck exercises-despite my instance I needed LUMBAR care- and in the end said, "We'll get you back in a couple days to start the addressing the back issue". I ASKED AGAIN, "DID YOU FIND THE REFERRAL" and she said, "We'll find it, we'll find it!". I asked the receptionist on the way out, the same one I communicated with on the phone in regards to the referral and the while waiting to make the appt until they had it, "Do you have the referral for the lumbar therapy??". She looked and said, "Yes, we have it right here". . So that, to me, would mean when Carol stormed out of the area telling me I could leave and come back another time when they had it, yet went to the front regarding it, she was made aware they DID have it. A NORMAL person would have simply come back and said, "Our mistake, we do have it , lets reset", and all would have been fine, even though she was so rude in her communication, I would have continued to try the correct area PT. Due to the hateful way she treated me though, I suppose then admitting it was HER mistake was beyond her. So, now I've wasted 2 copays for treatment of an area I was not seeking care for, been treated badly and talked down to by someone who can't take the time to HEAR a patient clearly or embrace some common communication skills one would expect from a professional of any sort. *I DID have a copy of my E.R. visit and MRI results on my first visit, which she cast aside without looking at it. I took it the second time and she did the same.

When I confronted the Business Manager and asked to see on my chart if the request from my doctor was on my chart. She told me that the Therapist is the one that makes the decision on what she wants to do with her clients. When I asked her more questions about my situation she changed the story around and began to tell me, that I owe her $25.00 for a no show fee from Last week Monday. I usually get a reminder phone call to let me know that my appointment for Monday is on Friday before.I was told that Friday's phone calls is to remind people of their Monday appointments and Monday calls is for Tuesday. Scottie called me that same day in the morning reminding me to bring a mask or no services will be provided. He failed to tell me that I have an appointment that morning when he called me.There is NO sign that says that there is a $25.00 fee for No Show in their office. I told her that I do not feel that I should pay for it. She told me that she will refuse services if I did not pay for it. When I went back to Linda and asked her why, I was not getting heat, ultrasound and massage she said, that her only focus was for me to get exercise and will not help me with getting pain relief after the exercise session. I went there with 6.5 level of pain and now I have experiencing a 10. I would not recommend you going here if you want to go there with pain and leave them in pain.
