Joe called me after a VA referral and left a message to call the receptionist for an appointment…read more No introduction and called me by the wrong name. I called and they never responded and yes I was insulted that Joe couldn't even get my name right and lnever called me back! I called again and left a message and yes I was annoyed because no one responded to my last one. He called back was super combative and rude. No apology for calling me the wrong name and said he sent me an email which I didn't get. It's possible it went to junk and got deleted. I wasn't told they'd be emailing me! I said I don't often check my email and he said that's not his problem. I hung up! Why employ a receptionist who is rude and unclear about exactly what the process is for getting a therapist and an appointment? I asked to talk to the director and he said he was not there, why couldn't he have forwarded me to the directors line? I'm assuming it's because he knows he was wrong and unprofessional and has no intention of allowing me to speak to the director.

My husband and I went to Leslie Gustafson about three years ago and it took us 2-1/2 years to find…read moreour real problem and recover from her inability to guide couples through a crisis in their sex life. She spent all four sessions talking only to me (wife) and putting the blame on me for the problems in our sex life just because my husband would put on his shame face when we were in there (which a real therapist would know is a deeper problem and is not something a spouse can fix). He told her he had previously struggled with pornography and she never once touched on that with him, which seems pretty basic in a couple struggling with sexual intimacy. Now, I know that my husband and I both had our issues which is why were there, but she only focused on one of us which only made our issues worse. When I spoke of his anger outbursts (which were porn and shame related, by the way), she said "Well, is it his fault if he doesn't know why he's angry?" At least my husband had the wherewithal to say "It's not HER fault." Only a really bad therapist would communicate such horrible boundaries. My husband was later diagnosed by a much better therapist as a sex addict. What kind of sex therapist misses something so obvious?! If you are in need of help, DO NOT go to Leslie Gustafson or your problem will only be made worse. Find a real therapist.
