I was just in the hospital where a hematocrit was the only test Dr. Metchick as the consulting GYN ordered. I had to advocate for myself with the attending physician for a test to see my ovaries, after telling them I had a cyst on the left ovary. He said he was just an internal medicine doctor and that the ultrasound (transvaginal) that I wanted was not in his wheel house. When I asked Dr. Metchick she looked surprised and said "Oh they didn't order that?". Well as the GYN she should have known that was the only way to see the ovaries. A week later I was having surgery to remove my ovaries because of an ovarian torsion at a different hospital. read more

DO NOT USE!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE We moved states. Made an appointment in January for March ROUTINE YEARLY EXAM. I take bioidentical hormones which are going to expire at the end of April. I also have 1 other prescription that is related to hormone issues/water retention and weight gain. It's a mind diuretic and was always prescribed by my old gyn. I filled out tons of pre-paper work about my health history before the appointment and emailed it all in. (All paper based) Also I requested my medical records from my old doctors to be sent. So they had all my medical information. The NP Gina George/Regina George walked in the room and from the start it was not a good feeling at all. She asked me NOTHING about my general health background. Her only questions were about pap and mammogram results. From a breast standpointI told her in the past I would get the routine mammogram, if they saw issues would do 3 more images ....so a diagnostic and even had an MRI one time since I had dense breasts. Wanted NOTHING to do with any other medical history! I had expectations of a doctor who wanted to know the whole patient and help them on their health journey. If you have those expectations. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. In addition she screamed at me during the breast exam that I had lumps in my breast and no current mammogram. Dec 2023 was my last one. No explanation of it could be just your dense breast. NOTHING. Her manner was atrocious. I asked about my additional prescription and she said that was not her's to prescribe. She was for the yearly gyn visit (She might as well said get the hell out....) I get home and look at my orders for the mammogram and the blood work. Neither are coded routine. So I called my insurance company to confirm. For the mammogram they said if I went with the way it was coded it would cost almost $1200 out of pocket. But if I did the screening and then had to have a diagnostic it would be around $500. I called the imagining center to confirm on this. They said the same thing. And then if there needed to do an MRI it would be scheduled at a later date and they would talk to the doctor for that order. For the blood work she didn't even order a complete and yearly routine blood test. She coded it for hot flashes (which I don't have) and only for hormone testing. Again it's not routine so NOTHING would be covered in this case. I called the practice to get new orders. And was told "You don't get to tell them me to be a doctor. I have been in medical practice more than for 40 years" Cannot believe a practice can treat a patient like this! I made a new appointment with another practice and hoping they will share the pap results. At this point I am NOT confident that would even happen after the response I got so far. read more

I am visiting New Smyrna on vacation and needed to make an unexpected visit. I didn't know where to go, or who to see. I am SO thankful for Dr. Metchick and her staff. The minute I walked in the door, the lady at the desk made me feel better. She was friendly and she was able to get me in to see the doctor!! Her nurse was great. She also was so friendly, and very caring. When Dr Metchick came in, she could tell I was really nervous and uncomfortable. She took the time to listen to me, and never once made me feel uncomfortable. She was able to take care of what needed taken care of. I had zero pain, zero uncomfortableness. My appointment was at 1120 and I left at 1140. Thank you so much for helping me. You made the rest of my trip 1000x better. I 100% recommend this doctor!! read more

This practice is great. The Dr and ARNP are both equally qualified to treat your female issues. If you are moving here from up north and trying to find a doctor you need to get a primary care Dr first. This office is for gynecological issues not primary care. If you are not satisfied find another doctor. Everyone one I know goes to this practice with no issues. read more

I made an appointment with Dr. Metchick for September 2024. The day before a hurricane was hitting our area the staff called to say all appointments cancelled and they would call me back the next week to reschedule. No call back ever. I called a month later and could not get another appointment until January 23rd. With their Nurse practitioner. I told them at the time my insurance was changing to Humana. I show up for my appointment Today and am turned away because the dr decided not to take any more Humana patients. The person at the desk said I called on 1/1/25 and told them I had another new insurance. Who works on January 1st. That was completely untrue. So glad I found out now what this practice is like. Shame on all of them! read more

Not mature likes to set surgery up then days before back out. Staff is not very bright. They want paid in full before will do anything for you. Can't do procedures inless you pay it all. This is not right. read more

Let me start by saying this pains me writing this. I moved to the area in 2015 and have been going to Dr. Metchick since. I find her warm and attentive and a generally nice person. She takes time to listen and to answer questions. I will also say that I have never seen the same staff in all the times I have had an appointment and it wasnt a problem until this year. First in February I was told I had a $200 balance and could not make an appointment until it was paid, the balance was from 2017, I had been for office visits numerous times and was never told I had a balance and I have insurance and an HRA. Then she said "Oh yeah we do have a new billing system, let me talk to the office manager." Never heard back. This week I called to come in for an issue, I was told I was inactive at my request, not sure how that happened but they did correct. I went in and was told they would call in an RX for me. A day later, after leaving numerous messages, because they do not answer the phone I finally received call back and was told they always call in RXs the next day. Not sure what they issue is but staff is so important, if you can't keep your staff there is an issue. read more

My girlfriend had to wait a month and a half just to get an appointment.. 8 minutes before the appointment they call and say that Heather isn't there, and that they have to cancel the appointment. This was October 28th, they said they don't have another opening until December 21st or something like that after it was their fault the appointment got canceled. If you want to wait literally 4 months for your appointment then go here, if not you should go somewhere else. Not only did they cancel it, but 8 minutes before the appointment. The office was clean, tidy and updated. I waited in lobby less than 5 minutes before I was taken into the back. The nurse was pleasant and personable. Dr metchick came in about 10 minutes later. She was kind and professional. My entire appt time for annual exam was 30 mins wow! Great atmosphere and professionalism. Would def recommend to others! read more
