Was able to get my lawnmower going after the "fix" but after using my lawnmower for one section of my lawn it stopped working again. I was looking for a good place to get my lawn mower and string trimmer repaired and was referred to Heaven Sent by two separate people.(already off to a good start) I didn't go for any of the items but anybody that is into tools can probably find something of interest there. I'd definitely agree with the other reviewer that it's more of a male shop. The gentleman that repaired my lawn mower was also the owner to the best of my knowledge as he was described as having a pretty awesome beard by others. (I have beard envy) He told me it might be a week before he could repair my lawn mower but he far exceeded that and called me back in just two days. When I arrived they recognized me and immediately offered help. He pulled out both pieces of equipment told me what he did to fix them and demonstrated they were fully functioning. He also told me that if I had any problems with his repairs to just let him know. They also seemed cleaner than when I brought them in so it's obvious he shined them up a bit. In my mind, he went above and beyond as the screw on my carb was absolutely stuck. Luckily, he had a replacement carb on hand and was able to chisel the old one off and replace it and didn't even charge me extra. After paying and leaving him behind to head for my truck he was nice enough to run out after me and offered to help me lift the lawn mower into the bed. So I have probably driven by this place at least 100 times before finally stopping in today. Hate to say I could probably have lived without ever going here. As previous reviewers have mentioned it may be a Man's thrift store but if I were a man I'd be insulted. If this were the first "thrift store" anyone ever visited, I doubt they would ever go to another one. So much stuff packed into a small place. The odor of gasoline form all the lawn mowers outside permeated the inside. If half the stuff were taken out it would still be crowded. That being said I did find hubby 2 nice shirts for a total of $7 and myself a nice pair of boots for $4. Our lawnmower broke just at the beginning of spring lawn mowing season. I had visions of having to buy a new one. Found this well-hidden company in a little neighborhood near me. Brought it over this morning and I was home about a half hour before he called to say it was fixed. He was very nice and of course very affordable. A couple weeks ago we were looking for somewhere to get our lawn mower repaired, because it wouldn't start at all after having sat in our garage over the fall/winter. My husband had called some places closer to us (we live in Woodinville), but nobody returned his messages. I did some research into places a little farther out, found Heaven Sent, and decided to give them a call to make an appointment. James answered right away and told us to bring the mower over whenever we could - so we were there about 45 min later. His business is in the front yard of a house - parking can be a little tight if anyone else is there, but we had no problem pulling up to the curb to offload our mower. He took our mower, gave it a once over, and let us know it'd be $90 with tax. We left our name, number, and agreed on the cost, and he said it'd be a couple hours. 2.5 hours or so later, he called us and let us know the mower was ready. We drove over to pick it up, and the mower was running good as new! He said there was some oil in our filter, and the inside got all gummed up from old gas. We paid him (debit or check preferred, FYI) and he also gave us a little card with tips on how to make sure our mower runs better, longer. Overall, we were really pleased with the fact that we could call him and have our lawn mower working good as new a few hours later. We hope we won't have to see him again, but if we do have mower issues down the line, we'll definitely go to him! read more

James is fast-fast, totally honest, and super-skilled at what he does. And he charges a reasonable amount. We bought a new gas-powered generator about 5 years ago. When it was new, we tested it out, then left the gas in it. (BIG MISTAKE! DON'T DO THIS WITH ANY OF YOUR GAS-POWERED TOOLS!) James cleaned out the entire system and got it running again. He also showed us how to drain the gas in the future. He solved this problem very quickly; we dropped it off and picked it up within just a few hours. I almost feel disinclined to share this little gem... Heaven Sent Secondhand is a strange little thrift store on 522 just on the edge of Lake Forest Park in Shoreline. It looks kind of like a yard sale and the grumpy old men that work there have a tendency to sneak up behind you, but don't let the creepy vibe turn you off. This is probably the only thrift store in the world that defies the age-old adage "don't ever go thrifting for a specific thing." Put on your grown-up panties because... They have Pyrex (3.99), vintage cameras (4.99), commemorative plates (1.99), blue willow china (1.99), really fantastic mid-century furniture, and just about anything else you're desperate for. Stuff isn't super cheap and I'm pretty sure they aren't charity affiliated but I got the sneaking suspicion that you might be able to haggle. For exactly $12 I got a Hawkeye Instamatic, flashbulbs and a pyrex casserole dish. read more

So for the last 8 years, i was going to Alderwood Mall Sears to get my lawn mower cleaned and fixed. Would pay $100+ every year to maintain a mower that cost $199, and it would take Sears 2+ weeks to get it fixed because they would ship it somewhere. This year Alderwood Mall Sears got closed, and who knew it was a good thing? :) Went online, searched for local mower repairs, and found James at Heaven Sent. Heaven Sent is ranked #2 among mower repairs but really should be ranked #1 if you asked me :) After working with James, i must say that his company name really suits the way he approaches his business and his customers. This is a great local small business. The owner runs his shop out of his home and he provides excellent service and prices. I first brought him an old (early/mid 90s) Honda whisper quiet generator, a newer blower and an old early 90s chainsaw. These were passed down to me by my father so I had some desire to get the working again after sitting in his garage so many years. He got all three up and running. I then brought in a hedge trimmer that had a few pieces missing and he repaired that too. He was extremely knowledgeable, kept me updated on the whole process and was very reasonable with prices and the replacement parts. Backstory - my friend and I had driven by the small sign in Lake Forest Park for at least a year when we finally decided to venture down and check out this thrift store. This is definitely a man's thrift store - if there is such a thing. I mainly say that because there were a zillion guys in here looking at junk. It smelled like used motor oil. The women's clothing was 80s. The book section wasn't as I had hoped. They did have some interesting prints. I was too intimated by this place. This is a store that is somewhat overwhelming for me as there is so much stuff packed in it. Every time I go back I see stuff I missed before. I purchased some antique horn handled carving knives and a vintage set of high quality never used horn handled Sheffield steak knives very reasonably. My sons and I go back every couple of weeks as the inventory changes. I often call prior to shopping for an item and a couple of weeks ago I called when looking for a power saw. I bought a 1956 Delta radial arm saw that operates perfectly for $49. Saved at least $100 if not more. Check it out make a respectful offer and bargain away. I too have experienced the store being unexpectedly closed, however being a frequent customer I realize that they close to do their estate clean outs and other inventory acquisitions. Same as other reviews I drove by this place many times before realizing they did lawn mower maintenance and repair. They gave my 10 plus year old mower a tune up and replaced the fuel hose for a very good price. I expected it to take a few days to a week. I picked up the mower the day after I dropped it off. It has worked great since. They even washed it. Great service, reasonable price and really nice people. I will go back for my next tune up.
