She canceled on me a week before my appt saying my labs were fine. I waited months to get in to see a specialist of course. I am very familiar with RA as this runs in my family. If you are RF negative which both members in my family are then she will cancel. She goes by labs and will not even give you an exam. Her staff kept saying they had me do labs and they haven't (my PCP did). And not all the necessary labs that a rheumatologist would require even. Apparently she doesn't know you can be RF- and still have RA. Very unethical dr! She had the earliest new patient date to be seen and now I know why. Don't bother going to her if you want a intelligent dr that actually specializes in their field. I don't normally write reviews but this was very upsetting. Now I have to wait several more months to see another specialist.

For years, I was lucky I had two fantastic rheumatologists down in South Florida but they retired. It was bittersweet, but I was looking forward to not driving over an hour and a half each way to the doctor anymore as I had moved the year before . I quickly realized that I would gladly keep driving an hour and a half because there was a lack of specialists in my area. The first one was nice enough but just kept typing never examined you and seemed uninterested. In 5 min he would ask if you need any refills if you had any concerns and tell you to come back in three months and leave, after you waited three hours in the waiting room. I went back three times because everyone has an off day but things remain the same. Then I called the second office in town and was told send in my records and the doctor would decide if she wanted to see me or not. That was a hard no for me. This is not a concierge doctor. This is an office that takes insurance and Medicare, etc. but you have to pass an audition to get an appointment. Ludacris. Imagine my joy when I heard Dr Kumar had opened a practice in the area. You may think the wait time is a little long and it's not because they overbooked. It's because he takes the time to make his patients feel heard , discuss options for treatments , goes over your medical chart himself not his nurse and genuinely seems to care about you I guess it says a lot about a doctor when almost the entire staff from a hospital affiliated office he was at before came with him to a new area to set up a new office.

Rheumatologists are in high demand in our area, and this doctor is super knowledgeable, but she's not the most patient or kind person. Despite her attitude and insults, I stay because of the severity of my case (I have very complex chronic conditions) and limited insurance coverage. I'm actively looking for a new rheumatologist. The office staff is great and makes dealing with her a bit easier.
