Selling a house is difficult as it is. The last thing you want to add to an already stressful process is a difficult contractor. Her business model is to pay for services before they are rendered which naturally inspires distrust on both ends. as a multi property owner who works with contractors frequently, this is an unusual and shady business practice. A deposit is even more reasonable than requiring an invoice to be paid in full, however, in the interest of time, we agreed to pay for each service as we go with the understanding that the work would be complete. The first service was the caulking of the bathroom. We paid in full up front only to arrive and realize the work was incomplete and sloppy. The shower floors were caulked using a white paint that did not match the original colors. So when she requested we pay for then next service (painting) fee up front, we explained that we would like some sort of guarantee that the work will be completed, which is reasonable considering the first service was not completed. Her response? "He will complete the shower when he returns to paint- Who said he was done?!" To which I shared with her the email where she clearly states the work was completed. Instead of her taking accountability for the inconsistencies in her own statements, her response is, "I'm not going back and forth with you!" Yes. I can't make this stuff up. That same day, we were instructed to move all furniture to the center of the room in preparation for the painting all for the no one to show up and no response from her. Mind you, we had to vacate the unit in order for the contractor to work. Fortunately we have another apartment across town but Imagine if we were in hotel, we would've put ourselves in a deeper financial hole all because she didn't "feel like going back and forth" and stopped responding completely. On top of telling us she doesn't have time to go back and forth she would constantly over share "I took time out of my busy week when I had twins graduating next week, am a single mom etc etc" it's just wildly unprofessional and should not take away from your accountability and professionalism as a business owner. We were constantly cut off and talked over. Our concerns were frequently ignored or dismissed with comments like "darling, don't worry your pretty little head" and "I have been doing this for years". Incredibly condescending and patronizing when you could simply just provide us with the guarantees we are asking for. I have never been so disrespected as a customer, yet had to bite my tongue because we were at her mercy. We were really excited to be supporting a black owned business but clearly no good deed goes unpunished. I truly believe she has a talent with staging but talent does not equate to business savviness. Enrolling in business courses would benefit her and future clients greatly. read more

Wow, wow, WOW! This place...I don't know where to begin. We stopped by their Home Store today after many weeks of trying to make room in our schedule to visit. My partner has been eyeing the green couch for a few weeks now and we mainly stopped by to purchase it. Although it was sold we were intrigued by all of their offerings! The creativity in each piece on display was mind blowing to say the least. You can tell they are passionate about interior decor and helping you see different ways of using each piece. This visit really helped our creative juices flow. We purchased two geometric wall planters and the even let us purchase the faux vines on display to put in them. Also, did I mention this is family-owned and operated? And Black owned. I wish nothing but continued success to this business and hope it thrives during and after the pandemic. Overall, I think this place is amazing and I've never seen a Black-owned home store. Dope products at a reasonable price. My wife and I will definitely be back to support! read more

This is an amazing group of women who help you make your old stuff look fresh and fabulous! I attended a sip and paint with my friend to learn how to paint and distress furniture. It was so much fun to meet new people and learn how to transform furniture into something new. I left feeling very comfortable with the paint brush and knowing that "there is no wrong way to paint". If you want your place staged to look like college dorm furniture accessorized at Wal-Mart, then this is your stager. For what they charged and what the staged my condo with, it would have been cheaper and better to have bought furniture from IKEA and offered for free or threw it away once done. read more

H&H is a really amazing staging company with very friendly owners. They staged a recent home purchase of ours and were super friendly to work with. It's a family business, and they were all so nice. I tried to refrain from writing this review because I truly do sympathize that they're a small business and had a tough time during COVID. I'll even caveat this review that some of the issues I had were due to communication issues between my realtor and these stagers. But nonetheless their unprofessionalism, lack of customer service, constant excuses, inconsistent billing and damage to my house when removing furniture led me here to write this review. 1. Since I was in the middle of selling the property right at the start of COVID, we had to send a a video for them to review to get an idea of how to stage the house. It was my understanding that they were good with what we sent. They did not request any additional info. Come day of, they blamed ME for not providing enough info and charged me an additional $150 because they messed up and had to go back to their warehouse to grab more furniture. 2. I had some tenants living at the property at the time. They were even aware of this and I had agreed to paid a deposit in case the tenants messed up their furniture. There was some furniture left in the house because I was told that they may be able to reuse some things here and there and would be able to help and remove the furniture to put it in my garage if it didn't work for them. Now before I go on, I'll admit that my real estate agent did a poor job in communicating and that some of these issues arose from that. When they came they said they didn't realize they had to move furniture and I even agreed to pay extra for them to move the unnecessary furniture out and to clean whatever was needed. Keep in mind that I moved 90% of the furniture out myself AND cleaned the place relatively well before they even came so I know exactly what the condition was of the house. I had asked for a rough estimate on price and they said they would call back and tell me but instead I just get a paypal invoice. What was on this invoice was a joke. Declutter main level $150 Removal of 'trash' aka some bags and stuff on counter tops $150 light cleaning $150 remove of furniture $120 CONVENIENCE CHARGE $150 (wtf IS THAT???) Lack of preliminary vision $150 (their fault) The first 3 charges are literally the same charge... My agent had to beg them to reduce it and they only reduced to 500. Keep in mind, all the cleaning that they had to do only took about 1 hour. 3. Professionalism - We had agreed on a price, I had paid the price. Then after our displeasure of having their furniture in my house they retroactively sent me a contract with a HIGHER price, then also tried to charge me AGAIN. I can't even tell if they're unprofessional or just scammers at this point. When I called to try to work with them I just got excuses all day, and they did not even try to budge at all. 4. Now for the deposit I paid! They were just gonna take it entirely. without even contacting me to let me know. I had to follow up with them. I got a whole 80 bucks back. wow. None of the furniture was even damaged. 5. 2 weeks later I come back to my property only to see marks and dings on my freshly painted walls. Horrible patch jobs where they nailed into the wall. 6. Now for the last straw that broke the camel's back. They stole one of my paintings I had in the house. They can't even figure out what even belongs to them. read more

I attended a 2 hour workshop (Sip and Paint- bring your own piece) here on painting furniture. The ladies of Heels and Hardware were phenomenal. They made us feel right at home and were so knowledgeable on the subject of DIY projects. This is a great intro for beginners but also a great way to get new ideas and push boundaries for those with a little experience but want to do more. I absolutely recommend doing a class with them! I attended a Sip and Paint class with these ladies and it has been the highlight of my week!! I found the class on Eventbrite and decided to give it a try given that I love to refurbish furniture and all things DIY. From the moment that I arrived, the ladies made you feel so welcome and at ease to ask any questions in regards to technique.
