I obtained multiple estimates and Malte's was in line with the middle of the very large range. Malte was great to work with and I love my new bathroom! He was extremely helpful in referring me to Robert at The Tile Shop in Springfield. The shop has a large number of display bathrooms, so you can get many good ideas. Robert was fantastic in providing design advice and the end result is very much due to his tactful recommendations (on several occasions, he reminded me that due to the small space, I wanted to avoid having too much going on). Malte also guided me throughout the design process, making sure that my design ideas were functional as well. Malte started and completed the remodel in the agreed upon time frame for the agreed upon price. He was always willing to explain the process and answer my questions (I was an involved and some might say demanding client.) At the completion of the project, he asked me if I was happy with everything. I have to admit that of all the numerous contractors who have worked in my house, Malte is the first to actually ask this and make sure that I was pleased with everything before he left. Instead our project was completed ahead of schedule, just under budget, and the quality of the work was excellent. And that includes an expanded project scope that came up when we discovered large issues with a neighboring property. Fairmont was incredibly flexible and easy to work with. They were always willing to listen to our ideas and make changes as needed. They were also very responsive to my questions and concerns. Fairmont's foreman or a partner subcontractor was on-site on average more than five days a week for the entire many-month project. This allowed them to keep a close eye on the work and make sure that everything was done to the highest standards, and if not the first time, they made sure it was redone. Unlike several neighboring projects, we had no stop work orders, no neighbor complaints (complements actually), and all our inspections were successful. I would highly recommend Fairmont to anyone looking for a home builder or doing a major urban renovation. They are professional, reliable, and they do great work.

However, I am an old house lover (now a three-time renovator) and keeping or reinventing old house detail was important. Carlos manages construction, the tradesmen, the sub-contractors, and the overall quality of the workmanship on the job. He is an experienced builder, taking pride in bringing ideas to life but careful to offer full disclosure on the pros, cons and risks of each option. Jose manages the business side of the project - budgeting and billing, tracking and documenting changes, purchase of materials, recommending vendors for kitchen design, tiles, stone, flooring etc. Most important was his management of communications between Fairmont and me, the homeowner. Jose took time to ask questions and listen carefully to answers. I know and appreciate how rare it is to have good communication. I also have lived the consequences of mediocre communication. Mistakes are costly. Jose follows a protocol of asking, clarifying, and following up with an email restating our discussion and inviting me to comment, add, or correct. The answers don't matter as much as the asking and listening. This worked so well there were no horror stories. To summarize: Strong management of the permitting process, of sub-contractors, deliveries, security of the property and use of appropriate safety measures. I think its important to say also that the project was managed ethically, honestly and respectfully. Everyone on the job was pleasant and upbeat. Weekly walk-thru meetings insuring the work was proceeding according to agreement. Efficient cascade of information, decisions and/or changes, from homeowner and Fairmont to the tradesmen and subcontractors. A solid team of workers - excellent workmanship, site management and daily clean-up. Also, no profanity or loudness, no littering, no complaints from neighbors, and very happily, no accidents. Lastly, Fairmont checks in with you periodically during the year following move-in. Together we created a list of little adjustments and changes that you can't anticipate until you move in. All done! The house is lovely - beautiful carpentry, millwork and all the details that make it livable for me. In fact, I was so impressed by their personable, thoughtful and accommodating approach, I had them simultaneously renovate two additional bathrooms in addition to the laundry/utility room and bathroom in the basement. I have had increasing challenges with rheumatoid arthritis and Dave Taghipour, the owner, and Oksana, the designer, listened carefully to my current obstacles in these spaces and worked with me to develop beautiful, accessible, spaces where form follows function. Their showroom has a wide variety of samples, but they are also flexible about incorporating clients' specific choices. Compared to other design/install companies in the area, they are far less costly and finished all 4 spaces within the initial timeframe they had initially quoted and kept me updated throughout the renovation. The Eco workers are very reliable, friendly and respectful of the clients' space and belongings. Not only did they cover and vent all work areas, they cleaned and tidied up every night and Eco had my house professionally cleaned at the end of the work. I could go on and on about how impressed I am with All Eco and their work, but the final pictures say it all. I love showing off my gorgeous bathrooms and laundry room, which, because All Eco put additional effort into listening and understanding my specific needs/challenges given my disabilities, has made daily use of these space worlds easier for me. But as the saying goes, "happy wife, happy life," or "happy spouse, happy house." After receiving several quotes, we decided to select All Eco Design Center as our contractor due to the customization features we could select, their extensive knowledge of homes in our area, and seeing some of their previous work. We started the process by sending some inspiration pictures to Oksana (designer) and Dave (owner). Our goal for this project was to maintain the structural integrity of the house and update the bathrooms while maintaining the character of the house and incorporating accessibility features without looking too clinical. After a few design sessions, Oksana and Dave captured our design via 3D model, and proposed some recommendations. I appreciated that Dave's company is a full-service operation, with teams specializing in tile, plumbing, electrical, drywall/finishing, etc. Yuri the project manager was also very attentive and thorough. Each employee's craftsmanship showed they were invested in completing the job as if they were doing it for their own home. As no construction project goes without some minor complications, it is noteworthy that this team is accessible and timely to deal with any unexpected events, ensuring the project is completed to the customer's vision. They were not the lowest nor highest price, but we were comfortable with them and knew that the work would be done right. It was. Solomon and the Project Manager, Mr. Fikri, were amazing. Every step of the way they made sure everything was going right, according to the plan. Any questions that came up and decisions that needed to be made they were thorough, fair, reasonable and always had great ideas. The communication was great. We knew exactly when Mr. Fikri and his team would arrive to work and they did. The master bathroom is now a beautiful focal point of our home with a state of the art glass enclosed shower, a water closet, heated floors in the bathroom, and a magazine quality walk in closet. I provided a picture of the color scheme and the solid hardwood floors that I desired. The hardwood floors were a line item in the contract. I also sent an email of the type of solid hardwood floors that I would like from Home Depot to the Project Manager. This company pulled a bait and switch and installed fake hardwood floors when I paid for real hardwood floors. The Project Manager sent me an email stating it was an "oversight". I requested a refund of $6,000; I paid over $15,000 for flooring labor and allowance throughout my house. The company responded, stating that I have a beautiful home and to go and enjoy it. So, after saying it was an "oversight" they failed to take ANY corrective action for this deception. Buyer beware!
