Words can't describe how fantastic it was to have Heidi as our photographer for both our engagement photo session and wedding day! My husband and I planned this wedding from Connecticut so communication was important being that we weren't able to be there in person, and Heidi was so kind and responsive with everything! At first, we didn't think we would want the engagement photo session (since we had already done photos in Connecticut) but after more thought, we figured it'd be beneficial to 1. have photos done with different scenery and 2. get more comfortable with her before our big day. It was such a great idea so I highly recommend other future couples do the same as well! Before booking Heidi, I did a ton of research of different photographers from the area and after I had both the coordinator and venue highly recommend Heidi, there was no need to look any further. It also helped that after I told my other vendors (i.e. DJ, florist) that I was using her, they all commended how great she is. Her packages are very reasonable for the quality of work you receive and she is also more than happy to customize items that you want to add and/or omit. She has great experience with San Diego and recommended such a beautiful location for our engagement session (Scripps Pier) - we had a really fun time with her and left feeling like we both made a new friend. We even got our engagement photos within a few days of the session which I know she worked hard at doing in case we wanted to use any of the photos for the wedding. They were absolutely stunning!! Then on the day of our wedding, her and her assistant (Weston) were perfect. They worked so well with everyone, and got things done and made sure we were always on schedule. I had numerous guests comment on how great the photographers were. We found Heidi through a recommendation from our wedding venue and found her style of photography to be sincere and sharply produced. After an engagement photo shoot to see how she would handle us as unpracticed subjects, we committed to hiring her for our wedding on the spot. What we admired about Heidi from this first shoot, and particularly through our wedding, is how good she is at balancing managing her audience with the technical art of her photography. We described ourselves as being awkward subjects, but going through these shoots - which take a long time! - felt like a conversation with a friend. She switched easily between our close ups and managing our crowd of a family. She also selected a great second photographer for us who ended up being crucial for capturing extra detail before and after our ceremony. Something else to mention here is just how important the final products are. We found Heidi at the Bridal Bazaar at the Convention Center downtown, we originally thought we wouldn't be able to find anything we were looking for at the bazaar because everything is so cookie cutter wedding. Heidi's booth drew us in right away. She has SO much more of an artistic outdoorsy aesthetic then most photographers out there. Heidi is fabulous. She did our maternity shoot in January, and the photos are incredible! She has such an eye for beauty in everything and can really put together a shot. She's incredibly professional as a wedding photographer and knows the flow of events and the ins and outs of capturing a wedding like a seasoned pro, but is also warm, personable, and committed to beauty. We had our wedding at the Japanese Friendship Garden precisely because we thought it was one of the most beautiful places we'd seen, and she captured this for us in a way that's more beautiful than we remember. My husband and I are beyond grateful for the role Heidi played in our wedding day this past May at the Martin Johnson House. She captured such beautiful images for us, preserving our memories for a lifetime, for us to revisit and share. She sent us so many amazing images--the number was astounding! I understand that vendors have their own lives as well as other clients, but it is nice to know you are not being ignored or forgotten when you are making such a big investment in such a significant day. Photography was a top priority for us, one we were willing to invest more in than other wedding items, and we are so glad we chose Heidi! My husband and I feel like we definitely got our money's worth. The package we selected was a great value compared to what some other photographers offer for the same price. (Nearly every other photog we contacted actually charged much more.) And we had a great experience to boot! Photography was the most important part of the wedding to me and my fiancé. When we saw Heidi's photos online, we fell in love with her images and knew we had to have her photograph our wedding. Heidi did both our engagement and wedding photos. When we first met Heidi at our engagement session, my fiancé and I were both a little nervous getting our photos taken and all the PDA involved. Photos are good quality, but out of 700+ photos, count on a lot of repeat photos. Photographer seemed to be shooting for her own media submissions instead of for the client. She did miss some key shots. With two photographers, there should have been at least one shot of key moments. Once you view about half of the photos, the remainder tends to look just like the others. Photographer also needs to be more professional when speaking and dealing with parents, participants and guests of the wedding. read more

Heidi is fantastic! When we first met with her we loved how laid back she was-she matched our personalities. We didn't really want to do the engagement session but she explained how it is a time for us to all get to know each other and to practice being in front of the camera. I am so glad that we did it-I was blown away by how those photos came up. I loved every single one of them. She provided lots of great tips and we even used some of her preferred vendors.
