Took me in last minute! Was leaving for travels and this was the only place that accepted to do an RV couch cover re-construction to fit our model. We couldn't find any couch cover to fit right, so I purchased the best possible one, but still needed some readjustments to fit right. Called around quite a few alteration places and they either totally declined stating they were too busy to accept more work, or said they could not guarantee it back within a week or so. I've been using Helen for about 4 years now and will continue to do so. Every single thing I asked for to be done, it was done on time and perfect every time. I'm in a suit and tie everyday and need to look my best for what it is I do. She has altered my suits jackets, pants, cuff link shirts, polos, and more. I wouldn't trust anyone else working on my wardrobe. You can tell through conversation Helen is from another country, so its understandable if some people wouldn't know how to understand and respect a possible language and culture barrier, however, she is extremely easy to communicate with and I always enjoy visiting her and her staff when taking my suits to Helen. New in town; went to Helen's Alterations despite the older reviews that said to stay away. I went there with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised! The young lady who answered the phone when I called for directions was pleasant and accurate in giving me driving directions. I arrived safely and walked into a small waiting area that was full of customers! (good sign). The shop is neat and tidy and clean. The young lady (I'm sorry, I don't know here name but she is getting married any day) took the time to ask me exactly what I needed to be done (hemming 4 dresses) She explained the pricing and it is very fair. She expertly measured and pinned all four of the dresses separatly; took the time to chat with me about the length of the dress; asked me when I needed them all while smiling and chatting. (there is a "rush fee" if you need it) The only take cash or check so be sure to take either when you go to Helens Alterations. Give Helen's a chance! Note that "Helen" is no longer at the shop but a younger group of ladies who have excellent people skills. read more

If I could give lower than one star I would. This person should not even be a seamstress because she has zero talent. Here's the story: My best friend (I'm the maid of honor) took her gorgeous long sleeve dress to get altered. When she picked it up the openings for the sleeve were so small that she couldn't get her arms through. Also, the dress was still too long, couldn't even hem right. The dress looked terrible. She left the dress to be realtered and when she picked it up the sleeves had a huge hole. The "seamstress" didn't bother telling her about the hole but did make sure to call regarding payment. When my friend came back she tried to act oblivious and said that she could fix it but that it would "look worse" and then tried to shorten the sleeves AGAIN. So now my friend has a short sleeve messed up dress. $300 and a ruined dress down the drain. PLEASE DONT VISIT THIS TALENTLESS PERSON EVER AGAIN read more

I am new to the area and this was my 'FIRST & LAST' visit to this establishment. I 'WOULD NOT RECOMMEND' this seamstress. As per someone else's review and experience below, I also witnessed and dealt with a very disgruntled owner, Helen. Helen's attitude, disposition and constant complaining was shocking to see and hear as a potential new paying customer. Her remarks were negative and not helpful at all. It was as if she didn't like her job and didn't want the work. I have utilized and developed long term business relationships with other seamstresses through the years at two other locations where I've lived. This place 'WILL NOT' be one of them. Other seamstresses did not have any problems with the type of alterations I requested. After reviewing my items, Helen said she was unsure she could satisfactorily complete the alterations although she wanted to be paid in cash up front today and handed me an exorbitant bill. I felt, but did not say to her, that her skill level or perhaps her patience is mainly for minor alterations such as hemming. I told Helen I did not feel comfortable leaving my items with her under the circumstances. Helen then became confrontational and tried to bully $50 cash from me because she 'LOOKED' at my items. I remained polite, thanked her, gathered my belongings and left. Needless to say, I did not pay her $50. IN MY OPINION, HELEN IS EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNQUALIFIED. read more

If all you need is the hem on your pants this place is fine. My wife needed a dress shortened and I needed 2 pairs of pants hemmed and the inseam brought in. She complained about having to do the dress and the inseam. When I went to pick them up I looked at the pants to see if what I wanted done was done. She got defensive and said she only did one pair because the other was smaller. That wasn't true. They were the same size from the same company. I tried the pants on and it didn't look like anything was done to the inseam on either. She did do a good job on the dress. I paid for the services but I would not return. It seemed as if she didn't want our business because we wanted more than just basic work done. read more

I am new to the area and needed alterations to a gown for my sons wedding . Helen's Alterations did a fantastic job. I went there to have three maxi sun dresses shortened and the first thing was while she's pinning me everyone that came in she told them Cash only and you must pay before she does the work and it has to be Cash! Then as I changed my clothes the black jumpsuit I took off I showed her it was full of glitter and dust from the floor she said don't worry I'll fix. After I was done being pinned and my fiancé went to get the 74.00 that she was charging for this alterations she came with a black piece of cloth and told me that the glitter and dirt didn't come from there and that I most have a dog and that's dog hair. I don't have a dog and these clothes came straight from a very exclusive boutique in Miami and we're still wrapped in the plastic. So I grabbed my clothes and three boxes of shoes and told her I don't need her yelling at me over something that happened at her shop and I'll go some place else and at this point she yanked the hangers from my arms and scratched my arm all my shoes fell out and I had to tell her if she touched me again I would call the cops. She followed me outside and was trying to get her tag off so I would have no proof this took place. I refused to give to her and the only reason I didn't call the police it's because I'm recuperating from Triple bypass open heart surgery and the stress was to much and I was getting chest pains. I called and my fiancé picked me up.?He wanted to call the law but I just needed to go home and rest after this horrible experience. I wouldn't go there ever again.
