After making an endless amount of phone calls to fabric shops, I ended up paying a visit to Fabric Bazaar on London Road. The shop is easy to find, and there's even a car park round the back. The staff were really friendly and helpful - and were more than happy to help me find what I was looking for. They have a huge selection of fabrics at Fabric Bazaar - and it's all very reasonably priced.They found me some fabric that was just what I was looking for - and far cheaper than I had been quoted elsewhere. After cutting it and rolling it up for me, they even carried it to my car. It doesn't get much better than that!

They buy job lots, so that affects what they have in stock, but they keep their Facebook page updated with what they have in and they also gave me a business card and told me to phone any time I wanted to ask about stock. I couldn't believe the prices - I got pure wool for £4.99 a metre and linen for £5.99 a metre. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful - I think I'm going to be a regular here! :-)

Remnant Kings in Falkirk is situated in Cow Wynd and is easy to get to…read more Fabric shops these days seam to be few and far between, even buying a zip can be difficult and although you can buy the things this shop stocks on line I personaly feel like there is no comparison between this and accualy seeing and being able to feel the fabric before you buy. It is not a very big shop but is well stocked with fabrics and other sewing items such as zips, ribbons, buttons etc. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly, helpfull and approachable. My first stop when I ever get time to make anything.

I was in here yesterday to get some threaded sequins for my Hallowe'en costume. (supposed to be ringmaster: looking more like pornographic clown) The sequin reels were only 40p a metre, which is totally affordable. Their range of fabrics is huge, and a few definitely caught my eye - especially the red and black fur. They have buttons and wool; patches and ribbons; and a seasonal Hallowe'en section. The Hallowe'en section has small accessories such as wigs, hats and masks. It's made me want to start making my own clothes, but this will probably go the same way as my jewellery-making, hat-knitting and my "eBay business empire".

Everything you could possibly want fabric or sewing related can be found here - and if it can't the lovely helpful staff will order it in for you. They have a fantastic selection of fabrics, sewing accessories and buttons (I had to once try and find 100 of the same buttons and this was the only place in the city that seemed to be able to meet my demands!). I had no idea what to do once I'd chosen my fabric but the ladies at the shop were really friendly and didn't laugh when I asked loads of obvious questions! I was served by a girl who helped me choose everything I needed for my project - I just showed her the pattern and from that she was able to give me the right amount of material. There's 3 floors of fabric, the ground floor is my favourite. It's where all the children's fabrics are but there's all sorts of cool patterns that would suit adults too. There's also a large clearance section of fabrics. Cotton Print will now be my go to place for fabric in the future, especially as they sell small bits of fabric for quite cheap so even if you're skint you can still buy something.

I was in recently to look for curtain fabric and just to have a nosey. My previous impression of Cotton Print was that it's only for roll-ends and offcuts, so I was very surprised to find that it's a well-stocked shop full of perfectly good fabric. As I mentioned above, there are three floors of fabric and it's all home dec. You enter on the ground level, which is sort of in the middle in terms of quality. The posh stuff is in the basement and the mince for furnishing uni flats and dodgy rentals is upstairs. On the main floor, there's a little cafe where you can get a free cup of coffee or tea to enjoy while you rest your feet and look through their little library of design books. There is a small amount of haberdashery, wallpaper and coordinating cushions on offer, but the main focus is the fabric. I'd strongly recommend it for those inclined toward DIY home decor. We're about to move house, so the chance that you'll see me perusing the rolls at Cotton Print Factory Shop are pretty good these days.

It's not a huge place but it's amazing the selection of yarn they manage to pack in. It's not full of the expensive Alpaca and cashmere blends you might find in John Lewis but it does house a staggering range of colours and textures and all at a decent price. I first discovered the place when looking for yarn to use at a Yelp arm knitting get-together organised by Lucy B. I hadn't been able to find anything I liked elsewhere but there was a great choice at Supasew. I ended up choosing a felty blue and white yarn with a leopard print. I knitted up wonderfully and was so soft and snuggly! I was also tempted into buying a gorgeous random yarn that ended up becoming a lovely hat for my friend. My most recent trip was to buy some yarn for Christmas knitting projects, I knew exactly what I wanted and was pleased that they not only had what I needed but that there were different options to choose from. A fluffy white yarn and a sparkly red are now mine and will soon be transformed into lovely Christmas themed bits and bobs. I was running in and out tonight but I spotted about 10 other yarns I want to go back and have a look at. As well as yarns the shop also stocks a good variety of knitting needles, buttons, ribbons and other haberdashery bit and bobs to help you finish your project. This small shop is an amazing jumble of fantastic yarns- many not or barely available in the States. She stocks many UK yarns and some further flung but all really beautiful. The shop owner was incredibly helpful in figuring out weight and yardage I needed for a pattern. The website gives an idea of some of the selection but of course seeing them in person is always the best way to know what calls to you.
