We visit here about every Sunday when we can. We have never had a bad experience nor a bad dish. Our go to Eats are the chicken fried steak and the smothered burrito. I've also had their Benedict which was awesome. Every visit entails their Bloody Marys. One of the best I've ever had-- they're truly tasty and great. Oh, and their food portions are HUGE. Okay, I don't know what people see in this place. The staff and presentation of the food is pretty unprofessional. The food is just OK, and my supposedly "fresh brewed" ice tea, as the menu called it, was stale tasting. Also, we ordered the tri tip "works" sandwich, $10.95 for just the sandwich, no fries or anything with it! The waitresses looked unprofessional as well, wearing what resembled gym clothes. Great food! The service is a little slower than your average "diner" but this is no average diner! The best pancakes I EVER had!

My wife has wanted to eat here since she first saw their sign. So- The Iced Tea was either instant, bottled, or incompetently brewed. In any case it rates an F. Wifey's Pulled Pork Sandwich bun was softer than a fine dinner roll and fell apart on her first pickup so she tossed the bun. The pulled pork was, as the menu stated, smothered in BBQ sauce- that came from a bottle. FF Potatoes were hot & quite tasty. But what's with one small slice of tomato? My Cajun Grilled Chicken sandwich was Ok for a chicken sandwich. There was no Cajun to it. Someone needs to run over to New Orleans and taste a real one. OK, Houston's closer or maybe Casa Grande will fit the budget better. Had the one slice of tomato issue, too. Oh, for a "gourmet" restaurant, food is served in plastic and paper. OMG! Hope this place survives despite the loss of our business. I predict that it will not be here very long. There were a lot of cars there for the the number of patrons eating while we were there. I've been here 3 times for breakfast. There are always obnoxiously loud customers. I think they should ask these people to keep the noise to a reasonable level. Laughing and having a good time is always a good thing until the screeching and extremely loud outbursts of cackling scares the little kids and stings the adults ears. Stand-alone and nothing super eye-catching from the outside, but it had a friendly staff (make it clear you want privacy if you don't like chatting 2-4x full conversations during your meal with the wait staff), clean space with good lighting, and the food is absolutely worth 5 stars. We had tri-cut biscuit (their specialty), biscuits and sausage gravy, sausage, eggs, breakfast sandwich w. hash browns. Tri-cut biscuit was divine, well flavored and not dried out. Difficult thing to cook right and serve consistently in a restaurant. Biscuits and sausage gravy tasted from scratch and delicious. hash browns were perfectly cooked and dry (not nasty greasy) sausages were fat, cooked well, and delicious. Eggs just right (I buy farm fresh, tasted great) Breakfast sandwich tasted incredible, was pleasantly surprised at it's blend of home-made but still high quality. Catered an event for my job and the food was flawless. I almost never enjoy the vegan option for functions like this and Helen's kitchen really over-achieved on all Halal, vegan, non-dairy, kosher, and regular choices. Just had breakfast here for the first time and couldn't be happier! The food was AMAZING, the country potatoes were phenomenal, I had to stop myself from ordering more when I was already full. The service was great and the owner even came out and talked to us and made sure we had a good experience. You can tell she's very passionate about her food, and the freshness of the ingredients. (Minus the frozen hash browns that she started serving after she received multiple requests for it). She takes pride in the food she serves and she should! We are making this a new regular spot from here on out. If I could give it more stars, I would. Plus, this is the exact kind of business my husband and I like to support, small and local. I would love to try a new sit down restaurant in town, but its hard to do when theyre only open LESS than TWO days per week! What kind of restaurant, or ANY business for that matter only opens for a day and a half?! It boggels my mind as the small parking lot is always full. UPDATE: due to the Railroad overpass being built, this Restaurant will be closed for about 2 years. In the meantime Helens will continue their Catering Business from this location. We have been wanting to experience Helens Kitchen since it opened. On May 09, 2017 we met a group there for lunch. They had a table set up for 10 people from our Club. We arrived within 10 minutes of each other. The menus and silverware were set up. Looking over the menu, it contained many items that I would like. My wife ordered the Rise & Shine Breakfast. I decided on the Bourbon BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger w/fries. The restaurant is very clean in every area that I viewed. The meals, cooked to order, arrived in 10 to 15 minutes. Table service was very good! Drink refills and extra napkins arrived as requested. My burger and fries were cooked as per my request. My wife reported that she enjoyed her breakfast. This restaurant is opened for breakfast & lunch. I recommend Helen's Kitchen to all! read more

A heaping serving of delicious authenticity...if you're hungry for great down-home cooking, go no further than Maricopa AZ, and head over to Helen's Kitchen. This tiny building is crammed with editable awesome. Helen is always onsite working her magic in the kitchen. It's a family affair here and every bit of your experience will exude love. Helen is a connoisseur and her signature dishes, such as the tri-tip sandwich with "the works", is empirical evidence of this hard-earned title. It's a mound of succulent tri-tip beef smooched inside a fresh hoagie roll and topped off with melted cheese, mushrooms and a couple of other items that this reviewer cannot remember off-hand. I guess I need to go back and get another one! Not that I need another reason to head back to Helen's, but her breakfasts (empty bellies, please line up at the hostess station and report for duty - get "the kitchen sink" omelet and roll yourself out the door when you're done) are fantastic as well...and I didn't even cover dinner yet: the homemade buns are enough to bring us in, but of course the carefully crafted main dishes don't hurt either. Don't be surprised if an attentively kind lady saunters out of the back and asks you how you're doing - because that would be Helen, herself. It's obvious she takes pride in her scrumptious works, but she also is dedicated to her customer's pleasure and enjoyment. If the meal isn't perfect, she'll make you happy, but don't worry - it'll be perfect - every time. One more thing...be sure to check out the fresh baked goodness hunkered down in the pastry cooler to far end of the dining room. It is always filled with delightful icing shellacked joy. Helen's Kitchen WAS fabulous and Helen is a wonderful lady, but she was forced to close due to the new overpass construction here in Maricopa. The restaurants down here are lacking so losing Helen's was a huge loss. read more

Hello everyone I was there last week and I ordered my veggie omelette with a bowl of fruit it was so disappointing that's weird I don't even like mushroom but for some reason when I get there veggie omelette i love it and I feel like a 10 year old boy happy can I bring my family every time I just couldn't figure out why it tastes so different I asked Helen herself and she said because she didn't make it I thought that was so funny she is so sweet I love her. I think it's taste different because the waitress didn't hear me when I ask for egg white it wasn't bad just wasn't the same where I want to come in I didn't have that wow factor it was just disappointing I took 3 bites and I just didn't eat the rest of it I was just being a baby I was surprised they still charge me well it's a good place I love that place I love going there. I love Ellen I love the host and her son the waiter they're awesome it's Sunday Ellen told me to call and see to make sure she is there and she will make it she is so sweet they said she will not be there for a couple hours well I'm hungry now I will go there next week I'm going downstairs to make my wife breakfast read more

Helen and her staff are amazing to say the least. They catered our wedding and she accommodated our dietary needs to to T. They took a whole lot of weight off our shoulders by going beyond our expectations with the food quality and service. Our guests all loved the food. And the cake...can't forget the cake! Our hostess Lupe was absolutely AMAZING. The food was delicious, all authentic home style plates- large portions. The place is fairly small so if you have a large party, I recommend calling ahead of time to let them know. At breakfast there on Sunday morning. Nice place, friendly staff, decent food. Ordered typical breakfast meal two eggs over easy, bacon, toast and hash browns. Everything tasted as expected, with the exception of the hash browns (they were obviously frozen and reheated). I really love fresh hash browns so unfortunately I can only give 3 stars, and continue to eat breakfast at the Sunrise Cafe. read more

The tri-tip beef is really good ( one in our party thought it was a bit salty) Over all great value, but the tri tip plate is more expensive than the sandwich options but not nearly as good value. My wife ordered the chicken Marsala and got a quarter breast of chicken a dab of pasta and a heap of corn. Definitely not worth half the price they charged. By the way the buns they make are out of this world, just like the ones my grandmother used to make. read more

The place has very great food, low prices, and friendly people, but ot is small and has and ok bathroom but the rolls are good and have cinnamon butter in the rolls. one of the other problem is that it's only open for 3 days a week. I'd say it's worth going to. read more
