They were once on someones nose and out of his cases of retro-specs Michael has styles for everyone. If you had to reread that, you did not misread, Michael delivers a unique service of eye-dressing. A qualified optician who can "expertly fit all types of lenses to your own prescription" to any frame you pick. So long as your prescriptions no older than 2 years old. I know the eye-dresser through the Granny Would Be Proud fairs and Michael like clockwork is at one each month with a spectacular spectacle of specs. From as far back as your mum can remember to our most contemporary vintage source, the 1990's. I picked a 1960's NHS frame possibly the best decision I made since my first opticians appointment. Mostly for me the delight is in reusing something which otherwise had little other use, other than maybe being worn without lenses... However that is another rant. My specs look great and feel great! That is why my eyes feel great and look better than they have since I was 13. The Eyedresser offers great service, and decent vintage products at very affordable prices and no hassle worrying if you'll look like a granny!

If you receive NHS vouchers you get a massive discount and there is usually a two for one deal on glasses over £69. The lady in here was kind enough to screw my glasses back together for free after one of the lenses fell out.

Oh wow...what a perfect way to spend a Saturday!…read more Being half way through my transplant journey, I've been stuck in a bit of a rut and not felt like myself for a long time. I look in my wardrobe and it's like it belongs to someone else. I live in black and in all honesty, I'm miserable. I don't recognise myself any more and it makes me really sad. I've met Hayley a few times and I'm not instantly drawn to people, but I love her! Her confidence and positive attitude completely fills any room she is in. What I needed was to meet someone like her to give me the kick up the backside I've been desperately needing - she did just that! We started in The Briggait attending a vintage fair which was so much fun. There were so many different stalls (as well as a cafe area and also an area to get a vintage inspired hairdo). There were so many items to choose from it did look a bit overwhelming to begin with but Hayley was fabulous! I found a gorgeous green necklace that I utterly love and a skirt that I really loved that sadly wasn't my size and that broke my heart. I was a bit nervous at first but Hayley helped me pick out colours, styles and patterns that I love which gave me inspiration as our journey continued! We then went to Once Upon A Tart for tea and scones (with fresh cream and jam) - all covered in the event price. It was lovely to sit down and get to know everyone a bit better. Oh, we also got really pretty tote bags each that contain delicious looking letter cookies (I'm going to guess they spell out vintage) and lots of information on vintage shops, events etc as well as the cutest pencil and notecards to take down any vintage inspired notes! We then headed to a few other vintage and charity shops. Although not vintage related, I picked up an amazing book on Ancient Greek Love Poems which I can't wait to read. As a Classicist, I love all that stuff! At our final stop...a 99p store I finally plucked up the courage to venture back into the old me and add a bit of colour to my life again! I got this gorgeous mustard skirt (with a white pattern detail) and a beautiful patterned peach scarf that has hints of mustard so it will work perfectly. I'm going to pair it with my plain white Paris slogan t-shirt and there we go, outfit complete!! 2 items for £1.98 - you honestly can't go wrong with that! Huge, huge thanks to Hayley for putting together such a well organised event and taking the time to look after us all. Hayley, you've really helped me remember that even though I'm going through a transplant journey and have an upcoming op, that I need to remember to be happy and take time for myself. Thanks for injecting some much needed colour back into my life. I can't wait for the next tour!!

And what an afternoon it was!…read more We met Hayley at the Briggait, where she greeted us with personalised goodie bags so lovely that some people were asking if she would sell them, too. And they didn't even know about the contents: not only did we get some leaflets from places we visited or would likely want to visit after the afternoon, but also a lovely little notebook with a pencil and Hayley's card on it, and home baked cookies with personalised little tags on them - I just loved mine so much that I haven't even opened it yet :) Tomorrow will be the day. After a nice little chat and some insider tips, we went to Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair, and with Hayley's kind help, we started to explore what the place has to offer. She really feels at home at this place and does not hesitate to share her ideas and help, and also has a very great and lovely taste - so ladies, if any one of you would just like to try something new, go and book a place in the next styling tour now! I found a lot of little treasures, and gladly brought some of them with me: an Irish celtic looking necklace, a lovely summer dress and an evening dress that just cost five pounds, unbelievable! I also found a lovely seventies dress that I must have worn in a previous life as well, but unfortunately past life me had too much of a sophisticated taste for present me to be able to afford it, so I had to leave it for good. Then we went to Once Upon a Tart and had a really lovely chat with the ladies over a nice cup of tea, scones and cream and planned the rest of the evening. After then, we visited City Retro Fashion, Barnardos (where I got a matching pin for my newly found summer dress) and Vintage Guru, all places worth going back to for a little hunt. They don't have a lift though, that would be my one gripe with the place, but adult clothes in normal and plus sizes are situated on the ground floor and there's a huge variety to choose from.

This shop is now closed, what a shame was a fantastic shop…read moreand always had a great selection of clothes for all shapes and sizes and all occassions too. Was brilliant for holiday clothes or a top for a night out. Staff were always very pleasent and the shop had a brilliant layout. Most of the time the shop was very tidy. Such a shame to see this shop go, it is very much missed in Clydebank.

Perhaps not, this is a question that would and will enter your head if you went to Brown Jack's for your next pair of lenses. Its gourmet lenses, although price is not one of the benefits here. Specs might just be pretty expensive a necessity because the only place I have seen them cheaper is Tesco Opticians.

Next I need a Draught Excluder brass or chrome, chrome please to match the Octopus hooks and the Yale lock that I bought from you last week, that is £1.99 what a bargain it comes with four screws. Wait a minute what if it is two long I forgot to bring my Hacksaw and I am heading straight to my Sons who's Hall I am decorating by the way, no worries says the young whipper snapper we have one here for £1.30 it is a done deal I do not have to got back home. All of these goodies for £6.28 and I did not have to trail half way across the City to one of our biggest DIY outlets. The irony is that when I get there the Draught Excluder fits perfectly, any one want a small Hacksaw?

I am not someone who complains or writes reviews but I have rec'd very poor service from Glasgow…read moreAudio which was either dishonesty or incompetence and an attempt to rip me off. I had a problem with my projector (flickering image) and it was later discovered that all that was needed was a new cable. I called Glasgow Audio to repair the projector and was told the callout would be £65 and this would be credited if I had to buy something. I went ahead (big mistake!). They then told me I needed a new bulb at £249 plus £65 callout on top despite what I had been told earlier. I searched online and found a bulb for £130. I asked for the product code of the bulb which they wouldn't give me but instead offered to waive £65 callout which they had initially offered anyway. After taking £110 from my card they then told me my projector could not be fixed and suggested I buy a new projector at their starting price for £799!! I went to the shop and took my projector back as I was suspicious. Checked with a different cable and it worked perfectly. They are not refunding me. If they were competent engineers they would have found the problem as I managed to solve it myself - it was simply a loose connection. Either incompetence or dishonesty!! AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! I asked for a refund but they refused and offered me a £45 credit note so that they can try and rip me off on something else which I declined!!
