From the owner: Seit nun mehr 45 Jahren gibt es den Studentenclub Bärenzwinger in Dresden…read more Generationen von Studenten und Jugendlichen sind hindurchgegangen, haben getanzt und gelauscht, gefeiert und getrauert, getrunken und diskutiert sowie gelacht und geweint. Vieles hat sich im Laufe der Zeit getan. Strukturelle Veränderungen blieben nicht aus. Aus dem einstigen FDJ-Studentenclub ist einer der ältesten und schönsten Studentenclubs Dresdens geworden. Räume wurden neu erschlossen und mussten wieder abgegeben werden - 2006 wurde im Hof ein Schallschutzschirm installiert, um nun die schönste überdachte Open Air Location Dresdens zu sein. Die Schäden der Hochwasser 2002 und 2013 konnten dank zahlreicher Helfer und Spender behoben und schnell konnte der normale Betrieb wieder aufgenommen werden. Immer waren und sind es die Mitglieder des Studentenclub Bärenzwingers, die Veranstaltungen planen und durchführen und so das einzigartige Flair des Hauses prägen.

Cute little bar/restaurant a short walk across the river…read more The food was incredible! I found Red Rooster on trip advisor when I typed in "oldest bar in Dresden". We only went for a drink and to check it out. But when I went to the bathroom I walked by the kitchen and poked my head in, what the chef was cooking up looked and smelled incredible! All 5 of us ordered a dish. Every single entrée was amazing. Best food I've had in Germany. The chef came to our table to see if we liked everything, we asked him what was in the cucumber dill salad (it was amazing) and with his thick German accent he told us the ingredients and how to make it. This guy can cook! And he was really nice. I seriously want to go back this morning to eat breakfast but they don't open until 5pm! About the bar. Great vibe. Very cute and helpful bar tender, she was great, fast, we always had a beer in front of you! Only bad thing, I hate the smell of cigarette smoke and it's a smoking bar. I'd of eaten outside but it was cold! It's an awesome place if you want to smoke indoors. Great find in Dresden! A MUST for food not just a drink.

Cool! I'm the first English review! I'm always up for a good…read moreburger and we stumbled across this place on our way back from a bus tour of Dresden. The menu outside looked promising so we went in. The decor is very modern and cozy. We were seated and immediately offered English menus. I can read German but having an English menu speeds things up and I don't have to translate for anyone else. The burger list is impressive. They go from plain hamburger all way to Bison. I looked through the offerings and the list of ingredients for each. The Chivito's mix of ingredients really caught my eye. Being 3 strips of beef fillet though, is it still a burger? I decided to go for it anyway and I also got a side of the home made red onion rings in beer batter. When the food arrived it looked great! After taking some pics I dug into the onion rings. Awesome! Definitely not some frozen crap with that horrible cornbread coating. No, these were perfectly fried, beer battered rings. The accompanying sour cream sauce was a perfect compliment for them. Then I got to the "burger". I was worried that the meat would be tough and that when I took a bite the whole strip would come out and the burger would fall apart. This was not the case the meat was so tender that you could cut it with a fork. It was very easy to eat and the flavour was phenomenal. My wife doesn't really like to much on her burger so she just got the cheeseburger. She let me finish hers off after she got full. One of my biggest complaints about burgers in Europe is that they are all overcooked. That was not the case with this burger. I could see that it was pink in the middle and I knew this would be a good burger. I took a bite and was rewarded with a nice, tender, juicy, flavorful burger that can only be had when the burger is cooked a perfect medium rare. Overall, this was a very good meal and experience. The wait staff was very pleasant and attentive. The next I am in Dresden I will definitely eat here again.
