Hello Food is the Chinese takeaway option at the University of Auckland. It's been open for years. It has passably ok made-to-order meals. I have never gotten food poisoning from it. Those are the positive things I have to say about Hello Food, and save it from a one-star review.
Honestly, though. Hello Food is sub-par even for "Chinese" food. It's your standard food-court layout - buckets in a bain-marie full of sickeningly over-sweetened, barely luke-warm gloppy fluorescent mess. When was it made? Nobody knows. Regardless of what you order, the meat will inexplicably appear to be made up of string glued together with fat. The vegetables will somehow get coated with fat-laden sauce which renders them leaden and basically inedible. You are going to need to ask for chopsticks, because the tines of the plastic fork they hand you by default just aren't going to hold out, and you'll inevitably go hunting-and-picking at the noodles in the dish.
Don't go there. Please don't go there. It's not as good as you remember it being, and that memory is saying to you 'hey, it wasn't -that- bad, it'll do given that I'm in a rush'. You're literally 800m from the city. Hell, even in a rush - the kebab place is just there. Just say no. read more
