Wonderful organization- does so much for the community- Helps both young and old. Gives people hope, food, warm clothes and a smile. Needs volunteers- and funds for staffing for pick up and delivery trucks, etc. Organization has a positive impact on people from all walks of life! read more

My review is on donating some items in person. Positive: Once on the property, one man directed where I was to drive towards the donation area. At the donation area, another man greeted me, asked what I was donating, and once I opened the door of my vehicle removed the items without any assistance from me. Negative: The entry and exits are not marked. I had to go around the block once because of the way certain vehicles were parked prevented me from safely entering the property. As I was exiting, I noticed lots of what seemed to be "junk" vehicles parked anywhere, which made the exit more difficult. read more

I posted on Facebook Marketplace that I was giving away some items--a couch, bed, chair, etc. for free. A woman messaged me suggesting I donate to her charity, and provided pictures of the pamphlet they have with all the information. She was great at answering my messages (messaging me back at midnight to confirm she is coming the next day, and confirmed the next day as well). She and a guy came in and took all our excess furniture off our hands! We had a great experience! She was really friendly. I will add that she didn't take a chair because it had animal hair on it. I am sure if I asked her she can help transport it to a dumpster she would agree. P.S., this organization helps serve many people--some of which are Black. This i a great time to donate since this charity is a way of supporting the Black Lives Movement. Due to COVID-19, a lot of companies, such as Salvation Army, aren't open. This place is an absolute joke of human beings who truly don't care to help the community. If I could rate it a 0 I would. Customer service is worse than any company I've ever used and their attitudes are about sky high. DO NOT DONATE TO THEM! go to a place like habitat for humanity where they actually care about helping people. Again, avoid these rude bullies like the Plague! Also they don't go in your house with booties on. I don't allow shoes in my house due to white carpet. I'm shocked these people can get a paycheck. read more

The men who came to pick up my items were so rude. For starters they wouldn't take them due to the dust and cobwebs according to them(I had to ask what was wrong with them about 5 times before I got an answer besides the guy saying "I can choose what we take and don't take"), but when I called the actual store/donation line; the person on the phone said they take things like that all the time. She asked me to send her pictures and she's get back to me, that hasn't happened yet either. I'm very disappointed in this group of people. I will NEVER be donating to them or recommending them to anyone. This was just a pain. read more

I recommended Helping Hand Mission to a good friend of mine. The men gave HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Ungrateful, Rude BULLIES are the words that fit the description of the drivers that came to pick up the furniture they donated on yesterday. They were the most impolite, offensive, discourteous, abrasive, ungrateful people. I will NEVER recommend them again and my friends will NEVER DONATE to them again. They stated they have never felt so offended when donating to any organization. It was so bad, they had to ask them to get out of their home. I am so disappointed. read more

A major caveat - I've never had dealings with most of the operations of Helping Hand, but I had a good experience and am giving my review based on that. After quite some time looking to sell my extra mattress on Craigslist, then calling around to see about donating it, I finally came across Helping Hand Mission in Cary. Not only do they accept mattresses (in NC they are required to perform a special cleaning that means several places like Goodwill won't accept mattresses) but they came to pick it up! They arrived in a medium sized moving truck promptly, carried the mattress and box spring I had to donate out and into the truck, provided me with a receipt for tax purposes, and were done in less than 10 minutes. They were friendly and easy to deal with. My impression is that Helping Hand Mission is a well run organization that you should consider next time you have something to donate. read more

This place is the worst place. I understand GoodWill is evil. I would rather give my stuff to GoodWill. If you see anything were they are asking for anything I would say ignore. They will most likely not give it to the pour, but sell it for metal recycling. Dont believe me. Please do not load your stuff up for them. Drive by and take a look first. My husband suddenly passed away while sitting on the couch from a heart attack. I really wanted to get rid of the couch that day as I couldn't bear to look at it. The woman answering the phone was incredibly kind and it was picked up by six p.m. that day. The men were very respectful and it was incredibly helpful to my shock and stress to remove the item. A wonderful group of people with fantastic hearts run Helping Hand Mission. They were able to drive to my house and pick up my donation, as well as provide me a tax receipt without ever having to leave! We just moved and I went to Helping Hand to scout for many things. I spend half a day going through mountains (literally mountains) of stuff. I picked up small planter base on wheels, box of yarns. When I went on the back I found many broken Christmas decorations. I spent hours sifting through broken glass but was excited to gather a small tub of it. Christmas balls, candy canes, Christmas towels and some lights. I imagined how happy my little daughter would be to see it, to decorate the tree, it would be a perfect Christmas! I came to the register with all of this. No, I'm not asking for it to be given to me for free, although it would be nice. I saw many people passing the register with carts of stuff, free. What Ive got was an evil eye, and they took away the planter base saying they not going to sell it to me, they need it. They took away candy canes, saying they need it too for their yards, they looked at the tub of Christmas stuff and said that they made that tub for themselves and I cannot have it. When I started protesting, saying that I just spent lots of time going through broken glass to gather all of it, they say, fine, it's $60. I cannot afford it for $60 right now. If I could, I would go to regular store. I told them it's too much, I can't pay that much, they laughed. I left empty handed, crying. I left crying read more

They are not that friendly on the phone with people. I asked them one single question. " Do you all offer community service?" Instead they keep telling me to come in but I just wanted an answer to my question. I asked two people and not the right response from either. I never said I wanted to start today. Would not donate to this place anymore! I would recommend using any other donation establishment before using this one. The workers are very rude and the owner Sylvia is also. The establishment is very unorganized and junky. When dropped donations off the owner and workers were very arrogant on two different occasions. I have donated to this place twice items in excellent and new condition. I saw her interview on TV and thought well perhaps the first time they were just having a ruff day so tried again the second occasion, well needless to say they were still unprofessional. Leaving the impression the TV appeal appears to be something for the eye of the camera. Based on the experiences I encountered I would not recommend taking donations to this facility. I would recommend however to locate another facility in or around the community that operates on the basis and goals of helping others all around; to make donations to where the donations are making it to community/individuals that can use the items. read more

They took my old fridge and dishwasher from my second-floor condo when nobody else was willing to come upstairs to get them--Salvation Army and the rest will only take them from the ground floor.
