I have no clue who that Sarah S. person is on here writing a review of nonsense. Maybe some of it is true such as Bonnie's son and his legal troubles (I have no idea). Maybe what they make each year with that business is true... I don't know. However, what is not true is prices. Helping Hands is definitely top on my list of places to shop at low-as-they-go prices. Clothing is $1.00 unless otherwise stated (hoodies and jackets are $2 and I think $3). Prom dresses are $10.00 and up. Etc. Etc. Yes, there are no prices marked on (hardly) anything. Furniture does normally have prices marked. As far as this not helping the community... we live in a world of capitalism. You know, something the majority of southerners support. So therefore, if they really are making $750,000.00 in donations and not "doing anything with it", then good for them. Because guess what? They are doing something. They are making clothing available at very reasonable prices. If your house burns down and they give you free stuff (as the Sarah review stated), then there you go. That's helping the community. Selling whatever variety of things they have in there at very low prices help the community as well. It certainly helps us poor folks out. Remember, all clothing is $1.00 unless otherwise stated. ;) Last time I checked, they actually run their own church now at the old skating rink. Yeah, sure... churches evade taxes... I get it. But at least the spiritual well-being of many out there is doing well... right? So is that not helping? ;) I also want to add that ALL of the staff have always been nice and friendly towards me. My first time visiting was last Satuurday, April 13, 2024. This is a very nice, clean, friendly place to go for good upscale clothing for decent a decent price. I bought a bag of clothes for $8.00. Very nice clothes. But they also have beautiful furniture and knick knacks for decorating your home. The staff is also very friendly. I highly recommend!!! Can't wait to go back. read more

08/27/2022 I saw a negative review here but I most certainly dont agree or understand their complaint. Helping hands is a great thrift store. It is definitely a bargain paradise. The clothes are all just $1 and the jackets are like 3 and maybe some 5 im not totally sure. I go in there every time I get to go home to look around. Bonnie is a really hard working lady and gives a lot back to the community. She runs the church that is in the old skating rink and does a lot for the people in the community. I have seen her help people that come into the store on more than one occasion and I know she does a lot through the church she runs. I would highly recommend Helping Hands. read more

I find this business to be a little scary. I used to go in here and get my kids clothes for $1 each. Jackets were $3 each. Now, jackets are up to $5-7 each--about what I find them in Walmart on clearance. I can still get some nice clothes but there are also some junky clothes in here also. The lades are so rude. I have heard Bonnie chew out parents over their kids. I never go anymore because I never know what price an item will be. They don't list prices on anything. You have to ask and sometimes it is way more than I want to pay. I once overheard the owner of this store Bonnie state that this store brought in $750K a year. That's right....getting really close to a million dollars a year yet tell me what they do with it. Everything they get is free. Everything. Our church alone donated a box van almost full of leftover yard sale items to here. The store is packed with a room to the side full of donated stuff yet I never heard of them doing much. I have heard of people going in there whose house has burned down and them getting free clothes, etc but that's not saying much considering this place is giving them free stuff. You don't hear of that often but you do hear of it. Other than that, this place does nothing. Occasionally, they have a free meal for their customers but they just started that. I once heard the owner talk about having to bond her son out of jail and pay for his legal woes. This place is getting toward a million dollars a year yet they do nothing with it. Nothing. Give away a few free items here and there that they get for free but nothing else and that is disturbing. Although they do pay a few employees (Bonnie's son and daughter in law are 2 of them), the vast majority of their help is people doing community service so they get plenty of free helpo. It is not ok to make this kind of money and do nothing with it for the good of the community considering this is a non-profit. read more
