We had a couch, loveseat and TV we wanted hauled away. We had an appointment set up with Junkinator who called when they were on their way and said $300.00. I said no thanks, that is too much. 800gotjunk the same thing they were on their way and called without seeing what was being removed and said $400. I didn't want them either. Jimmy from Jerome's had given us Alan's phone number and I called him and within a couple of hours he showed up, took our stuff. He was so professional, friendly. I called him again to pick up a bed. He texted, communicated. If I move or need anything moved I will definitely call him. His prices are so reasonable. It is so nice to do business with someone who is honest and not trying to overcharge. I am beyond happy with the service. read more

Where do I start? 1. They where to arrive at 9am did not show the driver did call us and informed us that they where going to be about 15 min late but did not arrive tell 935am. 2.we took a picture of the things we wanted to move so they would send the right truck. They sent a truck that had stuff still in it so needless to say everything may not fit but we thought hell they are movers they do this for a living so who knows. 3. As soon as they picked up the first item they started arguing about how they where going to move it, this happened the whole time during the move. 4. They did not use proper equipment with most of the items such as straps when they moved the refrigerator so they where banging everything in to the walls. 5. Dropped and broke a large dresser that was from a very expensive set. 6. They dropped a hand crafted bar and broke it rather then rolling it down the ramp and use piano dollies they tried to man handle it and dropped it. 7. It took them 5 hours to complete the move because they where arguing, breaking things had to keep calling there boss with the issues, had to do 2 loads when it should have only been 1 and take 2 hours or less. 8. 1 of the guys made friends with someone who was moving at the storage place and he decided he would have a sip of the guys beer. 9. Spoke to Allen the boss on what they planned on doing to compensate us for our losses he says we did not charge you for the move and claims 6 hours. We explained to him that it did not take 6 hours it took 5 but should have never taken that long it should have been 2 hours or less because his employees where definitely not movers and the whole truck was not utilized and his guys did not know how to load a truck along with all the time on the phone with the boss a large amount of time was lost. The dresser was from a set we explained to him that also has a very large mirror that attaches to it that we now have no use for and are set is not a set. We gave Allen one more call to find a resolution to the issue and he says the free move was good enough. I guess we will be showing up to court. I would never recommend this company to anyone ever. We bought a sofa table "blooper" from Jerome's, and our sales person recommended Alan for the delivery. Alan was very responsive to our calls, was able to fit the delivery into our schedule, and quoted us a very reasonable price. On the day it was to be delivered, I got a call from the driver (Mario?) regarding the condition of the piece. He mentioned some scratches and dings on it and wanted to know if we wanted to go ahead with the delivery. I let him know that it was a "blooper" and that I knew it had some marks on it already, but didn't know if any more marks had been created since we bought it. I told him to go ahead and bring it over and that I wouldn't hold him responsible for any scratches that I hadn't seen before. He let me inspect it before they unloaded it, and it looked fine to me. I really appreciated the call from them while they were picking it up at the warehouse to give me the heads up on its condition. Not many people would be that courteous or conscientious. was referred to helping hands by a friend and because of their reasonable prices. They were 30 minutes late but I didn't care at all because the two movers were INCREDIBLE!!! They worked their ass off today for almost 5 hours, it was my Moms house so she made them move some heavy stuff multiple times and they were so nice to her (my mom is almost 80). They made sure everything was wrapped and protected, they kept asking me how I wanted things moved and where, they never stopped for a break and now I will never move without them again. I used "Helping Hands Moving and Delivery" after buying a sale item at Jerome's that they would not deliver themselves. They recommended this outfit. I called Alan and scheduled the delivery and was given the standard 4-hour window for delivery the next day. Fine. Problem is on delivery day the window came and went with no item. I called Alan after the delivery was nearly 1 hour late and was told they were delayed by Jerome's but were on their way. They finally showed up 90 minutes after the window they gave me closed. Stuff happens, I get it. But when you set a window for a customer where you expect them to be home and available, then you don't make the window yourself- I think a phone call is in order. To me that is just standard business courtesy. I guess I just sometimes expect too much. That being said, the item did get here in one piece and was even placed and tested by the crew. No problems there. They seemed to be good guys. read more

My original delivery w/Jerome's didn't work out; truck was too big & drivers couldn't maneuver it up the driveway so customer service let me know that later in the week I'd get my delivery with a small truck. The very next day Alan calls me, we talk over what will happen and shows up well within my 4 hour window. I was really grateful having come across him and Robert that was working with him. They got my old furniture out and my new stuff in, assembled and tested. I'd definitely recommend! read more

I run a mattress and furniture store and hired this service to help with a large, expensive order. The delivery guys were unprofessional, damaged the goods, left the job without assembling it properly, demanded extra money from my customer, and then hounded me for more money too until I blocked their number. I had to send 2 more guys out to completely undo and redo their work...the damage was so bad from the negligence in the first place we now have to buy more goods to replace the damaged parts. These guys are thugs and shouldn't be in business. read more

We bought a floor model dining set from Jerome's and was told this was the company they contracted with to deliver clearance items. Drivers came, dropped off the set on a busy move-in day and were in a hurry to leave (wife had to insist for a receipt for the $90 cash delivery fee). Problem was that there were multiple new nicks in the leaflet that, unfortunately for us, we only noticed a week after the move. Called the moving company owner, Alan, and he was both unsympathetic and accusatory, saying that we probably caused the dents ourselves in the week since our move. Seriously? That's the best you can come up with? In the process of hashing the issue out with Jerome's, as to me they're equally responsible for recommending this shady business. Would not use this company if I were you, and if you still do, at the very least inspect the items carefully and refuse delivery if there are new damages. read more

I was given a very reasonable rate and they were out here the next day. The whole experience was smooth and it was a pleasure to help out a small business owner. We bought a couch at Jerome's and when it was being delivered, the delivery people (not Helping Hands) said it wouldn't fit through our front door and didn't even try. My wife asked them to try and tilt it different ways and they just said "No" and left. They had the couch in the street and didn't take it any further We were very disappointed and upset. We went to Jerome's and spoke to their manager and he gave us Alan's business card and said "If these guys can't get it done it can't be done". My wife called Alan and scheduled the delivery the next day. His team (I believe the lead was named Stan and he had a coworker) arrived during the window they specified, called before they showed up, very professional. They unwrapped the couch brought in the cushions and then It took them less than 30 seconds to get the couch in the front door, just fantastic! They were courteous and very professional... they were in a hurry because they had a hard deadline after us but they were very careful with our couch and we couldn't be more pleased. Oh, also... Helping Hands was $10 cheaper than the company that Jerome's picked! read more

Bottom line with this company.....they damage furniture and don't take responsibility. Telling me my move was free of charge was compensation enough. They made a 2 hour job 5 hours because of damage, talking to boss, arguing with each other and not moving! I personally picked up items and handed to one of the movers while the other just stood there and watched me. Time is money and I had everything ready to go plus helped load their truck. Very disappointed at the whole situation and the lack of responsibility from the owner himself. I'd give zero stars if I could. read more

After purchasing two living room sets from Jerome's, each going to separate homes, we inquired about moving out old furniture from one home to the other. The sales person immediately recommended Alan from Helping Hands, whom we called that same day. We scheduled an appointment with a week's notice and received a pick-up window. The day of the delivery we called Alan to confirm and he didn't remember who we were. He then said his team would arrive that day before 4 PM. After calling him several times patiently waiting for their arrival (and Alan never returning our calls), they called at 8 PM. We refused their service, after having wasted an entire day waiting for them. We do NOT recommend them, and we will be calling Jerome's tomorrow to cease recommending them to their clients. Today could have been a very stressful day but thankfully Mr Alan and his staff at helping hands made the transition from my old apartment to my new one an easy and fun experience! I was very impressed with the level of professionalism and efficiency the staff demonstrated. Friendly staff and owner who made his service affordable. They truly put their customer first and take pride in the level of service provided. Staff works well together and they even helped me to set up my furnitures in its respective places. Purchased our sofa sectional from Jerome's on Saturday with the promise of delivery on Tuesday between 3:30 - 6:00p. Got a call after 5p that their truck broke down so they wouldn't be able to deliver it that day. I called Jerome's and the unit hadn't even been picked up yet. If it wasn't picked up they knew before 3:30 that they weren't delivery it that day. What kind of customer service is that and how can Jerome's continue to use these jokers. It is now Wednesday, our couch has been picked up around 2p and it is 5pm and still no delivery. I'm thinkin' I'm not going to see my new couch and seriously thinking of denying the delivery and getting my money back. I suggest to ask friends or find your own delivery service and not use this company. read more

What a disaster. I had called about a week in advance and scheduled a move for a Tuesday at 3:00pm. I adjusted my work schedule in order to accomdate the move, etc. I recieved a few calls on moving day letting me know that they were having trouble with their truck and that they were running behind, but that they would be there. 4:45pm finally rolls around and I get a call confirming that they needed to cancel and reschedule for the following day. Thankfully I had one more day to move, but what if I hadn't? I'd have been SOL. I rescheduled for 4:00pm the next day, Wednesday. 4:00pm comes and goes; no phone call. At 4:15pm, I call them, and I'm informed that they need to push it back to 6:00 or 6:30. I asked why no one bothered to follow up with me and let me know, and Will lets me know that "he's not the owner, he's just the driver," and refers me to the owner, Alan. I call Alan who informs me that he wouldn't be the one calling me since he's not the one perfoming the move. Super helpful. 6:30 rolls around and still no update. I call Will and Alan, both straight to voicemail. At 7:20pm I recieve a call from Will that they will be at my apartment in roughly 30 minutes. At this point I was pretty fed up and just ready to get it over with. But true to form, they are even further delayed and finally show up to my apartment around 8:30pm... Once there, the movers were pretty glacial. I understand that they'd likely had a long day, but if I'm paying you by the hour and I don't have much to move, I would expect (especially given everything I'd gone through at that point) that they would be motivated to get the job done. I actually had to start taking things out of my apartment and into the hall myself, just to get the process moving faster. And I had to go outside to check on them frequently, as they would "disappear" for extended periods of time. To make matters worse, they did not move the furniture properly. They didn't use moving blankets or wrap the glass on my coffee table separately from the table itself, etc. They just threw everything into the back of a Uhaul. My table, couch, etc. are definitely scuffed. When all was said and done, they left my new apartment close to 11:00pm... I was exhausted and extremely frustrated. I didn't even recieve so much as an apology. Alan should have followed up. I am extremely disapointed in that process, and I will not be using "Helping Hands" again. No offense to the movers, I'm sure they're lovely guys. But Alan needs to manage his business more effectively, hire additional employees, invest in relaible equiptment, etc. It was really, really bad. read more

I use to work as a delivery man for a company very similar to this and I would never dream of treating somebody else's customers like this. I bought a couch at Jerome's. Before I purchase the couch I asked to make sure that it could be delivered that same day. If it would not have been able to be delivered that day I would not have bought it because I would not be in town later. They promised me that it could be delivered that day not only that they said it would be delivered in a timely fashion. I bought the couch and they said the delivery man would call me in 15 minutes 2 hours later I still had not received a call so I called Jerome's back they gave me Alan's number. I then tried calling Alan several times with no results. So I called the store back. They said they would call Alan. I then tried Allen again a few more times and finally he picked up the phone. He told me that the guys that had my couch we're up in Oceanside and that I would be there next stop this was at 5 p.m. At 10 p.m. the couch still had not been delivered and I had not been called. I tried calling Alan again he did not answer I tried calling him five or six times and finally I received a text from him saying that he would call me back in a few minutes because he was busy delivering a couch at that momen. An hour later I still have not received a call back from Alan so I then again repeatedly tried to call Alan. I finally got a call from the driver who had my couch on his truck. He said he had not been called by Alan all day about my delivery. He was going about his deliveries not realizing that Allen had told me that I would be his next stop after Oceanside. He was 7 minutes away from me when he called. The delivery guys were great they delivered it they put it exactly where I wanted it and they left with their payment. The problem is this delivery company is more than just their delivery men. Their delivery men were amazing. Allen was horrible. Their customer service because of Allen was horrible. Their communication because of Allen was horrible. So altogether Allen was horrible. If Alan is not the owner of this company whoever does own this company needs to think about removing Allen from his position. if Alan is the owner of this company I hope this company does not last much longer. I also hope Jerome stopped using them because they will start losing customers. I just moved here to California this was my first Furniture purchase while here. I have a whole apartment to furnish. I will not be going back to Jerome's to do it if this is who they use for their customer deliveries. Altogether Allen screw this up for Jerome's and for this moving company. Overall Allen is the weak Link in all of this. read more

I called Alan about having them deliver some furniture for me. Alan, told me that they would be to my place between the hours of: 1:30pm-5pm on this past Tuesday. I said that sounded good and I'll be ready for them. I was golfing that morning and I get a call from their driver at 10:50am saying they are at my place and wondering where I'm at. At 11:30am I got a call from Alan called me and wanted to ask me when I can get to my place to accept the delivery. I was at least a hour away. I told him that I could be there in 1 1/2 hours. He then asked, "What are my guys going to do for that time?" He also told me that they work their way North to South. He doesn't think that they have time that day to double back and deliver my furniture. I told him I expect my delivery by 5pm. He told me he would call me back after he checks with delivery driver. He called me back and told me that his guys are going to wait for me to get home. I got home around 12:45pm and they weren't there. I texted Alan and told him that I was home and they can deliver anytime. They ended up showing up around 1:15pm. The reason I'm giving them 4 stars is due to the fact that the delivery driver and helper we really nice and friendly. They put my furniture right where I needed it and even tighten up the legs on my chair with their tools. They were really professional. They only accept cash and I got no receipt for my delivery. I called to have my furniture delivered from San Marcos to Santee for next day delivery and I was given an awesome price! The delivery crew was super helpful and even had trouble getting my huge couch through the door but they didn't give up and were creative enough to get it in!! I am so happy! They had to carry all the furniture upstairs and used moving blankets to protect my furniture with the staircases and every corner! Super happy with the A++ service! read more

Failure to meet expectations. Jerome's Furniture in San Marcos outsources some of their delivery work (clearance items) to these guys... maybe they should find a different service provider? While in the store on day of purchase, after the salesperson handed me Helping Hands' card, I called and spoke with (owner/operator?) Alan to set up delivery of two small lightweight pieces. I was flexible and gave a wide range of delivery times over the next week, Alan suggested the very next day... great, so I thought... what followed next was two days of frustration and the occasional lie. Multiple confirmed delivery windows (some by Alan, some by the Drivers) were all missed. Alan blamed a "new crew," a "full schedule," and "a south to north delivery pattern," as reasons for the failure to deliver. His deceit (his team was not "new"), inept scheduling (three missed windows, all of which they provided!) and poor communication (blaming others for bad logistics) impacted our schedule (we had to reschedule appointments and events both days). After I started to get noisy about it, he offered $25 off delivery charge to "make it right." Then "half off," when I wasn't satisfied. Ultimately, he waived the entire delivery charge (why I chose 3-stars despite the many problems) and the furniture arrived (late) the following day. I still tipped/paid the delivery men, thanking them for their time. All of these problems were of Helping Hands' own creation and a very basic job became a multiple day headache. read more
