I'm incredibly frustrated with the handling of my child's situation at Henderson Hammocks. My son, who is autistic, was set to start kindergarten this year, and the entire process has been a nightmare. I initially contacted the school back in March to ensure my son's RBT could accompany him. Ms. Rosado confirmed this arrangement. However, when I started the process in June, the key contact was on vacation, and I was shuffled between different people. Despite explaining that I had rearranged my other children's schedules to accommodate my son, the communication remained poor, and I constantly had to follow up. After numerous emails and two visits to the school, I was told that I would have to wait until the school year begins to see how things would work out. With only two weeks left before school starts, I was finally informed that the school cannot accommodate my son's needs after therapy sessions and cannot help with safe transport to my car. What's most frustrating is that if I don't actively call or contact them, they don't get back to me. I have had to be relentlessly proactive just to get any response, and even then, the support has been woefully inadequate. This last-minute decision to drop my child, along with the impact on my other two children, is unacceptable. The school was aware of my child's needs from the start, yet the support was consistently inadequate. The management has been poor, and the overall experience has been deeply disappointing. My son has been attending Henderson since October 2023. Transitioning him from his previous school was a little nerve wracking because he was in his previous school for the past 4 years. The school staff and teachers at Henderson made sure my son had a seamless transition. We are all very happy. The school excels in creating a conducive learning environment, dedicated teachers, and a well-rounded curriculum that prepares students for future success. Regarding a previous review, my son's class size is no different than his previous traditional school at HCPS. I have had different interactions with the principal and the front office and have never had any unpleasant interactions. Obviously, I don't want to take validation from the previous reviewer but in my eyes that is far from my experience. Since my son has been enrolled at Henderson, they had one "Lock in" which is very different than a "lockdown". I actually appreciate that they take those type of issues seriously and just not brush off security concerns. I prefer my son to have 100 lockdowns and lock ins because of an abundance of caution than to have a tragedy happening. The only negative situation I had was at the beginning with carline being such a hassle, but I have learned to time school drop off and I'm in and out in 15mins tops. Pro tip: they open their carline at 7:15 and is usually very comfortable from 7:15-7:45. read more

My son, niece and nephew have all attended Henderson for nine years each. My son is now in the Dual enrollment program in High School with A's and B grades. Had it not been for the Henderson's curriculum and their push for college classes this would have not been possible. My niece has been accepted to USF on a full scholarship and my nephew has now opened his own company and is very successful. The safety of the kids has NEVER been questioned. I prefer for there to be lockdowns, versus an actual tragedy to happen at the school. I know that when a lockdown does happen, I will be getting an update later that day with an explanation. Safety, curriculum, respect, responsibility is taught and expected from both the parents and the staff. Front office is always on top of the kids, is always helpful and concerned with the children's wellbeing, they reach out to families in need, families who might need a helping hand discreetly. After working with the school on three separate students' lives, I can honestly say that this school, the principal, and staff are invested in the students' academic life. By far the only school who is concerned on getting students ready for a career, trade school or college ready, we have experienced all three in our students lives. I highly recommend Henderson Hammock academically successful, memories are made, and staff actually cares. read more

If I can give this school a zero star I would. Kids are picked and chosen here. No one is treated the same. Staff all gossip. That energy they put in gossiping and talking about others they should put it into students. Give students the attention they need and maybe you wouldn't have so much issues and complains with students. No direction for children in this school its like a huge daycare with the kids operating it while adults gossip. Few good staffs and I can only count that with one hand which is sad. Do not take your child here unless you have money and can fully provide for your child cause they have zero sympathy for the less fortunate and they will show it. NO ONE WANTS TO WALK INTO A SCHOOL FEELING UNWANTED WITH UNPROFESSINAL PEOPLE LIKE I ONCE POINTED OUT TO MISS EVELYN AFTERCARE TEACHER. Confirmed by a teacher that was kicked out mid school because she finally had it and spoke up ( TEACHER WAS BEING BULLIED BY OTHER TEACHERS... LETS KICK ONE TEACHER OUT THATS BEING BULLIED TO SAVE THE BULLIES, KIDS EVEN SPOKE ABOUT THIS) . STOP THE GOSSIP AND FOCUS ON THE KIDS. My children have been going to this school since the doors have opened. There have certainly been ups and downs, especially with the turnover of principals and teachers. I've had experiences in other schools and the turnover is not much different. With something happening in the news everyday like school shootings or bomb threats, I would certainly rather have my child locked down in the school for safety rather than have the doors open for anyone to get in. I also understand that I am not going to get an immediate update since they are trying to investigate the situation, but know that I will receive an update as soon as possible. The current principal (Mrs. Ramnath) has been a joy compared to previous principals. I've spoken with her several times and I know that she cares about the students and their academic progress. read more

I want to say that I went to this school for 5 years, at first everything was okay for 3 to 4 years, but then suddenly they started having favoritism. They love elementary and 8th graders, but no 6th or 7th graders posted. They didn't even give middle schoolers field trips till last year. At first, I thought this school was perfect, but my brother showed me many things they did, and they covered it up. There was even a pedophile in the school AND NO PRINCIPAL FIRED HIM, he got a boner while calling one of the female students. If you wanna send your kid to this school, don't.
