Dr. Levin has been the family pediatrician since my daughter was born 17 years ago. He is knowledgable with great bedside manner. More recently, we've been going to Henderson Pediatrics pretty regularly since our son was born about a year ago visiting both the "sick" side for a few complications and the "healthy" side for regular follow up visits and vaccinations. The doctor is thorough with his examinations taking all vitals and inquiring about our son's history. He has given us plenty of invaluable tips and recommendations. We never leave with a questioned unanswered or uneasy about dealing with situations. The only complaint we have is that we have never been seen for our appointment less than 20 minutes after the scheduled time. We've waited an hour and fifteen minutes before. This can be explained by having an unpredictable number of patients showing up at the "sick" side of the clinic which I'm sure throws off the timing. Some obvious solutions for this problem is to loosen up the schedule times or possibly to staff with another doctor, if able. We've had no problems with the front office as far as billing or scheduling. The MAs do a good job for the most part. One of the MAs can inject a vaccination without any reaction from my son whatsoever. One once took a blood draw that caused my son to let out screams that could be heard in Reno. For our last appointment last week, there was no wait in the waiting room and we went straight to the exam room from the car. The clinic was clean and I saw employees wiping down everything regularly. Dr. Levin is worth the wait and I do recommend him for your child's care as long as you've taken a patience pill before you leave home.

Dr. Levin is both my daughters' pediatrician, and he is really fantastic. Upon moving here four years ago, we visited several pediatricians in town that I wasn't very impressed with. My oldest daughter has had open heart surgery and has doctors at Stanford - her Stanford based physicians are leaders in their respective fields, brilliant and truly amazing. Needless to say, I had a very difficult time finding high caliber doctors here at all -- let alone that I trusted with my daughter's complicated health issues. Dr. Levin has been excellent in my opinion, and I also find his support staff warm and friendly. I read some negative reviews on here about Henderson Pediatrics -- I'm thinking those may be in reference to another doctor out of this office. One time when Dr. Levin was on vacation, we did see another physician who was a female (I don't remember her name). She is a bit rough around the edges, but she's not who we typically see. I'd give Dr. Levin 5 stars and I'd definitely recommend him!!! However, I wouldn't give that high of rating to the other female doctor based on our brief encounter with her. That's how I came up with my "4" rating for this office. :)

I asked for a referral for an occupational therapist for my son, the first one they sent started texting me to see if we could go to their house at 6 or 7 pm for the therapy, no thank you. The second one, not in my network so I called back 14 days ago trying to see about getting a new referral. Since then, it's been a complete run around. "We will call Medicaid to get them to accept that therapist" the next day "I'm sorry I don't see anything in your chart about a referral, what is this for" the next day "the office manager will call you in 24 hours about this referral" and so on and so forth. Just called today to be told "the office manager actually won't be calling you because they are on vacation until April and the doctor your kid sees is also unavailable until April" even though we was supposed to have an appointment this morning. If you didn't want to service us anymore, it would have been much easier to just say that instead of giving me the run around for two entire weeks. Went to look for the picture from the day we received the referral to the place that isn't in our network and it looks like this has actually been going on for MORE than two weeks! I would have given one star but I actually like dr. Zagala and the way the care was given, the office staff, follow up visits and everything else just failed us truly.

As a healthy patient with lab readings all in the normal range, I didn't really find the need to go see him other than those yearly visits. All the other months I wasn't seeing him I still paid the $60 monthly fee which amounted to $720 a year for one annual physical and bloodwork. It wasn't really cost effective. Direct primary care sounds good in theory. But having a pay per month membership fee (as opposed to a patient paying only for the services that are used) makes it a costly proposition for those who are in good health. I was basically subsidizing the cost of the people who were more regular visitors, which is the same idea as insurance (albeit with a benefit of less paperwork and bureaucracy). With the few times I did visit Dr. Hawkes the office was friendly and professional. But I found that the practice wasn't a good fit for me. Not everything he was communicating to me was accurate to my situation and I disagreed with some of his views. I would totally recommend him though for a patient who needs help treating diabetes, heart issues or any other common conditions (that don't require a specialist). If a person needs guidance from a physician in losing weight, he is the ideal person to go see.
