Lazy work. We hired…read moreJose Arias of Bries to re-gravel our driveway and build a stone border around the adjacent flower bed. They cut corners in just about every way imaginable. We came home to discover they built the flower bed about 6 feet too short, ending in the middle of the parking space. But wasn't a misunderstanding; the flower bed already existed, and they were just putting a border around it. They literally ripped out two fully grown rose bushes and replanted them between our other shrubs to shrink the size of the flower bed and the amount of work they had to do. The roses are now dying. Meanwhile, the big project--regraveling the driveway--was barely done at all. They literally just washed the very sparse existing gravel and put it back down, with big patches of dirt. We complained, and Jose came back--and half-assed the job again. He put down a very small amount of new gravel--not nearly enough to cover the bare patches of the driveway--and extended the flower bed edging, but squared it off at the edge rather than follow the curve of the bed. The dying roses remained where they replanted them. Even after this second attempt, there are still weeds and still patches of bare gravel. It's clear Jose Arias is not going to do this job in any satisfactory manner. He already has my money but the least I can do is warn others not use this lazy, cut-corners, apathetic contractor.

Jose installed an ill-fitting toilet seat (even with the toilet brand given to him) and the chipped bathtub was painted in a color not matching the rest of the bathtub. In addition, Jose quoted extremely overpriced services as "deals" (other contractors quotes were far, far less). Jose also re-grouted the shower and stated it would not need to be grouted for at least another year. Four weeks later, Jose was contacted as the grout was starting to come off; however, Jose did not follow up to the messages. Due to this experience, I cannot recommend Jose Arias, and I would advise looking elsewhere for reliable and professional contractors who value customer satisfaction and stand by their work.

He had his guys come out the next day and repaired a broken vent base and addressed several areas of the roof that needed to be checked. While the tiles are still intact, I was told that in the near future, a new roof would be needed b/c the tiles are brittle and easily broken. I appreciated their honesty and work, and will be contacting Mr. Bonilla in the future when needed. He and his crew are the best!

I called him to see what time he was coming on the day that we agreed and he told me that he was not available, but he would be there the next day. When I told him that I was not available that day, he kept trying to move it to that day. When I tried to get him to choose a day when we were both available, he couldn't give me a date. We both agreed to not continue the transaction. I found someone who arrived on the date that we agreed on, did a great job, and was less than Mr. Bonilla's price.

He assured me I would be very happy with his work. We set up a meeting for a Tuesday at 7:30pm. I said I was home on Thursdays and could see him during the day. He said he preferred evening hours to accommodate working people. Likely more to accommodate himself. Perhaps this is a side business? I agreed to the evening hours. He requested that I e-mail him my address. I was tied up that weekend and didn't e-mail him right away. He texted me the next day to remind me to send him the address. I was impressed by that. Felt like he really wanted my business. I e-mailed him the address and requested that we change the meeting to Thursday at the same time. He e-mailed back that was fine and he would see me Thursday at 7:30. I rushed through my errands to get back to meet him. 7:30 came and went. 7:45 came and went. 8:00 came and went. At that point, I considered him a no-show. At 8:20, Gus called. I sent him to voice mail. He said he was checking to see if we were still meeting as he hadn't gotten confirmation from me. ???? When it comes to a major project like this, I have no tolerance for this kind of thing. If you can't even keep the appointment straight, how will you handle all of the moving parts of a remodel?
