Rich behind the counter

This is not a historical Route 66 place, but it is a very useful stop for tourists from all over. It's basically a Route 66 Emporium. Lots of old antique cars (though broken down) and signs add great character to the place. Rich Henry, who has been seen all over the local media, runs the Rabbit Ranch. Of course, you'll see his pet rabbit and get to pet it. Henry is a very nice guy, who can tell you anything you need to know about Route 66. He will talk your head off, but that can be a good thing! Be sure to sign the guestbook as he will point out the people from outside the United States that have visited! Rich sells several collectibles with the Route 66 sign on it, as well as many books and free pamphlets that will help you with your trip along the Mother Road. He does not accept any plastic, just cash, which usually doesn't do it for me. So make sure you bring plenty of it, as Rich has plenty of stuff that you will be tempted to buy. And definitely don't forget to take plenty of photos, especially outside the home. On the right side of the place, you'll find a playground bunny for the kids to play on as well as a graveyard for Rich's deceased pet rabbits. Rich is usually there every day from Monday to Saturday during the daytime, but he says that during the Winter months, he usually closes the place.

Route 66 is full of dusty antique stores, greasy hamburgers, and vanilla sundaes, but there is truly only ONE Henry's Rabbit Ranch.

Visits in JUL-AUG-OCT 2025…read more We moved into town this summer. Our realtor provided gift certificate as a closing congratulations. After we came the first visit I wanted to take my time, have a few more visits before I wrote. My rating of 3 (okay) in this case think of it as an academic C, a passing grade but certainly room for improvement. Rooster's Pub is okay, the food is okay, the service is okay, it is clean. If you are looking for a bar food meal this is an okay place to choose. You can stop here, disregard the rest and make your choice. I suspect that Rooster's is popular locally (and has some high ratings) is familiarity, and a customer base that hasn't widely traveled, there is nothing wrong with that. I am comfortable saying that this place is also likely a good bar, for those interested in that environment. It is not quite for me (us) as a restaurant. We have only been during the lunch hours. I have never owned a bar or restaurant. I worked in them at various levels earlier in life. I acknowledge how tough it is to be a bar that also has standout food. In my experience that is rather rare. I know that when a bar does get that balance right, they have a limited menu. They make a few things and make them well. A full menu is always going to have to carry some amount of frozen "Sysco" things dropped into hot oil. Our meals, I have had two okay tenderloins and one burger, my wife two fish (slightly overdone) meals, and one burger. My wish is for continued success for Rooster's, it is a fine place for others. As currently functioning it is not a place for me. This is also okay if the oil is always fresh, and the cook is attentive and pulls things soon enough to guard color/texture and the cooking finishes during delivery to table. On another note it seems that in our 3 visits, things are cooked hard and fast but then sit in the window, cooling until delivered lukewarm and past that "golden moment". A few lines about the fries. People do like them, I however do not prefer house cut fries. I think the basic restaurant frozen fry, well executed, is an easy win. Our's have been dark and soggy on arrival. I did get the tots on the middle visit (better), had forgotten the fry defeciency and got them this last time. My wife, a Midwestern lover of all things potato, left nearly half of her order. Overall plating has been a bit haphazard, not expecting a cooking show, but I do appreciate something that arrives looking intentional. There just doesn't seem to be a level of care applied to the meals that have come to our table (a note on that at the end). We have only had the same two front of house workers. They are polite (maybe stiffly and overly so), they get the order right and they accomplish the mission. However is feels a bit like a "transaction", which I understand it is, the customers aren't your friend. I don't think it's just us, there doesn't seem to be any warmth with anyone that comes in (even what I presume are regulars). If there is a scale with annoyed that I exist on one end, and a warm hug on the other, the service here is much closer to the left hashmark. A final note about my meals here. If the gaps in execution are some message that I am not worthy of a best effort, or simply not welcome- message received.

I have been here before, but I haven't reviewed it. This place is fantastic!! Its located in…read moredowntown Clayton and has valet parking right in front of the restaurant. Its relatively small inside, but cozy. A nice touch - is they offer a free coat check, so you don't have to carry your bulky coats to the table. The service here is really outstanding- but I think a huge benefit is they cook seed oil free- meaning everything is cooked either in butter or olive oil. They source local ingredients- rotate lots of different seasonal specials and also have a chefs tasting menu. You can really tell they care about food quality here. Many of us did go with the Chefs Tasting menu which they are also very flexible about- meaning if a special isn't on the menu you can subsitute it, etc. You truly could put together your own tasting menu. They start the table with crackers and a blue cheese souffle. Then they also offer a plain bread with butter which is amazing! Such a nice touch! Then we got stone crab as an appetizer - which was a special and came with a mustard dipping sauce!! It was great- I just wished they cracked the stone crab a bit more as it was hard to get into. We got a variety of menu and special dishes- Tuna Tartare, Soup of the day- Mushroom, Mixed Green Salad, Spanish Octopus, Pasta special, Sea Bass special, Missouri Trout, and Porkbelly Special. We also had a Chai Creme Brulee for dessert. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. This is one of my favorite spots! I also love how they will bag your leftovers and leave them up front by the coat check so you grab it on the way out. They think of all the little details here. Overall experience 5/5.

I've known several kids who've had wonderful experiences there, and return year after year. Many have gone on to become mentors and leaders at the ranch and in their communities. The Ranch also rents the property for private gatherings. The property is gorgeous with a lake (beach, swimming, fishing, kayaks, paddle boats, and canoes), open fields, horse pastures, trails, pavilion, kitchen, nice restroom and shower facilities, bunkhouse, RV and tent sites, and much more. There's even a beautiful butterfly garden! Over the years, our family has rented the property for graduation parties and family reunions, and I've attended several special events there. I highly recommend them for their kids' programs and private use of the amenities!

We are non-denominational, non-profit and dependent on prayers, financial support and volunteer help. How Can We Serve You? Located on 107 acres in Foristell, Missouri, we are prepared to host programs and events for area families, churches and civic groups. The Horsemanship program serves children from age seven and up, teens, and adults. The Day Camp program serves children ages 8-14. People come to volunteer expecting to be a blessing and leave saying they received more than they gave. The training for those who serve in programs is very valuable, especially to young people (15+) who wish to develop leadership skills. Every time I am in Kenricks I feel like a part of the family. They go above and beyond for their customers daily. The quality of meats, choices of quick meal items, and the grocery selection featuring local companies makes Kenrick's a great place to visit. From the Meat Market my favorites include prosciutto wrapped asparagus, chicken/beef spedini, and the kebobs! The K-Café is another favorite -- They have a to-go window makes it easy to grab lunch or dinner. I often call ahead for pickup, the meatloaf, fried chicken, and deli sandwiches are top choices. Kenrick's also has an outstanding catering department that truly works with each customer's needs. If you're looking for help during the upcoming holiday season, I highly recommend giving Kenrick's a try!

Cheeses and prepared foods, pizza, ice cream, some grocery items, lots of seasoning and sauces, most things you will need to accompany your meat purchases. When you are ready to check out, the line heads from the cashier counter to the back of the store, even if its long, it moves pretty quickly.
